I thought about making a thread on the East Coast that involves some kind of sailing voyage to South America (which the sailors believe is a lot less dangerous than North America). I intend for that not to happen and for a problem such as a shipwrecking on some island somewhere to occur.
It's a little cliche, would mean that characters your use for it aren't likely to get back and since it's an obscure, unknown island there wouldn't be much fear of radiation and food would need to foraged or gotten from the animals that would live there (haven't decided yet).
This COULD mean making a new area thread, but I'd like to see what people have to say. I welcome any criticisms or failures you see within this idea.

I think it sounds like a good idea. I'm in if there is interest.

Alright.
The general story ideas I've come up with so far are as follows:
A group of characters from the East Coast hear rumour of a voyage to South America and meet up with the ship and it's crew, along with some other NPC's. During the voyage, either a radioactive hurricane or mutated sea monster attack would incur and the ship would be taken off course, far into the mid-ocean.
It would then shipwreck on an island.
The island previously had it's existence kept secret but the US government, as it housed a major military facility and missile silo beneath it. However, a week after the bombs were dropped it's reactor began to fail and exploded (ironically, as it survived every bombing), ghoulifying the majority of it's residents and killing many others. Those that were away remained human and split apart from the ghoul group over the past centuries. The humans reproduced and gained a vast amount of people over the years and the ghouls were still high in number anyway. The two began becoming more tribal and pirate-like, which lead to a war between the two over the technologies on the island.
The survivors of the shipwreck would be captured by the ghouls, and that would be the start of the basic story.
This requires an area thread for me to make, two faction threads (unless someone else wants to make one) and it needs people to have an East Coast character they don't mind sending to this island.
IF YOU HAVE ANY INTEREST IN HELPING WITH THE GUIDE, FACTIONS OR JUST IN GENERAL PLEASE POST IN THIS THREAD

A possible idea for the origin of the vessel that crash landed there would be Nadine from Point Lookout. Tobar, who she "inherited" the ferry from, said he used to travel all along the coast from the Broken Banks to the Great Lanta. She could have expanded in recent years, creating a sort of business off of it and hired/taught new people. The ship that crash landed could be one to was owned by that larger "company".
It would help explain how the characters of the rp even found a ship that could carry them cross-seas.

The ship I had in mind is much larger than the pissant little steamboat Tobar (and then later Nadine) owned. I suppose what you proposed could mean that she not only taught others but found larger vessels, etc. If you're interested in helping me with it further, that'd be great.

That's fine too. My basic point through was coming up with a decent backstory for the boat since functional, seafaring vessels are a bit rare in PostApocalyptia. And we don't want the canonical ferry or the canonical Nadine to be shipwrecked on the island so it would be a different ship anyway.
And I don't know about joining the rp but I'm happy to throw ideas around!

I'm actually kind of interested now, if a super mutant is allowed
