Erin McGockland woke from a government issued vault tech cryogenic pod in the year 2272. She was put in the pod under government orders to be available in the new world. Erin had been serving in the resource wars as a combat medic. While fighting in the wars Erin was able to survive several dozen combat missions and saved many lives. Since birth Erin had aspired to be a doctor. After medical school the world was on the verge of war. Seeing it all coming she joined to become a combat medic and see what she could do to save as many as she could. Her late husband, James McGockland lost his life in the invasion of Anchorage. As the United States saw she was a large asset to the medical field she was placed under government order to watch over the vault tech medical branch. Just as the Great War began Erin made preparations with the vault tech medical branches and construction began. After construction was finished of as many vaults as there could be made, Erin was sent to Bunker Alpha. Here in the hidden depths of the bunker the government was going to extreme lengths. Erin as well as important government officials, and well renown scientists were being issued highly experimental cryogenic chambers. All faculty were warned about the status of the prototype cryogenics. All, including Erin entered them knowing they may not awaken ever again.
As it was meant to be, after the great war had ended the people from the vaults came out of the shadows to rebuild the new world. However, as the hidden cryogenic project was top secret Erin McGockland and the VIP's in the depths of Bunker Alpha were forgotten. Until 200 years later a small scavenging team from the Brotherhood of Steel stumbled upon the ruins of Bunker Alpha and finally found the hidden section of the bunker. All other pods had either been crushed, cracked, or had a system failure. All of the other VIP's had been dead for years. Erin's chamber was the only one still with power. Interested about the technologies she was brought back and was able to be awakened by brotherhood scribes after much study of the chamber. Cryogenic freezing had permanent scarring on her body as well as forcing the amputation of several fingers and toes.
After several months under brotherhood interrogation the locations of surrounding vaults were discovered, as well as high tech medical equipment. She was able to escape brotherhood captivity and headed east. After jumping from town to town to lose the brotherhood Erin ran into a far out reaching branch of the Followers of the Apocalypse. She quickly learned about their history and with her superior medical knowledge joined the ranks to help the wasteland. Now, after three years of a Follower doctor she roams the wastes in search of truths about the vaults and offers help to anyone who is in need.
