Armaments:
Desert Rangers commonly use more traditional firearms: Hunting Rifle, Hunting Shotguns, Cowboy Repeaters, Service Rifles, Assault Rifles, Riot Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, other conventional firearms. Rangers typically carry a primary weapon and a side arm, or multiple sidearms. A handful of Rangers use heavy weapons, but these few make poor scouts and can't cover ground like the others. Many Desert Rangers are traditionally skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and various blades. ( Hunting Knives, Combat Knives, ect.)
( Some of the Desert Rangers hold revolvers as their weapon of choice, and those taught the Way of the Sixgun are highly skilled and often referred to as Gunslingers. )
Armor and Uniform:
Rangers have a few variants of their gear and uniforms due to limited supplies. Most Desert Rangers wear armor similar to the NCR Veteran Rangers and the former Desert Rangers of the Wasteland. Riot Armor is common, although some Rangers prefer variations of combat armor or leather armor in it's place. Some of the L.A.P.D. riot armor has been acquired from fallen NCR Rangers or "donated" and used by the faction, but much of their gear came from the Ranger Vault.
( Above: A military-grade armor originally used by riot squads and special police units, this combat outfit is typically worn with a matching military helmet with built-in low light optics, a combination IR/white light lamp and gas mask. It is worn with the Desert Rangers style duster, a "Desert Ranger" badge and a pair of denim jeans. Cowboy Boots, Work Boots, or Combat Boots are common. )
( Other gear commonly used by Desert Rangers. )

"You do not aim with your hand. He who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. You aim with your eye.
You do not shoot with your hand. He who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. You shoot with your mind.
You do not kill with your gun. He who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father. You kill with your heart."
- Gunslinger's Creed
The original Rangers were a small but unified community had a strong survivalist contingent, likely retaining some small arms and books. Based out of Nevada and Texas with a few other scattered groups in between. They were known to protect people in cities and towns from enemies such as the White Legs, tribals, raiders, and super mutants.
“We Rangers hail from back east, what used to be called Nevada. Our heritage stretches back to the days of the Texas Rangers. We learn survival and combat skills in order to go out into the world and have a chance of surviving and making things better."
- Tycho, Fallout
Later, the Rangers came into contact with Caesar's Legion in Arizona and a war ensued. The war was going poorly for the Desert Rangers until, in 2271, NCR Rangers reached the Mojave Wasteland. The Desert Rangers signed the "Ranger Unification Treaty" with the NCR and they were absorbed into the NCR Rangers in exchange for NCR's protection of Hoover Dam and Nevada from Caesar's Legion. The great monument at the Mojave Outpost remains to this day depicting this historic moment. Some wastelanders still whisper of the Desert Rangers that still roam the wastes in search for those who prey upon the weak.
Near the end of 2283, the Desert Rangers were reborn in the wake of the Tull Massacre....
*Note: Members wishing to have their character join the new Desert Rangers character will be required to RP the "proposal" out in thread unless otherwise noted. Acceptions will be made for those of obvious canon allegiance and a healthy thread record. All character not participating in the Fistful of Caps trilogy threads will need special permission from both GG and I to be considered for the Desert Rangers. Otherwise, members wishing to make a Ranger character can always make your character an NCR Ranger, but know they are two separate groups.*
