Erm- Hello! :o
Long time! Two years, actually. Bit late for dinner, I'm afraid.
A multitude of reasons left me deciding to leave this site randomly. Oh certainly, I originally didn't wish to leave! But then once internet, my life and health was stable- I never did return for a while. My fault. I am extremely sorry.
I wanted to return to this site =) But sadly, I am struggling to navigate it. I can't find the chat program you guys use to communicate in this mess of annoying "image error" cat images. I can't see anything D: Help!

The man's words comforted Octavia to the point of friendship. She relaxed in her chair and smiled towards The Scholar in a cheerful manner. "Thank you for putting my fear at ease" the elf said softly. "I'd be honoured to be part of the guard. I'm not too keen on hunting- I... lack knowledge of Valenwood wildlife on a whole, but as I did with Hammerfell- I shall learn. Else, what is the point in joining you all in this jo-journey, right?" She attempted to chuckle weakly, but it came out as a genuine laugh. Somehow, her lack of experience amused Octavia... giving another meaning to 'laughing in the face of danger.'
Modyn caught Octavia's eye. "Dwemer!" she seemed to say with quite some enthusiasm. "Skyrim was home to many Dwarven cities- I saw a few ruins in Hammerfell also. Absolutely beautiful stonework, far advanced golden mechanical machines, built to defend the halls the Dwemer once roamed... they stopped me from actually going deeper into the ruins, flooding out of pipes. At the time, I lacked swordsmanship training- wait, wait..." She dug into a bag that managed to, up until this point, hide itself by the High Elf's feet. Plunging her hand into the bag, a few bottles clanked alongside a metallic'clink' as two pieces of phantom metals hit one another. Or was it glass? She pulled out a golden plate, carved wonderfully with Dwemer design, having been used to hold food in the past, it seemed Octavia had obtained it during her journeys and continues to use it for that very purpose. "Found this a while back... the amount of times I've dropped it is pathetic, but it doesn't even have a dent."
When the old man announced it was time to go, Octavia shoved the plate back into her bag, struggling to fit it in at first. She finished off the bread she was eating before downing her tankard of milk with barbarian manners... Skyrim took it's toll on her, after all. Closing her bag and putting it on her back, the High Elf made sure she had everything on her. Armour, scarf, Scimitar, bag, bedroll, waterskin-- yes, she had everything with her. The elf was ready to follow the crowd into Oblivion and back for all she knew.

Space. The final frontier. Or, at least, that's what people would have you believe... people would always love to take the happiness out of situations. For example- people say space is pure darkness, but that simply wasn't true! Melody could quite clearly see suns and far away planets from the window. Staring into space, seeing the beauty of the galaxy from a tiny, tiny (and rather cheap) room inside a spacecraft. The concept of this reality thrilled Melody. Her very nature depended on being thrilled and cheerful about the smallest thing. Otherwise... she wouldn't be Melody, would she? The blonde Human was indeed cheerful, led on her bed in her quarters, watching Space from the confines of a reinforced glass window... upside down, of course. Her room was quite tidy and clean with simply a guitar laying against a wall lazily, a blue coat littered on the floor, a flute and flashlight randomly under the bed and a sack of apples tucked in the corner of the room. Laying non-moving for the longest time, the blonde giggled happily before rolling off the bed, landing with a 'thud'. Standing up instantly in a blur, she dusted off her red dress. Somehow, in the millisecond between landing and getting up, she grabbed the blue coat- quickly putting it on with a large smile.
Not much was known about Melody to the crew- other then the obvious fact she was cheerful, most defiantly Human and loved apples. But she rarely left her quarters and hasn't done anything to indicate any intelligence, skills or athletic ability... other then, now and again, the odd person passing her door may hear some soft music being played from inside. Having played music at the Hytotl Colony for enough time to satisfy Melody, she boarded the Tenzan with the sole intent of moving on, carrying almost nothing with her, but instruments, a flashlight and a sack of apples. She most certainly took a liking to the Apex Engineer, smiling happily and waving to him every moment she has the chance. Her cheerfulness didn't stop at the Apex either- the Hylotl, the blonde would shyly wave to now and again and the Novakid... well, Melody seemed amazed by the Novakid's style, if anything. Fascinated, even!
The blonde sat back on the bed with her guitar in hands, beginning to happily strum an upbeat tune without a hesitation. Those shells for walls may block out most of the sound, though races with higher hearing ability may still be able to hear the Human play her music. It was a beautiful sound- she was obviously very talented at what she did, but it's such a strange setting- the Tenzan- for such music to be played.
Melody would remain in her room, playing her guitar, unless disturbed.

So, anyone else starting to have ideas on how their characters are going to develop? Oh, most certainly. For some reason, it takes a very long time for anything to happen on The Nexus, so it leaves me with plenty of time to think things through about characters and idea's. I've got too much time on my hands since I don't really do anything.Iola has also got three paths! Unless she dies, of course. The Lone Wolf - Iola didn't make long lasting friendships at Beacon. Nothing changed between Atlas and Vale for her- only she got better at being alone. Armed with her crossbow, through the wilds, Iola hunts alone, from time to time, helping people in need. If anyone is looking for her, she'd always be two steps ahead- always wishing to be avoided. From time to time, random paintings can be found in the wilds, untouched by Grimm... (True Neutral) "Your hunt is my hunt" - Iola was fully dedicated at Beacon due the friendships she made- the dramatic change in her life, she'd never forget. In life or in death, Iola will hunt Grimm and the 'evil ones' side-by-side with other Hunters and Huntresses. After she retires, Iola dreams of being a professional painter with her own painting shop. Blood Painting - Iola hated her time at Beacon, she hates her time around people, she hates her time around Grimm- she hates everything! And she snapped... ohhhh did she snap. In the wilds, not only do people go missing without a sign of Grimm, but strange paintings, untouched by Grimm, are found... painted in blood and Dust. The serial killer is an ex-Huntress, whom is always one step ahead of the hunt. (Chaotic Evil)

As soon as the screen flickered to life with the image of a strange woman, Iola stood up in a blur of motion, standing to attention, her glance set sharply on the screen and, if it was possible, the speech emitted. Her metallic figure clanked as she stood up, the armour and crossbow shifting from it's downwards weight. But, despite hearing what the woman said, the Huntress-philosopher didn't quite understand... there wasn't any information in the announcement? So how can it be classed as an annou--- ah, she thought. It was just an introduction, nothing more.
"Seems we have arrived" Iola said softly as she began walking towards the other side of the ship, generally towards an exit to the airship. "This is farewell... for now." Iola turned her head while walking onwards and gave Mavros a small smirk with shining violet eyes, disappearing into a crowd with her crossbow being the last bulky piece of metal possible to see, her long coat allowing her to fit into the crowd despite being heavily armoured like a mirage. And just like that- Iola was off to Beacon.
The Atlas ship slowly began to lower down onto the edge of the cliff, the nose turned front to back, allowing the exit to lower onto firm ground, greeting the metal with a 'clunk'. As the ship docked, students of all kinds began to disperse in a crowd-shift movement, a blur of colours, two robotic knights standing either side of the exit, guarding the ship as the vast majority of students left. There wasn't much rush, however- people took their time, allowing the captain and crew to take a nice break from their own duties.

Iola's own thoughts on Vale were much less...well... thoughtful. Having heard of nothing about other places such as Vacuo and Mistral until very recently, she had no prior knowledge of what Vale would look like, let alone hold. It was quite impressive to her- a city traditional, proper roads, highways, lights, shops, crime, nightlife, nearly everything Atlas had, yet somehow, had very little of. Not that Iola actually cares about these sort of details in lifestyle, but for art, she most certainly see's creativity in Vale's design...and she awaited to see what art the people have produced with their own personalities and weapons at Beacon.
All Iola really cared about was the hunt, however. She knows no other life.
"We share childhood dreams of becoming something greater, inspired by our parents" she said thoughtfully with a gentle tone, now blinking from her stare, feeling somewhat at ease. "I am a Huntress. I've come to hunt." After she said this, she paused and hesitated for a moment, opening her mouth to speak before shutting it and going through the words in her mind. It was clear that she was being very careful with her wording. "..Atlas demanded... uniform. Technology. I love Atlas, leaving has troubled me greatly. But.. I am no soldier. I wear no uniform. I am colour. I am a Huntress of Grimm. Beacon shined to me, so I walk towards the light, as you have."
The Huntress rested her head back against the wall, no longer staring. To her, that was a lot of talking and not a lot of doing. Given the situation, Iola does not mind this... but she was reluctant to say anything unrequired of her. She no longer saw Mavros as a threat, glaring around her from the location on the floor, inspecting the airships members- looking only for a few milliseconds before glaring briefly at another person to stalk momentarily with her eyes.

Iola remained sat there, listening to them talk without interrupting. It'd be rude to interrupt, wouldn't it? She still felt somewhat threatened by the picture of Vale from the sky, though as it remained for a while, she felt relaxed again, going back to staring between the two brothers as they spoke. It was a less intense stare- perhaps because she was outnumbered? Or because she wanted to be kinder? Even when Mavros mentioned criminals, she simply sat there, looking quite thoughtful on the topic, yet saying nothing.
"Agreed" she stated to Lefko's final statement about the different cultures. "It would be a blend of colours...and with colour comes art." She seemed quite confident that this wording made sense, relaxing once again against the wall. Once Lefko had left to go to the bathroom, in which Iola's response was a simple nod, she went to staring at Mavros. It wasn't a threatening stare, unlike she had given Lefko.. it was more of a wary stare. Somehow, Iola found Mavros much more intimidating. Even so, staring at someone was considered a rude gesture in the first place... it wouldn't matter what reason, all people used to get offended by her staring back in Atlas. Despite the fact she became self-aware that people hated it, she continued to stare anyway.
"Your brother has left his helmet with us" she stated softly, moving her hand as a gesture towards the helmet itself. "I expect Vale to be much like Atlas... only more interesting." She admitted this and stared at Mavros, watching his reaction cautiously.

Nice! I love this twist you've added! Hehe, all jokes aside, I still feel somewhat guided. *Crossing fingers* Still hope I can get that relations Roleplays in between the Grimm fighting.

There was no denying that the situation was awkward, but in Iola's mind, nothing was awkward. The word awkward itself never really had any meaning in her mind, due to lack of social contacts, even in school back in Atlas. She stared at the man approaching with a sudden owl-like movement of her face, violet eyes blazing with the stare. She was surrounded and backed against a wall. It wasn't the best way to introduce yourself to someone who, if anything, seemed a little on edge.
"He has not offended" she said sternly, but most certainly as friendly as she could- which, sadly, wasn't very friendly given the joke Mavros just pulled off. The joke relaxed Iola, but it certainly didn't make her happier. Her eyes (and head) turned back to Lefko, upon the offering of conversation and statement of being a friend or foe. In response, she simply copied his movement, putting a closed fist up to her chestplate under her long jacket and nodding softly. "Alessa. Only shoots custom made crossbow bolts, filled with Dust." Iola, for the first time, smirked. "Makes even my free-time dangerous." Remaining sat, she blinked, glaring up at the two brothers in a confused, yet serious, awe, not letting her confusion be seen through her serious expression.
Iola looked at the scroll's image with a heavy breath. Something obviously bothered her about the view, the crossbow clinked slightly as she shoved herself back a bit against the wall. Her face's expression didn't change- she was hiding her emotion. "Hmph.." she managed to make out, gazing up at the two brothers warily.

The woman moved her head sideways and pursed her lips in a 'good answer' expression, finally blinking her violet eyes in a mellow manner. She shifted her body and sat up a bit and, instead of instantly shaking his hand, she took off one of her gauntlets with a firm pull and shook his hand with a cold, pale and somewhat bruised hand of her own. "Iola Kali" she said softly, no longer stern in tone, having her question answered. "Starting my first semester at Beacon...." she awkwardly hesitated, having little else to say after that- so she simply ended with "..and this is Alessa. My ... crossbow."
Being asked what armour your metal is to Iola is like being asked what colour your underwear is. This was one, rude, and two, purple. She sat back against the wall, resuming her last position. The question loomed about for a bit as Iola returned to staring without blinking and thought what she could answer- she even opened her mouth to say something, but instantly stopped, revising the answer in her mind. Finally, after an awkward moment of silence, she said, simply: "Atlas Steel." Glaring at him, trying to make him feel uncomfortable that he'd stop talking, Iola attempted to assert her dominance through the stare. It especially worked on Faunus, who had hunting instincts normally built into them naturally... a Human with a hunting instinct, however? It made for some pretty interesting hunts, and much relationship issues.
".." The stare continued. Iola remained unmoved, watching him.

(This will be fun. Two somewhat anti-social people from Atlas going to Beacon! Lets do this, Ghost!)
Iola's violet eyes gazed up at the muscular, darkened military Atlas geared man who was addressing her. She took a long moment to look at him- taking in the question and the armour. "..Alessa" she answered in a stern yet most certainly feminine voice. "I built.... her." There was a hesitation. There was always a problem in Iola's mind when addressing weapons as people. While it did make a conversation much more poetic, they were not at all like people- some people don't need weapons to hunt, after all... weapons require someone to use them. Atlas introduced Atlesian Knight robots into the mix, they wouldn't defeat the Grimm and Iola knew it.
She squinted a bit, remaining entirely still from her position on the ground, her long duster jacket just covering her armoured knees. It was a pretty long coat, but oddly, it suited the woman and her armour hidden under it. "Atlas military armour and weaponry... both modified. Is that allowed?" The question came with a sharp tone, cutting through the air. There wasn't a tone of disapproval, but there was certainly a tone of wariness... the woman wasn't going to trust a soldier who changed his own uniform colours. Her eyes remained in a squint, focused on the man who addressed her... it was as if she didn't blink while staring at him, reminiscence of a creature watching it's prey or predator for any signs of movement. In this case, Iola was watching him for lies.

This brings me to two points. The first of which, is that if you're looking for a character picture to use, they've rendered a lot of faces for random scenes throughout the series. Even if your character isn't in gear, it at least might give you something to work with. RWBY has a pretty unique art style, so it's hard to find things that work. The second point, is that there are a LOT of potential characters. We'll have plenty of NPCs to work with. Butter and I have discussed some of these. Found Iola.
