I'm really very boring. You'd get better stories out of a Freeside junkie...

Is this currently open to applications? This looks like a nice start for my character to open up his little greasy spoon restaurant...

The High Desert threads are open to applications, Lost, but the actual thread for this part has not begun. The High Desert threads ( the next one will be called For a Few Caps More, ) won't be starting until the completion of Fistful of Caps. So a different thread would probably be better to start your character, just for the simple fact that you wont have to wait for the thread to begin. Before that, you'll need to make a character, silly.

Updated the guide to look better (in my opinion).
Added a bunch of pictures, and some descriptions - more to come
Added details about the two raider groups of Oregon, there might be another to come, not sure. Yay cannibals!
Added a shiny new map with most locations (bar Tull, 'cause we gotta decide where to stick that geographically speaking). I'll probably add a few locations and stuff.
I'll be writing up some of the pre-Fisftul history at some point.
(I think Arroyo's location on the map is accurate... not too sure, it's hard to tell where it is exactly)
Edit: Added the history, might update it at some point, but for now, that's it.

Nice! Lookin' pretty good. I have to get with Ghost for the placement of Tull, and he and I are not quite finished with our outline of the Desert Rangers reformation. Also, I need to figure out where to put the Vault. : P And what the Rangers may have left behind.
Anyway, it's coming along, folks! Soon we'll know how our heroes are going to go about reforming, and then we'll get to deciding how many rangers we're going to allow int he first thread. Stay tuned!

I might have an idea for a prize or end goal. I was running this idea though for my own rp but seemed no one was interested. As there are limited vaults what if one is purchased for the soul reason for being remote? A pacifist group that purchased the whole vault for their group to begin anew. As an experiment, the enclave organized every inch of media, all entertainment, all their teaching vids to be based around a pro weapon view, along with their armory being stocked with energy weapons and vault tec power armor. This did slowly change them from pacifists to gun nuts, issue was they also began to tinker and modify the weapons they had, especially energy weapons. In time they have created some pretty advance weapons that even rival, if not surpass, enclave tech since the enclave only had scientists researching this kind of stuff when the majority of the vaults population did this kind of research just to pass the time!
Eventually things went tits up when having mastered tech based skills, one of their members found out they were being monitored by the enclave and the vault had a bit of a uprising. When moving east, the enclave attempted to take the vault by force, to obtain all advance weaponry, expecting little resistance. However they did not expect the vault dwellers to be ready for them, a huge vault wide war starting between enclave soldiers and power armored, energy weapon wielding vault dwellers.
In the end, something happened in the lower levels (I have a few ideas but that would be spoilers) that resulted in everyone in the vault, enclave and dweller, to die and the enclave abandoning the place. Of cause, this meant they left all that power armor, all those advance weapons behind. What if the NCR are trying to locate this vault and use its advance weaponry to turn the NCR into a powerhouse. This also gives the group something to work towards. Maybe they want to stop the NCR from getting their hands on so much technology, maybe they want the tech for themselves to sell for a fortune (As the armor is useless without power armor training) or gift the vault to their own faction to do with as they wish. Just an idea.

Well, the vaults weren't really purchased as such. They were made for the government, by Vault-Tec for the purpose of protecting civilians (and the rare few deemed special enough to save, whilst also experimenting on people in various situations. That isn't to say that there wouldn't be an experiment like that, they just would be invited in by Vault-Tec. But that aside, I doubt there are many places that could out-match the Enclave in terms of tech... so that's a kinda no-no.
Not to mention Meta already has plans for his vault, and I don't want to derail them. There aren't any plans for an additional vault on-top of that, at this time. So unfortunately, we can't use your ideas. Good luck elsewhere though.

Well yeah there are advertisements for it, but none list a price. They all say "sign up" or "reserve your place":

Yeah I just assumed it involved paying as Vault Tech was, you know, a company build souly by Vaults. Besides that just changes it from "They brought the whole vault" to "They all signed up to one vault"

Alrighty, special update for those of you in Fistful I guess. I added Tull's location to the map, took the liberty of finding an appropriate real world place (hope you don't mind GG). Also added a picture for Tull I found of it's real world counterpart that works well. Also added locations for Dolly's Lodge and the NCR's outpost in Oregon. Added a picture for Abandon, and also added Dolly's Daughters to the inhabitants section. That's about it really, fairly minor, but enjoy. I'm thinking of adding a few locations that aren't inhabited by people, like mines, nests and minor landmarks too. Oregon has some interesting locations that we can exploit.
