Name: The Royalists
Type of Faction: Government
Faction Leader: The King (Yet to be named)
Active Characters: Janus Fitzgerald
Other Notable Figures: N/A
Goals: To reinstate the King as leader of the United Kingdom and defeat the Government.
Beliefs: They’re mostly rebels who hate the government, although some still see the King as a pawn, he is more preferable than the High Minister.
Allegiances: They have a small allegiance with the Highlanders in the North, if only to aid their impact on the Government. They also have trade agreements with the Euro Traders.
Enemies: The British Government
Headquarters: Windsor Castle, Windsor, England
Locations:
The Royalist territory’s cover the entire south-west of England, reaching as far up as the southern borders of Birmingham, and reaching right across to Windsor, touching upon the Greater London areas. There are many farms across this region, which are being used by the Royalists, who hold a relatively firm grip on peace in the region. There are many fishermen, who capture and kill the mutant crabs that come ashore looking for an easy meal, which they ironically become themselves.
Their northern borders are a warzone, with trenches built on either side. These trenches run all the way up until Oxford and then begin again along the border from Windsor down.
Windsor is the capital of the Royalist country, with Windsor Castle as their palace. It is a very clean place, full of grandeur that is awe-inspiring. It is meant to look grand and impressive, with soldiers in every direction. There is an army stationed at Windsor always, and security is at the utmost important. The best of the best is stationed there and emplacement guns are put at strategic points.
The city of Bristol is at the capital of industry in the eyes of the Royalists. There they build ships, in order to beach Cardiff, with recycled metal. Engineers are celebrated here, and it is a profession that can make someone very rich. Navy yards and academies have cropped up in recent years, and weapons manufacturers have also moved into town. There are many factories and houses being built every day.
Armaments: Though high end gear is restricted for the Palace (or Castle) Guard, they will often come armed to the teeth with explosives. Rifles, shotguns, pistols and other such arms are common amongst the ranks depending on personal preference.
Armor and Uniform: Due to their history with the Government, a lot of their outfits are exactly the same as their enemies, making fighting them very difficult for both sides. Royalist soldiers however, will have a crown insignia arm band on their right or left arms. Most of their armours will often be in worse condition too.
Vehicles: a small navy along with marines and sailors. Though the ships aren’t ocean worthy they can sail across the Bristol Channel. Amphibious landings are frequent against Cardiff and the other towns and cities across Wales.
Technology: They have acquired artillery guns, and have spread them around the areas close to Windsor. They’re in the process of setting up their own radio transmitters, and in some areas, particularly near the frontlines, they have set up and have good area coverage.
Other: Since the royalists have a firm hand on their own areas, they have a lot of farms in the country, and villages and towns are a common sight.
Numbers: 300,000
As the bunkers opened in England and Wales, people loyal to the monarchs and the government stepped into the sunlight for the first time in their lives and began to live a human life again. The government quickly settled the cities and began to rebuild. Over time a separation fell between the government and its monarch. When the king and his family was taken into custody and deposed by the High Minister, supporters of the royals rallied up and started a civil war.
Initially, the royalists had twenty per cent more fighters than the government had, outnumbering them by at least half the Government’s population. Overtime however that number dwindled, and pockets of royalist resistance across northern England and Wales surrendered. After one final push of the royalists in the south, they entered London and rescued the King from the Tower of London, and retreated back to Windsor, where they made it their capital. At around the same time, the royalist supporters in Berkshire, overthrew the government forces there and aligned with the King. Soon after it was followed by Bristol and the Cornish coast and soon the south-western portion of England was taken over by Royalist forces.
With the infrastructure put in place by the British Government before the Royalist uprising, the royalists pacified their region quite easily. Actual farms were set up in the countryside and raiders were defeated. A radio station was started up in Bristol to broadcast anti-High Minister propaganda to be heard across England and Wales.
Though fighting remained across the borders between the Royalists and the Government troops, the Royalists went back to focus on building stability in the region. Bristol built factories to build weapons and ammunition, whilst Windsor rebuilt its castle, which was to become a palace for the King. Berkshire also built factories, but this time for Artillery, as it was only just upriver from Windsor, they could easily transport the weapons to the frontlines if needed. The Cornish coast became the supply lines for the troops.
The Royalists over their time have led many invasions against Birmingham, aiming to cut off supplies to Cardiff and has been very successful, forcing the Government supply runners to venture into dangerous territories with valuable supplies. Along with the invasions of Birmingham, they have defended Windsor from attack time and time again. Most recently however, Bristol has built naval docks and started to build small to medium sized vessels for landings in Cardiff. Though the campaigns in Cardiff have been relatively unsuccessful, they have made the living conditions there truly dreadful.
