William Jacobs was born in Novac, 2251. His mother taught him to use a shotgun when he was 8. His family tried to move to New Vegas when he was 15 due to his uncle living there. On their way were caught in the crossfire of a Legion raid. When the dust cleared they, along with the survivors were taken in as slaves. They began to be transported to Techatticup mine. While they were being transported they were freed by luck. Pure dumb luck. A Deathclaw had started hunting in that area. It attacked their captors, killing them and subsequently bleeding out. One of the slaves tore off its hand and freed them. Jacob ran as though he were mad. Running through a canyon where he passed a trading Caravan. The Caravan was ambushed by Raiders. They killed the traders and Jacob took a shot through the neck. An NCR Ranger saw the scuffle and assisted, killing the Raiders where they stood and Jacob was left with damaged vocal cords. William joined the NCR at the age of 18. He partook in 13 skirmishes against the Great Khans. He was sanctioned as a sniper and had a recorded kill count of 49. He became a Ranger after 4 years of service, participating in many skirmishes with Caesar's legion. He served for with the rangers 7 years, and is going on 8. The last major skirmish he participated in was Battle of Hoover Dam. He now wanderers the Mojave with a big iron on his hip. |

Hi, I'm Zel, I'm one of the mod here to look over your character.
Though this character is good concept wise... I think the main issue this character is going to have in the wasteland is that he's going to be pretty much unable to communicate with people in the wasteland. Paper's not all that cheap, so having him write stuff down is just going to proof too expensive to be realistic in any real regard. Not to mention... no one in the wasteland pretty much has any idea about sign language. He's probably going to require an interpretor at all times when he's communicating with people, 'cause I doubt people are gonna give someone,who can't talk, the time of day to actually communicate with him... Let alone if they have the ability to read the book that would act as a translator for them. So I dunno how you want to manage this. Either you're gonna have to give him a companion who can talk (which would require some more details about said companion in this profile at the end, another entirely new character, so instead of just this guy, you'd have two characters in a thread, or convince someone else to take up the role of an interpretor.

Thank you for the input! That is a point that crossed my mind after I was finished, I could probably change it to that it just impaired his speaking slightly.

Alrighty, with that in mind, we should go over the rest of the profile.
If he was born in 2251, he'd be 32, not 27 (since New Vegas takes place in 2281 and the current site date is 2282). I think you meant 2256, because the Ranger Unification Treaty happened in 2271 which would mean an NCR ranger would be a thing at aged 15, otherwise it'd be five years too early
I'd like to see your history expanded. Your paragraphs are a little thin. I think that an explanation as to why his family would want to move to the capital wasteland, 'cause the likelyhood of them even being aware something exist there is pretty slim. It's pretty far away and there isn't really any solid link for information to travel across the country. I'd also like an expanse on his role in the NCR military... seen as though Rangers are a pretty tough bunch of guys, so he'd need to be pretty skilled and as such, an explanation is needed.
