At the dawn of -modern- human existence the earth was in turmoil, man roamed as he pleased, he could hunt what he wanted where he wanted, and the only repercussion was that sparked by his fellow man.
But as we all know, man is no fool. Humans are, and have always been the masters of there own destinies, and to help maintain there destiny they created civilization, this revolutionary new concept was created in one of many ways, in one we see a visionary spotting his fellow man in ruin, he is an outcast, with no family, and he has no food, at the stark opposite of the man is the visionary who has a surplus of food, the visionary gladly lends the starving man a portion of his hunt, and a communally socialist society is born, on the other side there is the warlord, who slain many a beast, in his blood lust, he strikes down his fellow man, inspiring fear, and showing now compassion, but he too is a visionary he dreams of a land in peace, just as the visionary from the prior story, but he is not as smart as the other visionary, the only way he knows how to achieve his goals is through brute force, so he creates peace through fear, he unites several groups of families, he has created the first Dictatorship.
There are countless more beginnings, but these are the bare bones of each, over the course of history we have gone from the total anarchy, to communal warring villages, to totalitarian empires, to fledgling first world democracies, no one of these systems is necessarily wrong or right, they were all created by a visionary in there own right, to achieve peace, and harmony some only for the individual, but many for the greater good of humanity.
From this day forward this little slice of the Nexus will be home to the planning page for Diplomacy Unlimited, a foreign relation simulation game, we will be using a site called Nationstates.net A "government simulation" game, but don't worry administrators! This is just to facilitate things we cannot do on the Nexus, here on the Nexus we will have our planning page, and all of the written threads where diplomacy, or war will be enacted out (The principle of the RP will stay rather broad, everyone is encouraged to create a country, but to participate you must have a character from one of the countries, the character can be anything from just a citizen, to a great war general, to the psychotic dictator of the nation)
So now a little bit more about the site, upon my first visit to nationstates I fell in love with the game immediately. When creating your nation you are given several options. (Please hold of on creating your nation just yet, any nations submitted before I say will NOT be accepted into the RP, and yes I can tell when you make it. I will explain why this is necessary later.) Obviously first you name your country be very careful here you can never change your official name (that I am aware of) this is your user name and country name so choose wisely, you will be asked to classify your nation, keep in mind that this will essentially be a name tag in front of your countries official name, for example if your nation is called Armenipakisraelistan, and you classify it as a republic than it will be called The republic of Armenipakisraelistan, you can check to see what title you receive by scrolling to the top of the page after selecting the classification, also you should know that at first you have to pick an existing world flag for your country, but later you can choose to make your own. After all this its time to take a little quiz from the site to determine what kind of country you will have, don't worry about your results, they are not permanent. The point of the game is to make legislation based off of issues that the game supplies you with, this will help determine how your government runs the country.
Keep in mind these countries are just mediums for the RP, which can take place in virtually any form whether it be wars or diplomacy, and are enacted by a character of almost any type from almost any nation, in its purist form this RP is essentially just the Modern mash-up (but you cannot use existing countries, or people), remember if you want to make a character that is from a nation that is not your own than please ask the person who owns it first.
A few restrictions: As I stated before you MUST hold off on creating a country for now because it puts you at unfair advantage to others, and the the whole point of using nation states is to make things fair, everyone starts off with the same opportunities. Please only make 0-2 counties for this RP, preferably just a single one. I already know this will come up so I will mention it now I have already created a NPC nation as of today (11-4-14) it is simply to drive plot, it is an anarchic state so you may make a character but they can basically only be a citizen, this will help drive plot because the very corrupt will try and take it, while the very democratic will try to keep it safe (or possibly abuse it) I have to start this nation early because it is rather difficult to achieve anarchy in this game, and it wont matter if it is ahead of anyone else because it is completely harmless to other countries, and can have no foreign relations.
(Sorry if this is a bit unorganized sometimes I rant.) If you want to create a nation all you need is to join our region (Which i discuss below) and compose a short history of your nation, from its founding to this very day (the RP takes place after the aforementioned anarchy-state plunges into anarchy) if you would like a character than I will create a template at a later day.
There are a couple things we will need, firstly in the game you are able to create a "region" these have virtually no purpose, but its easier to keep track of each other when in the same region so in order for your nation to participate in the RP you will be required to join, I have not created the region yet, but I will when we decide on the name of it please leave your suggestions below, we also require a map to put all of these countries in you will be able to claim a territory for your country which can be expanded (not all territories on the map will be claimed) I've tried to make a map in the past, but i'm just never satisfied with it, I blame MS paint (PS I love you Microsoft don't make me fight bill gates in a gladiatorial arena for your companies honor) so if you would be willing to make a map please speak up, it needs to be relatively large, have multiple continents, and be open to suggestions and other renditions a player may want to implement on the shape, or layout of the map. We will only begin filling it in once we have everyone who would like to play, please leave a message if you would like to participate, and specify if you would like to make just a country or just a character, or both.
Please check this document for updates it will be updated constantly after I gather more information please ask your questions, and have a brilliant day.

i'll hold off on making the character template until we know exactly how many people are making countries, so how many people are making countries? Well let us find out together, the template for a country will be fairly basic for now, and I will leave it below you can ad to it as things about the country change, and you can even add your own parts to it, but all that is really necessary is official name, unofficial name, and history, all other things should be clear in your nation states account.
Below is the official example nation
Official name: The Grand Duchy of Armenipakisraelistan
Unofficial name: Armenipakisraelistan <----- (This is essentially a nickname ex: The United States of America's unofficial name would be America, or the U.S, or simply the States.)
Government type: Democratic capitalist's with a mixed economy (both public, and private sector) <----- (you'll want both what type of government it is i.e. democratic/dictatorship, and economic type i.e. socialist/capitalist.
History: The proud people of Armenipakisraelistan were founded after a bloody civil war between the indigenous peoples of the land, and the brutal fascist minority. <----- (yours will be in greater depth)

It's obvious that at some point the nations in this RP will be waging war against their neighbors, and seeing as the vast majority of people on this website don't tend to draw their own work I figured it may take some of the guess work out of military equipment if we simply used the weapons/equipment of existing countries so here are the rules:
Please post below requesting which countries weapons you wish to claim.
you may claim one countries weapons per country you make in the RP (maximum two countries)
Remember these weapons do not affect how good your country is at waging war. (The outcome of battles are based on RP merit, soldier numbers, strategies used in battle, and military budget).
If two people want the same country you have two options:
A) Decide among yourselves who gets it - Fairly -
Concede and let the other person use it
C) Come talk to me (and we'll use the virtual dice or something to decide who gets it fairly)
You may claim both commissioned and decommissioned weapons of your country of choice.
The weapons/vehicles/uniforms must either have been manufactured in that country, a collaboration between your selected countries and another (unless someone claims the other country) or if your nation is the only one that has ever used that particular weapon (Some countries will build vehicles or weapons for another country, but never actually use it themselves). If your country uses a reproduction of a weapon (for example one of the many variants of AK's) you may only use it if:
A)no one claims the country who made the original weapon
B)You meet the players country in game, and agree to make the aforementioned reproduction.
No one may use Israel, because I claim them for one of my countries, however I have two countries, but they were both technically the same nation at one point, so I don't mind splitting the Israeli tech for both of them, but if no one takes Belgium then I will also take Belgium for my other country.
