Um...Hi...I'm kinda new to this whole thing but fricken LOVE fallout, playing all the games and knowing everything there is to know, even about the canceled games like tactics 2 and extreme...Seriously they need to make a game were a mutant GECK is the main antagonist. Anyway, this was my character idea, coming from the lack of super mutant characters and my love of the brotherhood, plus inspired but a certain boss which anyone who played the whole series can guess instantly.
Pala Din's originally name was David green, born into the brotherhood, who had his upbringing in the safe and radiation free Lost Hills. His upbringing was pretty basic for a member of the brotherhood, though from an early age he had a big knack for the study of history, both from before and after the war, and though he grew to have a much wider view of the world then just the bunker and the technologies outside. He kept his views to himself however, and in time eventually achieved the rank of paladin, spending most of his time patrolling the hallways not seeing much if any of the outside world. Life was simple but enjoyable. He helped keep some knights in line, collected old history books, but overall he was left wanting, but understood what he had was the best in the wasteland. Things changed when news was heard of the master.
Mobilising for war, he was sent out like most of the brotherhood to act as a spearhead for a unity of settler communities (which after the crisis would form the NCR) all united to offer resistance to the masters army. He was given command of two squads of paladins and some knights due to his scores in VR testing on leadership and got a chance to see action on the coast. During the conflict many battles went sour for the humans and during one, it was such a long time ago he forgot which, he chose instead to set up a defendable position and stand his ground. Though his studies he found barbaric armies that used brute force were often defeated by well defended, well trained and technological superior forces. He would let them rush them, only to be cut down by heavy firepower.
However these were NOT the mutants of today. Equipped with modified combat armor, laser rifles, mini guns, plasma casters and rocket launchers, not to mention they were lead by the most intelligent minds in the wasteland meant he didn't stand a chance. Taken prisoner along with many of his men, he was confronted by the Master himself along with other officers, as he found it amusing debating the ideals and goals of other factions, especially the Brotherhood seeing their goal as pointless. What happened in his chambers is a guarded secret of his (There is a story I'm not just saying that to get out of it...Its called character mystery XD) but after an hour long conversation he willingly chose to change. As far as he knew, he was the first and only brotherhood member to be turned willingly.
Being raised radiation free, his intelligence was boosted, he kept his tall build and was even a head taller then most other mutants. He lead forces for the master against his former brothers but sadly he was in battle when the master was defeated, something he hasn't forgiven himself for. Still loyal to the Master, he continued to lead his troops into battle and while many other mutant leaders left the west coast he thought a gorilla war would see them victory, still believing that the Master still lived thinking he must have hid some of his body to slowly regenerate or that it was all a ploy for him to discover a cure to the sterility hidden and in peace. Sadly, this plan needed the other mutant forces to stand their ground. They didn't. He annoyed the brotherhood, NCR and even the Enclave for decades until with the Enclave removed and most of the NCR issues resolves thanks to the Chosen One the NCR gathered enough resources to track down their mountain base and wipe most of them out. Those who escaped refused to take any more orders and went their separate ways, some settling down, others going after the other mutant groups.
Spending time alone, he was eventually driven into hiding by NCR bounty hunters and spent a few decades in a bomb shelter that had its anti radiation shield made of cardboard and a note that said "You should have paid us Michael!" This resulted in a slow mental breakdown as he slowly came to realise what he had done to his brotherhood and his family. Eventually, he came to the conclusion that he had done nothing wrong. Both the Brotherhood and the Master had mutual goals which did not conflict, the Master wishing to better prepare humanity for the wasteland and the Brotherhood simply taking the tech from those who were not fit for its use. He chose a side during a war but now the war was over, by logic he should be free to return. Managing to collect an old battered suit of T-51b armor, and still showing cracks in his mind, he "Equipped it." This involved stapling the shattered arm plates and motor gear onto his arm, bolting the chest plate on and nailing the helmet onto his skull. He also started calling himself a paladin shortly after, and as some people thought it was a name as opposed to a title, Pala Din stuck, especially since he refused to use his previous name figuring he gave it up with his humanity.
From here he began exploring again hoping to find a Brotherhood chapter to re-join despite the fact their not exactly the biggest fans of what they see as outsiders, let alone mutants. He has engaged with people, even doing odd jobs such as ripping gangs of raiders apart with his bare hands for food and water, and this lead to a mental recovery, though he still shows deep cracks if one pushes on touchy subjects, and his original plan to re-join the Brotherhood has not changed.
His equipment includes a ruined T-51b power armor, the leg and arms attached to different areas of his limbs with thick veins of flesh in between giving the impression he was in the suit when changed, ballooning out and shattering it with only the crotch area and chest plate fitting over though with most of the electronics removed for space. The right shoulder plate shows a peeling Brotherhood emblem while the left shoulder having the words scratched onto it saying "The Master still lives!" and while the dome and face of the helmet are attached to his head the sides and back have been torn away. The helmet itself was an earlier version of the T-51b before the brotherhood managed to simplise many of its components meaning there's a lot more tubing coming from the mask along with an electronic eyepiece that normally rests on his forehead, though is still powered by a energy cell and is often used for night vision and as binoculars. Overall its power armor without the power, less armor and covering MUCH less body, making it more the equal to metal armor. He is equipped with a gauss rifle of Chinese design which has been modified in two ways, first the safety has been removed to give it two fire modes, one firing the normal single high powered shot before a microfusion cell reload, the other firing three shots before a reload but each shot only having a third the power. The second modification is a much larger grip, trigger and stock allowing for easy use by his oversized hands. This gives him a good long range and medium range weapon, and his own fists for melee but lacks any short range ability and he can be swarmed by a dozen melee oriented foes easily.
From face value Pala does seem perfectly fine and logical, a bit quite at first but voicing opinion when subjects come up. He has strong leadership and strong opinions though enjoying a good debate and is very open minded especially to new ideas. However, he is not very good with social exchanges without goals in mind, staying focused on any objective or job. Despite having a cool personality he actually has a huge and violent temper, especially towards closed minded individuals and anyone who consider super mutants monsters. A good way to lose your arms is to talk bad about the Brotherhood, mutants or simply bring up the Master and the war full stop. These violet outbursts don't just end up with punches thrown, he can show animalistic traits if pushed fair enough and this rage can occur in combat if he suffers from enough physical pain. At this time he has no faction alliance despite attempting to re-join the brotherhood.
