The Whitlock Plantation dates back to 1853, in which the wealthy Whitlock Family built a gargantuan plantation, which was situated in the woods of Arkansas, and that soon became the basis for greater things. In the Civil War, the Whitlock Plantation helped the South and sent aid to soldiers fighting in Kentucky and Missouri, while attempting to create insurrections in the north that would let them secede from the Union and hopefully divide the North into two, of course, that never happened, as the conspiracy was foiled before anything materialized. Later on in the war, the Whitlock Plantation's remote location made it unscathed, unlike many other Southern Plantations which were raided and destroyed by numerous Federal Troops, and became a safehaven for many Confederate Troops and other non-military Confederate Servicemen and low-level politicans, some of which eventually married into the Whitlock Family.
The Whitlock Plantation wouldn't see its strength until the 1930s, when the Dustbowl came. Surprisingly, the Whitlock Planation took little damage and was still able to be farmed, and many who knew the place found work there. Of course, crop yields were less than what they would've been, but there was work, and as such, the Whitlock Plantation slowly reached its old glory. Until the war, the Whitlock family would be influential in the politics of Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee, and to a lesser extent Mississippi and Louisiana. They would even attempt an assassination of the President for federalizing the US, and also tried hard to desegregate so they can hire cheap labor and not spend a fortune segregating them. The Whitlocks were investigated, but through corruption, connections and allegedly prostitutes, the Whitlocks avoided heavy government scrutiny.
When the war came, the Whitlock Plantation was still a remote plantation in the woods, and the bombs which ravaged so many cities didn't even touch the plantation, and soon, refugees came knocking on the unscathed Whitlock door. Those who lacked intelligence or skills, or were mutated were executed, and humans who are not mutated and have intelligence and/or physical skills were taken in. Some were trained as scientists by one of the Whitlocks who studied at the Institute in Massachusetts and later became an engineer, jumpstarting a small science department under the plantation to work on energy generation and more efficient methods of agriculture, while those with physical skills were initially hired, but eventually enslaved by the Whitlocks, but learning from the past, the Whitlocks brainwashed the slaves and treated them nicely to ensure that slave revolts won't undermine the plans of the Whitlocks. In the last days of Frank Whitlock, he envisioned a city around the plantation, where the Whitlocks and unmutated humans can live in a prosperous city.
By now, Abigail Whitlock is the owner of the Plantation, and alongside two advisors from intelligent families who came in the beginning of the war, she manages the plantation along with its affairs with the outside, the science, the small military the plantation has and other affairs. She has been known as a woman who shows no mercy to Ghouls, but is benevolent to non-ghouls who don't try to undermine her or her plantation. She has begun to aggressively trade and get the best deals to hopefully construct the grandeur dreams of her ancestors and instill salvation upon intelligent and/or strong unmutated human wastelanders.
