He pretends to be very holy, never eating meat or harming any creature, but his servants know about his true personality and give him whatever he wants, and if they talk, Graham will simply call them heretics and they will disappear. It's the same story with his two bodyguards, but he is much more friendly with them.
History (Read the Followers of the Aspects for this to make sense. Here's a link: apocyliptica.yuku.com/topic/1304/The-Followers-of-the-Aspects#.UfpyO5Korfc)
A Brief History of the Town of Ramshackle: Ramshackle is a small town in the Lake District. Built out of the abandoned ruins of Keswick, Ramshackle is a town of shacks and poorly constructed buildings (hence the name), but although it doesn't look much, it's one of the most well known towns in the Lake District, as it provides a hub of trading for raiders from across the whole county. Ramshackle was originally founded by a tribe of raiders named the Brigantes who needed a home. Soon, though, the raider spirit died out as the people settled down, and the tribe disbanded, making Ramshackle a neutral town. When the other raiders in the district learned of this, it wasn't long until they began attacking. However, the people in the town were not going to give up easily, and fought back as hard as they could. Because the town now had walls, the residents had more advantageous positions than the raiders, and always beet them with minimal citizen casualties. Any raiders killed would be impaled on spikes and placed around the walls of the towns to scare off any attacking raiders. To this day these warnings are still in place, although there is not much flesh on the bodies anymore. Eventually, the raider attacks became more and more infrequent, until eventually they stopped altogether. After a while, raiders began to come to the town not to attack, but to trade with other raiders and make merry. This was only possible because the town was not under the control of raiders or another faction, but was in fact neutral, meaning that raiders were safe in the town. Even when two enemy raiders are in the town together, they don't fight because that would upset the town's neutrality. If any raiders are caught fighting, they are executed by their peers and put on the spikes outside the town walls, warning raiders not to upset the peace. This is how the town was, until Graham came up with the Followers of the Aspects.
Graham's History: Graham was born an albino, a fact that he used to hate. He was born to a family who owned the only inn in Ramshackle, and as a result it was a very wealthy family. Because they were wealthy, they hired someone to teach Graham to read and write. Because of his wealth and the fact that he was an albino, made him a prime bullying target. When he was little, he used to play outside with the other kids, but bullies would just beat him up and steal his money. This meant that instead of going outside, he would just stay in the inn, serving raiders and staying in his room learning to read and write. It is this way he learned to talk well, because if you slip up while talking or giving a raider's order, you have to have a damn good tongue to convince them not to give you a beating. He also learned how to talk to adults well at an early age, as his parents wanted him to be friendly to customers as they may come back. Overall, Graham had a very lonely childhood, but a very beneficial one for his future career.
When Graham was around 12, he began to spend less and less time at the inn, and more time in his room, until his face was rarely seen in the inn. He liked alone time, as it meant that he could sit and think. He began to realise that he what he wanted was power. He was never a strong boy, but he had always wanted power and influence over people ever since he was bullied and was powerless to stop it. As Graham grew stronger, he began to venture out of Ramshackle and into the surrounding countryside, exploring the mountains and lakes. He understood why where he lived was known for its beauty before the war. Of course, exploring was dangerous, as the raiders were not friendly in the wilds, and there are a lot of animals that would want to attack a twelve year old boy, but Graham did it anyway. By the time he was 13, Graham spent next to no time at home, often even sleeping in the wilds. He had armed himself now with a pistol though, as he was attacked by a flock of minor bats towards his thirteenth birthday, and was only able to fend them off because he had a small penknife on him. On one of his explorations, he found a small circle of stones encompassed by mountains. When he went home that night to eat, he asked his parents about it. It turned out that the place was fairly well known, as it is believed to be over 3000 years old. Graham's parents told him that it was called Castlerigg, and that people assume it is a religious site. From then on that was Graham's favourite spot. He would travel to Castlerigg every day and sit and think. He found it very peaceful, he felt at one with nature. When he was seventeen he began to think of the place more and more. He found it fascinating that these 3000 year old rocks have outlived the most advanced of buildings, surviving the Great War where they didn't. It was then he began thinking about his lust for power again. He began thinking about the ancient times. He had read in a book that his parents had given him that ancient British men were all religious, all united by one religion. He began thinking that if he came up with a religion that was convincing enough, he would be able to unite the raiders with it. That's what the Celtic people had in common, a religion. He remembered something from the same book about druidic religions, that they tended to have an animal associated with them. Based on his knowledge of druidic religions and his own intelligence he came up with the Followers of the Aspects. The only problem was convincing people that it was real. It was then that the one factor that had plagued him all the way through his childhood became his greatest ally: his albinism. Most raiders will not have seen an albino before, nor know what an albino is. Due to Graham's reclusive nature in the past few years, those who had seen him before will not remember who he was, meaning that he can claim a miracle has happened to him and his skin has turned pure white, and the only people who know he is lying are his parents. When he returned home, he began preaching his fiction to the raiders in the town square. Before long he had a raiders around him, some of them sniggereing but most of them drunk and open for suggestion. Graham's original religion consisted only of the Aspects of Truth, Charity and Freedom, with Freedom being the most important Aspect. Because Graham knew raiders, he knew that they hated the Government, so he added that the Government were the enemies to get support. When he said "The true enemy is Miriam Ahab, who is Heresus, the source of all evil", the crowd erupted with cheers of approval, with people shouting about how much they hate Ahab. Once the crowd had settled down, Graham continued his speech. "Earlier today I was sleeping in Castlerigg, I'm sure most of you have heard of it, when the Bicorn himself came to me in my dream. He delivered to me the message I just passed onto you, that we must eradicate Miriam Ahab!" The crowd cheered again. "Then, when the Bicorn had passed his holy message, he proved to me that it was the truth, as when I woke up, I looked like this!". Graham threw off his robe, revealing his albinism. A sharp intake of breath was heard from the whole crowd.
"It's a miracle!" Came a voice, and then suddenly the crowd erupted again in amazement, all talking to each other about what they just saw. They completely bought it. Graham's plan had worked a dream. He repeated what he had said about the aspects, and this time the raiders were actually listening, still amazed at what they had just seen. Graham continued preaching for a few days until what he had said became cemented into the minds of the raiders who passed through Ramshackle. Soon, it was not uncommon for people to follow Graham around, doing his bidding. People really did believe that Graham was the Bicorn Reborn. The Followers of the Aspects began to gain a large following, and before long everyone in town believed in it, even his parents followed it, although they couldn't have truly believed in it as they knew Graham was lying about his transformation. The Followers would always do as Graham said, as they believed him to be a god. Raider casualties in the wastes also began to decline, as they were united in their religion. Some raiders began to get fanatic about certain Aspects, committing themselves to that way of life and doing exactly as the laws of the Aspect suggest. These fanatics later became the Zealots, who do everything from keeping the law to torturing people. It wasn't long until sacrifices began to occur, as some of the raiders wanted to please certain deities. The sacrifices, however, started to become more and more serious. At first, only creatures like mutant squirrels were sacrificed, then goats were sacrificed, mutant deer, dogs, and finally, humans. Raiders often used human sacrifice as a way to get rid of their enemies, and would kill sometimes entire tribes of raiders under the excuse that it was a sacrifice. The excuse of sacrificing also let psychos kill whole families just for fun, but they would say it was a sacrifice, so it was okay. The town was held in the grasp of the religion, and most residents locked themselves in their houses for fear of being killed. The town became lawless because of the religion, and raiders could pretty much do whatever they liked, as there was more of them than there was of residents. That was when one bright spark decided it would be a good idea to sacrifice the Bicorn Reborn to the Bicorn as the ultimate sacrifice. Luckily, Graham had supporters who still believed in the fundamental principles of the religion. There were five of them, Gary North, who was a zealot for freedom, Simon Graham, who was a zealot for charity, Nieve O' Neil, who was a zealot for truth, and Andrew Draper and Basil Fletcher, who weren't zealots for anything. These five tipped off Graham about the plan to sacrifice him, allowing him to escape Ramshackle with them before any of the raiders noticed.
Graham spent the next year wandering the wasteland. Although he didn't know an awful lot about living in the wastes, he had five raiders who pretty much did everything to keep the living god alive. He didn't know what had happened to his parents, but he was pretty sure that they were sacrificed with the rest of the town. He was depressed. He was certain that the religion would work, but it had failed and cost him his home and his parents. He knew that a religion would work, he just had to get the right formula. After thinking for a few months, he realised he was going to have to sacrifice most of the freedom of the religion. He realised that an organisation where the members can do whatever they want was doomed from the start. He added in the Aspect of Community, saying to his five followers that the Bicorn came to him in a dream again. Having laws would make the religion organised, but he also needed to stop sacrifices all together, so he added in the Aspect of Equality, saying that all creatures have an equal right to life, therefore sacrifices can't be made. He also decided to make the Zealots official groups instead of small bunches of fanatics. This way he could use their fanaticism to make them work and keep order in the religion for next to no pay. Again, he revealed this to his five followers in the same fasion, and he rewarded them for their loyalty by making them heads of the different groups of zealots. At all the settlements he came across he would preach his new, revised message in the same way he had done two years ago in Ramshackle. Again, he amassed followers because of the miracle that people believed had happened to him, but he didn't gather as many people as quickly because of the fact that raiders would have to obey laws. Ordinarily a raider would never obey laws, but the Aspects of Community and charity tempted them to join as they provide security, saying that if you are in need of food and you need help, it will be provided for you. Because Graham was a travelling preacher, he gathered followers from allover the Lake District, and within a year he had around five hundred loyal followers. It was at this point that he decided he would have to retake Ramshackle, as the people there know of his failed attempt and could potentially bad mouth them. Not only that, but he wanted revenge because they had taken advantage of him and his religion, let alone murdering everyone he knew. Retaking the town would be fairly easy, after all, he outnumbered them massively. He made a speech to his followers, saying that "The men and women in the once noble town of Ramshackle have defiled its name by practicing heresies in every corner of the town, murdering and stealing as they please. The Bicorn has therefore bid me permission to take over the town and cleanse it of its heresies." The speech was longer, but it was more or less just repeating the same message over and over again in different words. A week later, the siege of Ramshackle started. Surprisingly, it lasted five months. On the final day, an enormous man opened the gates to the town. He was incredibly skinny , and you could see his spine through his stomach. The story was the same for the rest of the raiders trapped in the town. The only reason they had given in was because of hunger. A few of them had tried cannibalism, but even to a raider it felt wrong. These men and women all died except one before they could be executed, the final man being beheaded three days later. Graham had only suffered 51 casualties out of around 500. So the siege was regarded as a success. It could have been better though, and Graham knew that. The problem with raiders is their disorganisation. Graham wanted power, and here he had power, but his power wasn't strong enough. He knows what he needs, he needs to get some of the Highlanders on his side, that's where the real power is. Using Ramshackle as a base, Graham continues to expand his religion's territory, but one day hopes that he will be able to unite the Highlanders with religion and eradicate the Government, that way he would be in control of the whole of England.
