This'll be the thread for story/guide planning. rpnexus.boards.net/thread/729/high-desert-wasteland-wipBasically what we're gonna do here, is brainstorm ideas for major and minor locations. The setting of course, is the High Desert Wasteland, that Fistful of Caps is a part of. The locations set in this roleplay will be added to the guide, when I or GG have managed to read through it all and then stick it on the guide. However, we're open to suggestions for the locations. There's only one requirement. No large factions - NCR is gonna be the "big bad"and the story of this particular wasteland is the local's struggle against the ultimate authority. Something along those lines. I doubt many vaults are situated in this area too, so don't spring 5 vaults... Maybe 1, 2's kinda pushing it. 3 is my absolute limit... But I'd prefer it to be virtually no vaults. No BoS - at least not a major bunker - a team, perhaps, cut off from the WBOS. Edit: So it seems the Enclave is a part of Fistful, though GG tells me they wont have much impact outside of the rp. I imagine the Legion has something of a presence. I haven't read much of Fistful yet, admittedly, so they could be in it.... In fact I'm pretty sure they are, to an extent. So they'll have a presence. Not as much as the NCR though, I'm sure. With that in mind, if you've got some cool ideas, I'm willing to listen and we'll see about attaching it to the guide.

Made a few edits to the guide, Tull and our friendly neighbourhood freedom fighters have been added. A few locations have also been added. If someone wants to take these canon locations on as their own, that's fine by me, though I'd like people to stick to the current descriptions and base their guys off that. Otherwise you can feel free to add new locals, either based on actual locations or not. Just notify me of them and I'll stick them in the guide.

So far, Fistful of Caps the thread is going well. Also Zel, Meta's joining our little team for developing this state into a cool little Spanish Civil War-esque area, so, welcome the Wulf aboard!
We have a pretty damn awesome team now, so I'd say it's safe to start writing our ideas down in here.

Reporting for duty. *salutes*
Vault 99 ( granted it has not be claimed until now. ) will be located somewhere in Oregon. Ghost and I will discuss it's details sometime in the near future, but know that it will be a very "unique" Vault indeed. >: )
Also, the town of Tull is going to be a ghost town after the events of Fistful. ( Much of the town has already been burned and torn apart by small arms, explosives, and energy weapon fire. ) Don't know when you want to edit that in, but I'm just letting you know since I'm not sure if you've read Fistful of Caps yet.
I will be editing more into this post as soon as I speak with Ghost and yourself again, Zel. : )

Is the number 99 important? Otherwise I'd prefer you change it to a lower number. The east coast seems to have the higher numbers, while the west coast generally had lower numbers, if I recall correctly. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it'd make more sense for the fallout lore if it's number was lower.

Number 99 is a reference. It can be changed though, not a huge deal. Just means one less Dark Tower reference ;(

I'll edit Tull's description once it's become a ghost town since I don't really want to put "soon-to-be-ghost-town" so just notify me when that's actually the case and I'll just pop it down

Since I've been meaning to post here for a while:
Currently, while all the shit with fistful of caps is going on, the other flying columns are slowly being organized into an effective fighting force by a character of mine that has yet to be named. Essentially, the flying columns will go from being scattered bands of raiders struggling to piss off the NCR, to a large resistance movement that is organized and even uniformed in some cases. The Rebels will also establish a 'Congress of Oregon' which gets representatives from all the 'rebel' towns. They're going to attempt to declare independence with it actually meaning something eventually. As of now, the majority of the flying columns have yet to be unified into a cohesive fighting force, however that will change as Fistful Develops. At the end of Fistful of Caps, it'd be safe to say that the following things will be true/would be rumored in the HIgh Desert Wasteland:
1) NCR Troops wiped out Tull 2) Tulls been wiped out 3) A group of gunslingers killed the people who wiped out Tull 4) The Rebels are outraged 5) More towns are throwing in behind the Rebels 6) A large Rebel group has gathered a great majority of the smaller ones into one effective force, known as the Oregon Republican Army 7) Representatives from certain settlements would've been asked for.
I'd say the timeline looks something like this, with us being at the second/third stage.
1. Rebels first start fighting-> Rebels start getting organized in certain sectors-> Civilian rebel government backed by rebel army emerges-> Fighting continues, Civilian Government and Rebel Army clash-> Deal is made/Rebels lose
As of now, Tull can be registered as a ghost town.

And who better to navigate this dramatic, epic western... punishing the wicked and defending the weak? Why, the Desert Rangers, of course! History of the Origional Desert Rangers "The Desert Rangers have survived ever since the end of the Great War until their unification with the NCR Rangers in 2271. This small community had a strong survivalist contingent, likely retaining some small arms and books. In the early 22nd century, they clashed with a tribal gang leader in the ruins of Las Vegas. They were known to protect people in cities and towns from enemies such as the White Legs, tribals, and super mutants. Later, the Rangers came into contact with Caesar's Legion in Arizona and a war ensued. The war was going poorly for the Desert Rangers until, in 2271, NCR Rangers reached the Mojave Wasteland. The Desert Rangers signed the "Ranger Unification Treaty" with the NCR and they were absorbed into the NCR Rangers in exchange for NCR's protection of the Hoover Dam and Nevada from Caesar's Legion. The great monument at the Mojave Outpost remains to this day depicting this historic moment. Certain individuals say that some Desert Rangers still roam the wastes in search for those who prey on the weak."The Desert Rangers are a very interesting part of the Fallout's West Coast history, and admittedly a badass idea "borrowed" from Wasteland, whom Fallout was a spiritual descendant of. The High Desert Wasteland holds a hidden waypoint for the rangers of old. Soon, ( sometime after the events of Fistful of Caps are concluded ) the Desert Rangers will be reborn in the Oregon Region. "Well shucks, I reckon I want to be a Ranger!" you say? Hold the reins, there, pardner. Not just anyone is fit to join the ranks of the Desert Rangers. Think you're character fits the bill and has the cojones? Then you'll have to play your character in the Oregon Threads and prove he/she is Ranger material. As of this moment the Desert Rangers are yet to be reformed. I will update as I discuss the plot with Ghost, Immortal, and Zel, and as the story progresses. So stay tuned!

Is this a game thats possible to join? I think my character would be a good addition to this, anti-law, and anti legion

Cinta,
Although the Oregon Threads are open, the story has yet to really start. The RP "Fistful of Caps", which is running presently and nearing completion, is only the "prologue" of the High Desert threads. Once Fistful is complete, the following thread ( which at his point is decidedly "For a Few Caps More". ) will be open to new players. But the current thread's author is GuardsGhost, so he can make the call as far as Fistful is concerned. : )

Oh, in that case, I might make a West Coast character so I can jump in. When Fistful of Caps was first starting, I didn't really know what it was and didn't make a char in time to join in. I'll start coming up with char ideas so I can introduce the character into the new thread.
