"Come in, Command. This is Overwatch Alpha, how copy?" Rain fell from the sky in gallons, an armored knee dug into the mud as it's owner surveyed the village below. "Solid copy, Overwatch Alpha, report." Capt. Layla Kinlan pressed down the receiver on her radio to reply "ODST team Charlie have reached the DZ, I've got a clear visual... well, as clear as can be in this weather." the sky was a dark gray and the rain made it nearly impossible to see with the naked eye. Kinlan switched on her thermal vision, now able to see the drop team more clearly. The landscape was tropical, with bizarre bright colors on the flora and fauna, though it was very hard to tell any color besides gray. The village was small, with wooden houses spread out, along with stands for buying food and other things. On the outskirts of the village there were assorted pens for livestock. However, the hamlet was completely deserted. "Alright Overwatch Alpha, Operation Sherlock Holmes is active." On the last word the ODST team starts to move up, Kinlan raises up her sniper rifle scope to her visor. Her job is to provide elevated protection to ODST team charlie as they investigate the village, then rendezvous with them at the outpost outside of the village. The team slowly scans the village, checking house to house, for an hour nothing eventful happens, the team reaches the 'Town Hall' of the village and get on either side of the door, preparing to breach. Kinlan zooms in on them, there is a pause, then one of them kicks open the door and is immediately met with a gun blast, knocking him backwards.
The rest of the team fires into the town hall, Kinlan tries to locate the shooter, but the windows are boarded up, "ODST Team Charlie to Overwatch Alpha, come in!" Kinlan clicks the receiver on "This is Overwatch Alpha, go ahead." "Alpha, do you have a visual on the shooters?" "Negative Charlie, the windows are boarded up, how is your shot trooper?" Kinlan can hear shooting in the radio, she knows the trooper hasn't got up yet, but their armor should've minimized the damage. She still couldn't get a bead on the shooters. "Dunno, he hasn't moved yet and the fire is too heavy to get him to cover." Kinlan checked her ammo and replied "I've got a heavy flash round that could stun them, and allow you to get your guy and flank them, your face is gonna have to be in the dirt when I fire it though." More gunfire. "Alright, do it, I'll make sure my guys are on the ground." "Copy that, over." Kinlan switched off her radio and loaded a heavy flash round into her rifle. She raised it up to her visor, she had to compensate for rain and wind and get it right into the doorway. She saw the team drop and fired, about 3 miliseconds later a huge flash went up, that even made her squint. She saw them grab their downed guy and move to the right of the town hall, firing through the plywood on the windows and effectively slaughtering whoever was in there. One of the team members tended to the wounded, as the rest charged through the back securing the building. Kinlan watches the Hall for a second, then lowers her weapon, hearing a dispatch from the ODST team "Command, this is ODST Team Charlie." "Copy ODST Team Charlie, what's your status?" a pause "All are alive and well, one trooper a little shaken up, and...Jesus Christ."... " ODST Team Charlie? Charlie, what's in the building?" A pause, then a shaky breath "It's Them."
