Born in the Capital Wasteland to a family of wanderers, Wallace was exposed to the cruelties of the nuclear ravaged world at a young age. His mother and father were wandering merchants, never staying in one place for long. This made it difficult for the young Wallace to maintain friendships, but gave him a wanderlust he would maintain his entire life.
At the age of 12, Wallace's father died of Radiation Poisoning, leaving he and his mother alone. Without many options, they settled down in Megaton. It was rough for the Donahue family at first (Wallace's mom worked as a cleaner to the Silver Lantern, but in time they were allowed to live in the common house.), but being resilient, they survived.
The death of his father had a profound affect on the young lad. Wallace felt he didn't get to know his father enough, and was left with a sense of regret, though his iron will wasn't broken by this.
At the age of 19, Wallace bid farewell to his mother and began to wander the wastes in search of Caps and glory. While stopping at Rivet City, he met a lady one year his junior named Rose. The two quickly hit it off and became lovers. They began wandering together, eventually settling down in a shack they built in the Centeral area of the Capital Wasteland a few years later. Wallace would hunt animals and sell their hides to various markets. He would be known as Calico Wallace to the folk he did business with, thinking it had a nice ring to it people would remember.
Occasionally doing work for the Regulators, Wallace had found a stable, settled life; something he had never known his entire existence.Though this new life wasn't without danger; raiders, mutants, and scavengers just to name a few, Wallace enjoyed it and began writing tales in his spare time.
