IMPORTANT: Mander is too busy with school to run this thread, so I'll be taking over. Sorry if anyone has a problem with this. All credit goes to Salamander for coming up with the idea for the thread, writing the backstory, etc. The only changes I'll be making are posting order (We'll just go with whoever posts firsts), and thread start. We can start however you guys want, wherever you want. I'll throw up a poll of some random American states just as an example, but feel free to suggest one. So just repost your characters here and make any changes you feel needed.

France, 1808. A mysterious rock crash lands in a French field well away from any major settlement. Napoleon sends out a group of French scientists to investigate. Among these scientists is Enzo Arris, an astronomer. For several weeks the scientists live in a camp surrounding the rock. One day, Enzo studies the rock up close and notes it's strange blue glow and stretches his hand out to touch. The blue glow then seemingly latches onto his hand and cloaks him in the glow, leaving the rock as dull as ever. By several accounts from other scientists, Enzo seemingly absorbs the glow, then falls limp to the ground. Enzo is unconscious for several weeks. Once he comes to, something quite extraordinary happens, everything in the tent starts to float (Except people). After a couple seconds though, they fall. The scientists then believed that the rock had turned him into Satan, and they attempted (In a terrified panic) to kill him. They failed. Enzo then fled the country, and most unfortunately, fell in love with the girl that was helping him escape. And after almost two years on the run, they had a child. French spies having learned this, reported back immediately and set up an ambush for the fugitives. But they were one step ahead, they arranged for the baby to be sent to America. They were captured shortly after the baby left the continent. Soon the baby grew up and discovered that she too, had powers, and passed it down through the generations, until there were mutants all over america, almost 3% of the countries population. Some were more powerful than others, but they all received the same type of discrimination. Sometimes the military reached out to mutants, sometimes mutants rebelled. But our story doesn't focus on mutants in general, just a handful. The year is 2017. These Mutants are the few who will fight for their freedom. What about you? Okay transferred my information here Character Name: Gerald Rasche Nickname: Nails Age: 25 Ethnicity: White Hair color: Orange, long hair, very unkempt Eye color: Black Height: 6'2" Weight: 140 Appearance: Tall slender man teardrop tattoo on his right side, skull tattoo on his neck gauged ears several eyebrow piercings as well as shark bite piercings on his face arms and legs completely covered in tattoos as well the right arm is a full cobra the end of which ends in his hand, the left is marked in many seemingly random numbers, the legs are covered in various tattoos of various meanings to himself. (picture below with the changes I added) Power: Spikes. Has the ability to make spikes appear of various lengths and sizes from nearly any pore on his body. these can also be dislodged or thrown from his body at will to hit long distance targets. The effects can be both offensive and defensive, giving him the ability to stand his ground by digging them into the ground. His main drawback is the fact he cannot wear any body armor without effecting his power, and the limited defensive capability means he normally has to get the drop on someone. Backstory: Born on the street to a small group of homeless people he was raised in the ways of pickpocketing from a young age, when he was first caught he was sent into an orphanage, where he was often a bully to other kids, being pushed from foster house to foster house. Joined a gang at the age of 13, killed his first man on his 14th birthday. Committed several crimes until the age of 16 when he was caught. On account of the magnitude of his crimes he was tried and convicted as an adult. Within his first year in prison he managed to severely wound 3 inmates, 2 of which died, the third was permanently paralyzed and he spent 2 years in solitary lockup. While being transported from one prison to a maximum security prison offshore, he managed to kill 3 more guards and escape. After a night of running he stubled upon a strange glowing stone, upon touching it his flesh began searing, but he could not throw it off. As it slowly began sinking into his skin his body was racked with pain causing him to fall to the ground screaming, eventually passing out. When he awoke he was surrounded by SWAT officers who proceeded to attempt to handcuff him, what happened next was almost a blur, and when he snapped back into consciousness several agents lay dead impaled by large black spikes, as he looked down as his hand he noticed they were bleeding and his fists were clenched 1/2 inch spikes digging into the backs of his knuckles. After the incident he went underground until he heard of the mutant resistance, seeing it as a chance to redeem himself and bring down the government he wasted no time in joining in exchange for amnesty from his past crimes.

Name: Natalia Chevchenko Nickname: Blacksmith Age: 22 Ethnicity: Caucasian Hair color: Blonde Eye color: Blue Height: 5'3 Weight: 50 kg Appearance:Natalia is considered by many to be quite good looking. She has relatively short hair, and while she usually has her hair tied up in a sort of pony-tail/bun (More of a pony-tail, but her hair to short to form a proper one), even when she lets it down it's shoulder-length at best. She's rather slender, however still strong. Her skin isn't exactly pale, but it isn't really tanned either. Natalia wears a navy blue 'army uniform' (Buttoned coat sorta thing with a collar), which ends with a skirt, white dress shirt underneath, fit with a tie, and stockings. She wears formal high-heels most of the time, but when going onto a combat mission, switches them out for black dress shoes. They're not exactly running shoes, but as Natalia deals with CQC these days, it isn't much of a problem. In addition, depending on the mission, she will switch to long navy blue pants. Power: Telumkinesis. Telumkinesis is, basically, the ability to summon weapons. In this case, Natalia can turn pretty much any substance, such as dirt, into any weapon she can imagine. This could be anything from a knife, to a sword, to an RPG, to a light-machine gun. This ability does have limitations, however. First of all, only two weapons can be summoned at once. This means that if you have two weapons, and make another, whichever was summoned first will disappear. In addition, when it comes to firearms, they only have 1 'set' of bullets. This means a pistol would have one clip, a shotgun would have enough shells to fill it, an RPG would have one rocket, etc. It is possible to create more ammo from a substance, but it counts as making another weapon, so you can only use one firearm if you wish to create more ammo. Creating another weapon after making more ammo would make the ammo disappear. For a few seconds after the weapon is made, it appears as solid dirt, not having much use unless it's a blunt weapon. Afterwards, however, the dirt falls to the floor, and the weapon is revealed, as if the dirt had only been masking the weapon. In addition, she does not magically know how to use the weapons she summons, so she cannot use a weapon she is unfamiliar with. That said, she does know how to use most things she summons at least basically. She has put a fair bit of training into things such as knives and swords, and can handle most guns, but anything other from that she can't handle. This includes things such as hammers, bows, etc. Backstory: Natalia was born in Kiev, Ukraine, to a Ukrainian mother and American father. She lived out her childhood relatively normally, going through school, making friends, having her first relationship, etc. Once she turned 18, however, something rather strange happened. While she was helping her mother tend her garden, her thoughts turned towards her career path. She wouldn't mind joining the military, and before she knew it, she was holding a pistol. Understandably, she was shocked, and left it in the garden. She ran to tell her parents about the situation, and once she did, her father sat her down. He explained that he was a 'mutant', and that Natalia most likely was as well. He explained everything that he knew about mutants, and that he had worked for the US military in the past. He managed to escape to Ukraine, which is why he lived there in the first place. He offered Natalia two things. Her first option is that she could stay in Ukraine, and pretend she hadn't made the pistol or been told or this. The second option was that they could move to America, having previously discussed this with Natalia's mother, and go from there. What Natalia wanted to do with her powers was her choice, however staying Ukraine wasn't going to get her anyway as far as her powers went. Natalia chose the second option, opting to join the US military. Her Father was not pleased, but supported her regardless, hoping she would enjoy her time there more than he did. She came to the military fully open with the fact that she was a mutant, leading them to give her special training and accept her instantly. By the time she was 19, Natalia fully trained and had learnt how to use her skill properly. By the time he was 20, she was leading her own squad, doing whatever was needed. She had missions to capture other mutants, and missions to simply fight in battles. Once Natalia turned 21, she took on a slightly different role. She received a special uniform, elite squad and new missions. She specialised in capturing mutants, and if need be, killing them. For the most part, the squad just there to support her, as she could easily make things such as taser weapons to subdue her targets. Her uniform was rather simple, and only existed to help her stand out in her squad. She didn't wear armour, as most mutants would stick to their powers. If she did run into firearms, her squad would do most of the fighting for her. Her uniform was basically a white dress shirt, black tie, navy blue 'army uniform' (I.E Buttoned coat sorta thing with collar), which ended with a skirt. She also wore stockings, but it was her choice. Natalia's squad would wear different things depending on the mission. Most of the time, they'd be wearing simple military uniforms. I.E what you would see in a war, green camouflage, Kevlar vests, etc. 'Standard' military uniform. However, on more secretive missions, they'd usually go with civilian clothing and pistols. At times, Natalia would question what she was doing. Most of the mutants she captured were completely innocent, only being captioned just because they were mutants. She tried not think about it to much, but a wave of doubt did come over her frequently. Natalia is now 22, doing missions when she's given them. She is currently in New York, as their have been reports of mutants in the area. She does not have much equipment, however is carrying a pistol with 2 mags, wearing her skirt-uniform with heels and with her squad. She has her black dress shoes, as well as pants, in one of her squad-members backpacks.

Name: Jason Foucault Nickname: Jace, various spellings thereof; less frequently, "Electrician" Age: Thirty-one years Ethnicity: Caucasian Hair color: Brown Eye color: Hazel Height: Jace isn't a tall man, standing around five foot seven. Weight: He's not especially heavy, either; he only weighs a hundred sixty-three pounds. Appearance: Jason looks almost unintimidating, at first. He's a relatively short man, with moderately lengthy, unkempt brown hair and not much muscle to him - he's obviously in shape, but appears to be a light runner at best. Quick to crack a smile, Jace is a frequently clean-shaven man with strong, well-defined features. As far as apparel goes, he generally prefers standard civilian attire: jeans, long-sleeved tee, either a leather or track jacket more often than not. He does, however, keep a half-face ski mask (optionally without the stupidly placed logo) in a pocket with which to at least partially conceal his identity when out doing superhuman stuff. Powers: Jason is immune to the effects of, and can to some extent absorb, most forms of electricity. With this absorbed energy, he can increase his reaction time, strength, and other such abilities to superhuman levels for a brief period of time depending on how much energy he's willing to burn. This power, like all his others, has its limits, though. Increasing his strength or speed doesn't necessarily increase his durability; he's torn muscles more than once, and on one occasion shattered his own wrist trying to punch someone. Jace's ability to absorb electricity can be overloaded, but this takes quite a bit of power. A direct strike from a bolt of lightning, say, could--and would--initially injure Jace like any other human, but with prolonged exposure his body would eventually adapt to the increased voltage. The downside to this adaptivity, however, is that electricity is highly addictive to him. Prolonged exposure to high voltages feels like a hell of a high, and being away from that source for a lengthy period of time leaves him with symptoms similar to withdrawal--itches, shakes, vomiting, craving more--until his body readjusts. Further, Jace can use either this absorbed energy or his own body's bioelectricity to create circular force fields in a small radius around parts his body, no more than one or two feet across at any given time. He could, for example, create a force field around his arm and maintain it for a reasonable length of time, but not his whole body: creating force fields as Jason does requires too much energy to maintain such large fields for longer than a few milliseconds. Further, generating such protective fields using his bioelectrical energy tends to tire him out, often leaving him with a hefty appetite and the inability to carry on fights for a lengthy period of time without some electrical assistance. These fields generate some repulsive force and also tend to shock objects they touch that aren't Jace, so blows reinforced by these fields seem to hurt more than they should and blows made upon these fields hurt quite a bit less. While force fields by nature, the fields he creates are not exactly unbreakable; enough force can shatter them quite easily, though they do absorb most of the impact force. Backstory: Jason Foucault was born in Minnesota to a pair of French Canadian parents, Manon and Guy. He was raised a good little Roman Catholic boy: went to school, ate his vegetables, went to church every Sunday, never questioned his parents, if not necessarily in that order. He grew up a huge hockey fan, played it up through college. Jace attended college at St. Cloud State University, graduated a few years later with a degree in electrical engineering. It wasn't his first choice--actually, going pro was--but electricity made a hell of a lot of sense to him and seemed a pretty reasonable second course of action when he wasn't picked up as a free agent. Jace's powers didn't manifest until shortly after his twenty-fifth birthday. He was an out-of-shape electrical engineer by that point: a few years' job experience, a steady girlfriend, his own house in upstate New York. None of that mattered when a mugger accosted him, even less when the guy just decided to try and shoot him--and Jace unconsciously deflected the bullet with some kind of glowing purple energy field. The field reformed itself around his hand, looking more like armor than something he'd generated with his mind. When Jace went over to punch the guy's lights out and take his money back, he ended up stopping the mugger's heart with a bit too much electrical power. Since then, he's been moonlighting a little bit as a vigilante--maybe because he read too many comics as a kid--and exploring his powers more. He doesn't necessarily agree with the discrimination against mutants, though he is something of a biased source, and maintains some relatively loose ties with what might pass for a resistance or a rebellion: helping them out from time to time, but not necessarily all the time.

Name: Subject 07-T, Kirra Taylor (So original) Nickname: Reverb Age: 18 Ethnicity: Caucasian Hair color: Black Eye color: Red (I'm a mutant, i do what i want!) Height: 5'8" (173 cm) Weight: 55 kg (121 lbs) Appearance: Kirra's dark hair flows down to her shoulder blades, the same location in which her glowing blue birthmark, an unusual pattern, can be found. She has slender frame, wrapped in pale skin, with heavy scarring on her torso. She usually wears long grey denim jeans, a white tee-shirt and a black hooded jacket over the top. She also wears a silver locket around her neck, although it is locked and she does not have the key nor know its contents. Power: Energy Conversion - Absorption This ability allows the user to absorb energy around them, then convert in a way that better suits them. This means they can absorb energy, usually in the form of Heat or Kinetic. They can then redirect it, allowing it to be used as a dangerous weapon. For example, if someone punched you, you could absorb the energy, making the blow hit no harder than a feathered pillow, than redirect the force and break their rib-cage. The only problem with this is the user has to consciously absorb the energy, meaning if you don't know it's their, you can't absorb it. If someone shot a bullet at you, unless realize their is a bullet, you cannot stop it. Like a battery, the energy does build up, although the built up energy cannot be released in bursts and must all come out at once. This can be problematic in many ways, say if you absorbed the energy of a nuclear explosion, its all going to be wasted on one little thing. Another problem is how you release the energy. In the same situation as before, if you absorb the energy of an explosion then release it as an explosion, the effect will be devastating to you and everything around you. The reflexes of the human are not fast enough to absorb the energy when it's released either, so you could not pull of a stunt like that then expect to absorb it and survive. Backstory: Not much was known about Kirra during her early life. She lived with her parents somewhere in the United States, living a normal life. This all changed when she was six years old. Her house was caught in a blazing fire, and her parents perished within. The only reminder she had was her mothers locket, which she had been trying to open at the time of the incident. Kirra was found in the brutal aftermath of the fire hiding in a scorched cupboard. After a short while in a hospital, she was taken to an orphanage. The orphanage was a cold place, were those with terrible lives were picked on by the stronger kids with worse lives, where the staff couldn't care less what happened to its occupants as long as they got paid. Kirra, as one of the younger children, was a common victim. One day, something strange happened. One of the boys who had become quite accustomed to taking out his anger on her. So one day when he pasted her in the hallway, he threw a punch at her. A thought rushed through Kirra's head. A realization. She didn't want to be this kids personal stress reducer, she didn't want to get hurt. And that's when it first happened. The odd birthmark on her back started glowing as the fist travelled towards her. The boys fist barely tapped her, she barely felt a thing. Then he doubled over in pain, coughing up blood, his arm dangling limp at his side. Shortly after Kirra blacked out. When Kirra awoke, she was no longer in the orphanage anymore. She wasn't quite sure where she was. She was lying on a bed, in a white room surrounded by people in white lab coats. In truth, she was in a facility belonging to a branch of the military. They studied young individuals from all over the country, all very special individuals. Why? Because they were what people now know as mutants. Humans who, in one way or another, had gained seemingly supernatural abilities. If you dug a little deeper, it could be seen that by certain key relatives, they were all related to a French scientist from the eighteen hundreds. Year after year, day after day, Kirra was surrounded by scientists. Testing and examining, teaching and training. While some were just tested on, by scientists trying to understand the mutant genome, most were taught how to use their abilities, how to weaponize them. They were being trained to be soldiers, that much was clear. Kirra spent nearly ten years in one of these facilities, more than half her life. She, like many other mutants, were given an education, military grade self-defense training, and the promise of a better future. Most of the mutants could see through the blatant lie, as they were still examined each day, still being trained as weapons. Kirra, like many of her mutant brothers and sister, only wanted freedom and a normal life. And on one fateful day in the year 2015, they finally got it. Kirra had been walking from the lab to her room, as always escorted by a guard, on the day of the breakout. They all new it would happen, so many mutants yearning for freedom, a riot of some kind was inevitable. First the alarms in the facility went of, then the guards panicked as mutants tried to escape. Kirra and a handful of other mutants made it to the ground floor of the facility, but could not manage to reach the main entrance. Instead they did the next best thing. One of the guards, in hope of disrupting or possibly killing the group, through a live explosive at them. Kirra managed to redirect the energy of the explosion towards the nearby wall, creating a gap large enough to escape. Many mutants died or were recaptured in an attempt to escape, but nearly two thousand managed to get out. Today, they live among the general population. Some disguise their abilities and try to live a normal life, while other present themselves openly to the world. Some fight as vigilantes and local police, putting their training to good use, while others went to university and studied, desperately trying to make a name for themselves besides "Mutant". Some failed, some succeeded, it wasn't really Kirra's place to worry about it. Now, at the age of 18, she works as a simple office worker in a small business, hiding herself and her origin for herself. But she could feel something in the air, something familiar. She could feel a rebellion coming. And she was ready to fight alongside her people if the need arose.
