The Bank's Official Insignia.
Name: The Bank of Armageddon
Type of Faction: The Bank and its affiliates pride themselves on being a respectable and flourishing wasteland business, embodying the powerful status of Old World Wall Street. Once a roving band of fiercely territorial raiders, their mercenary traditions continue to influence their ruthless yet pragmatic business philosophy. They have grown incredibly wealthy offering protection for the assets of anyone and everyone. Now the Bank’s activities are spreading, leaving a well ordered paper trail throughout the High Desert Plains pointing south…
Faction Leader: The Bank of Armageddon is largely administrated in a statewide group effort by the biggest bread winning employees and the Managing Directors. However, it is said to be led by the mysterious Executives, a group so enigmatic that they are rumoured to be deities rather than actual people. More likely, the Executives are little more than “bogeymen” invented by the Bank to encourage employee efficiency. Hence the old Bank of Armageddon saying – if you “have a meeting on the top floor” then you are about to die.
Active Characters: None yet.
Other Notable Figures:
Goals: Safe, reliable banking on a wasteland wild scale for all. According to the Bank charter, this core value is aimed at all wastelanders anywhere and everywhere….but in truth, the Bank of Armageddon’s are more concerned with powerful groups or organisations (NCR, Legion, etc) When it comes to dealing with factions, the Bank of Armageddon’s transaction is a two way street. The faction gets financial protection and investment, whilst the Bank of Armageddon – like all banks – gets personal information…and of course more power.
Beliefs: The Bank of Armageddon was founded by a group of cutthroat raiders who set up shop in the crumbling ruins of a pre-war Bank. However, this particular Bank was fully automated and state-of-the-art thanks to RobCo, so the whole building went to lockdown the moment the raiders set foot in the door. As the old holotape projector whirred into action, the fearsome gang were forced to watch days worth of ancient banking informercials until they could finally bypass the security systems and get the goddamn door open. But by then, the raider leader had been inspired. Hearing whisperings of the NCR and Legion advancing ever northward, he saw the way things were going. One way or another, civilisation was coming back to the wasteland. And that meant cash – lots of it. Worshipping money in the same way the Brotherhood worship technology, the Bank is entirely dedicated to bringing order back to the wasteland through the reintroduction of an enforced economy…and making a fat bag of caps in the process.
Allegiances: The Bank of Armageddon is completely neutral in all conflicts unless their own investments are directly threatened. Dealing in all forms of currency from caps and NCR dollars to Legion Denarii, the open door policy laid down in its charter guarantees financial security for everyone, from Slaver to Desert Ranger.
Enemies: Anybody foolish enough to skip the payment on a loan.
Headquarters: The Bank of Armageddon have a city - Captiol - built in the ruins a state-of-the-art prewar bank in Meridian, Idaho. This was the site of their first branch. They've expanded since then.
Locations: Practically ruling the great state of Idaho, the Bank have set their sites on branching firmly south into the High Desert Wasteland by the next fiscal Quarter. The future's bright - the future's Oregon. However, the merger has proven far from smooth. The Bank's only Oregon Branch - the old post office in Madras - is currently under construction, as the Bank
Armaments: The Bank avoids hostility wherever possible (think of the paperwork!) and leaves their security issues in the capable hands of some random mercenary they paid. Said random mercenary usually brings their own gear to the job i,e shotguns, pistols etc, although hiring tribal militia with spears and sledgehammers is a new policy the Bank heartily encourages (cutbacks).
Amongst bank personel, weapons are as a sign of status, and small ‘n’ stylish is the way to go. Plasma and laser pistols are the go-to armament of choice for junior accountants, whilst more senior Bankers favour more eclectically “unique” weapons secured by shadowy contacts.
The "Tesla" Repeater and "Sonic Six-shooter" are just some of the more bizzare acquisitions that have made it into the Bank of Armageddon's Safes over the years. Most of these ancient antiques are as dangerous to the user as they are to the target.
Armor and Uniform: Professional attire - Suits and ties for the fellas, skirts and stilettos for the ladies. Every employee has a unique serial number carved into their arm with a knife.
Just another day at the office...
Vehicles: The Bank use Caravans pulled by Bighorner to transport their funds from place to place. For particularly obscene sums of money, they Caravans are occasionally fitted (at great cost) with stealth boys.
Technology: Many different kinds of people have an account with the Bank of Armageddon. Powerful, dangerous with people with powerful, dangerous connections? Did I mention they were powerful and dangerous? Not that this matters if they can't pay their debts. The assets are dissolved (as are they sometimes) and their possession, however cool and unusual they may be, are deposited in the Bank's mighty safes. This technology ranges from more mundane wasteland tech such as robots and PIP Boys to the darn right bizzare. However, since the only thing the Bank can't seem to buy is mechanics brave enough to tamper with it, everything generally falls into disrepair relatively quickly.
Other: Whilst the Bank of Armageddon fiercely guards its figures, the total sum of their wealth is estimated to be in the area of 1.2 million caps.
Numbers: The Bank's total employee count is around the 2,000 mark. In Orgeon however, The Bank currently employees around fifteen clerks, three of which are senior management. In addition, they hire freelance mercenaries from all walks of life on a monthly basis numbering no more than seventy five. The number of wastelanders holding accounts with the bank is estimated at around 800.
