Amira had been in the process of checking the tent for any sign of tracks when she was startled by the sound of a voice nearby. On reflex she jumped to the side and pointed her crossbow that direction, not really thinking and just reacting on pure instinct. Of course, once she saw nothing she quickly calmed down and the gears in her head ground to life as she realized that it must have been the camp's owner nearby. As the unseen woman started asking what they were doing, the vixen realized her mistake and quickly lowered it to a rest position, though now that she was aware that someone was watching them she was pretty actively looking around. However, it was obvious that this tiefling was a magic user, that or had some method to become invisible, and right now she didn't really want to tangle with that while there was an army of undead prowling the streets.
Of course, that didn't mean she was that great of a diplomat either. Taking a deep breath, she tried to explain it in as polite a way as she could manage, "We're here investigating the undead harassing the town. They told us you were out here, and we just wanted to check if you knew anything about it. We're not here to hurt you--so long as you don't attack us, we'll do the same." She wouldn't intentionally bring up the topic of the townspeople thinking that the tiefling was the one behind it. While Amira herself was a piss poor liar, she was pretty good at picking it up in others (or at least she liked to think so), so she was more concerned with keeping the tiefling talking and seeing if she knew anything. Some part of her did at least note that it was suspicious that this woman arrived so soon before the undead, but this camp didn't really strike her as something that someone would use to hide out--not with a perfectly good set of caves nearby. Now, that said, if the tiefling asked if the townsfolk thought that, Amira would gladly admit to that (unless the elf beat her to it), though she would be quick to add, "Honestly, I'm skeptical, but your camp was along the way and I'd rather be thorough."
