It has a lantern on a stick for when it gets dark.
The second boat is comparatively larger, and is a small repaired pre-war pleasure craft. Its cargo hold now is filled with crates. This is used only when someone is expecting a large shipment of weapons. It has a working fusion engine, which is maintained by a contractor from the Banks area.

Personality: Elton is a man of questionable morals. In his line of work, he will sell weapons to anyone he feels legitimate enough to trade with. These can be any, raiders, wolves, mutants. He doesn’t really care who gets their hands on his weapons, only that they don’t use it on him. He takes no quarrel with anyone, so long as they leave him be and let him get on with his work. That being said, if they do try and steal his gear, he is likely to shoot them down cold without a second thought. He does not have friends, and he is a man who endorses slavery (he himself owns a slaved named ‘Ead.
Personally, he’s a lonely, grouchy man, who prefers profits to people. He cares for no body but himself. To an extent he’s angry at the world and quite happy to cause more chaos through his work. That being said, Elton is non-judgmental, and questions people very little if their morality does not fit with his own. He likes a friendly drink and a smoke (which is why he carries around cigarettes), but it is really more of a sales tactic rather than to gain any real familiarity between people.
His relationship with ‘Ead is rather plain one, he treats the boy right, so long as he does what he’s told. He doesn’t expect great things from the boy, due to his intelligence, but regardless expects him to follow orders. All in all, ‘Ead is treated well by Elton.
Elton was born in the settlement built over the ruins of St. Augustus, Florida. Due to the encroaching swamplands, residents there had been forced to build their town above ground level, on rooftops, or on newly built scrap shacks. Elton’s family maintained the town’s armoury and weapons production. They would buy broken weapons, and either repair them or reduce them down to spare parts. Naturally Elton immediately began working for his father.
He started off at the age in which he learned to count, which was around four or five, no one was particularly sure, but then again, no one cared. He was tasked with counting the parts and keeping his father aware of how low or high the stocks were, whilst his father dealt with the customers and built or repaired the guns. Elton did this job for many years, until his father showed him how to assemble his first gun at around the age of ten. Soon enough Elton was helping his father fix guns, whilst his younger sister took his role in the stock cupboard.
Many years went by and eventually Elton’s father passed away from sickness. It wasn’t entirely uncommon for people in St. Augustus to die of sickness, the water had become impure for some reason and no one in the town was really smart enough to figure out what was wrong. So people got sick and died, and that was that. Elton passively coped with his father’s death, and took over his business in the town’s armoury.
Around this time, a stranger came to town. It was clear that something wasn’t right about the man, but no one really complained as the man had a lot of money. Who were they to turn away a fresh source of money? Elton met this man during one of his nights drinking at the local watering hole, where they discussed his work, and began to talk of a weapons deal for the stranger and his friends. Glad for the business, and eager to set up the deal, Elton agreed and went home to start work on the shipment. Hastily he put together the order, and the stranger came with his friends, paid for the guns and left.
Elton thought nothing of it, until about a month later the town was attacked and put under siege. The conflict went on for days and days, until the last of the besiegers was caught by the town’s sheriff. Sure enough, the besiegers were none other than the stranger and his friends. Having acquired the guns to attack the town, they had figured there was more they could take by force, and had assaulted the town. Unfortunately for them, they had not counted on the skill of the defenders, and were defeated. Elton however, was found to be complicit in the attack, due to him not notifying the town’s leaders of the deal. They clamped down harsh rules on Elton and closed down his store. In his mind, they had destroyed his business and punished him further by making him watch over the armoury.
Bitter and Angry Elton eventually decided to leave, and eventually took off into the Florida swampland and headed north. Though he wasn’t entirely sure what happened to his home after then, he assumed his sister had taken his job. Good for her, he supposed.
Elton spent the next few years travelling up the coast. He spent a bit of time in various settlements, offering his service to clean people’s guns and making a bit of money. He usually earned enough to carry him over to the next town, and that was okay… for a time. He continued this habbit until he reached North Carolina, where he stumbled into a land rife with conflict and a rising group known as the Wolves. It was here his nomadic travelling lifestyle would come to an end.
Elton, unaware of the swampfolk blundered into a group of them on his way to find shelter. Thinking he was going to die, he began to raise his weapon, when the leader tried shooting him. Miraculously the gun jammed, and didn’t fire. Elton smirked, at his foe, and it was here he saw a way out. Quickly he told the mutant that he could make sure the gun never jammed again, in return for his life. Though he was cautious at first, the mutant handed the weapon over, and Elton sat down to clean it. All the white the natives stood over him with their guns waiting for him to try and kill them. Elton didn’t however, and handed back the gun, once he was done.
The native shot the gun at a nearby tree and sure enough it fired. Joyous, the native was about to shoot Elton, until Elton explained that he’d continue to fix up the native gun’s if he was left to his own devices. Initially this wasn’t really accepted, until the other natives wanted their guns cleaned too. Expertly Elton complied and the natives decided to keep Elton alive, but in a place where they could keep an eye on him. Though it wasn’t exactly what Elton wanted, he was forced to become something of a slave to the natives, working for them and cleaning their guns whenever they wanted him to. He was kept in house arrest in a little car mechanics place they’d found somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
Months and months past, and Elton built up the native trust, until eventually they allowed him to go free, so long as he came by once in a while to clean their guns. Elton agreed and so he moved off into the banks on his own. Elton found his home in Crabtree Bay. There was a small home there, which had remained empty since the war. Thankfully devoid of life, Elton moved in, and began to build his own hideaway.
Eventually he had a workshop set up with tools he had scavenged from various nearby places, and it was around this time that he met another group of natives who had been sent to see him by his other native ‘friends’. Now Elton was in a position to trade, he asked for money in return for repairing their weapons, but unfortunately they couldn’t pay. All they could offer was their son ‘Ead. Though reluctant at first to accept a child as payment, Elton eventually agreed, repaired their weapons and sent them on their way.
It became clear at this point that ‘Ead’s name wasn’t actually Ed, for Edward, but ‘Ead for Head, because that’s apparently all that was there. ‘Ead was incredibly stupid. He couldn’t point and shoot a gun, and he was basically useless. Elton was convinced he had been cheated, until he found the boy would follow any orders given to him without question. He had a strange kind of loyalty, and so Elton decided to keep him.
Around this time, Elton acquired a rowing boat from the nearby campground, and began using it for trips into the distant towns, or to see his native customers. He would come back with his boat full of cheap broken guns.
That was the start of his career. Since then his inventory has expanded, and he has acquired a working pleasure craft which he uses to transport his shipments. He has become well known to the native swampfolk and to a certain extent the Wolves too. He’s a recognisable figure in these places, and it isn’t unknown that he trades with all sides, no matter who they are.
