The Moon Elves of Selona
{Faction Overview - Click to View}
The Moon Elves of Selona, have spent years in isolation away from the majority of their elven counterparts. They are nocturnal and deeply religiously motivated. They have been accompanied by their Drow and Wild Elf racial “offspring”, for some time. They have deep links with the Sun Elves primarily and they claim to have blood lines with all other elf races on the western side of Gabriola.
Whilst they are usually quite friendly, they can be fiercely passionate about their beliefs, and they often become soldiers through religious motivations. Now united with their mirror race, the Moon Elves were absorbed into the Confederacy soon after the wood elves and the Sun Elves signed their treaty. They serve with absolute devotion.
• Moon Elves – The Moon Elves make up the primary bulk of their army, and all have enchanted armour. Most only have enchantments to make them glow in the moonlight in a sort of uniform style, whilst others contain other enchantments that give them greater magical abilities. They have paladins, and moon priests who serve side by side with the normal foot troops.
• Drow – Almost exclusively magic users, they can summon creatures to aid them in battle, and can sometimes even use mind effecting abilities. This is an ability not exclusively allowed in Selona when used against intelligent creatures, and is usually kept hidden amongst the Drow population.
• Wild Elves – These elves come in bands, as they’re few in number, they don’t massively change a battle, however the Moon Elves appreciate their willingness to fight for them.

{98 - Selona}
Terrain: Their western border with Castien is covered in a vast swamp, with many wild elf settlements in the area. Further inland, the swamp dries out to a land of endless hills, mountains, crevices and woodland. Tall trees cover a lot of the land, though it is mainly tall grass and meadows. As you get closer to the blackbriar forest, the woodlands thicken and darken, though there has been a perimeter cut in recent years as the confederacy as sought to make a border between the forest and Selona. Near the north and south coasts however sit great port cities.
Army: Selona’s main army is made up of several thousand troops scattered about the province. Moon Elves primarily make up of around 80% of the numbers, whilst the Drow make up 15%, and the Wild Elves a further 5%. Whilst mainly combat forces, the army has a significant support group, including but not limited to; sorcerers, priests and healers.
In addition to the standing army, Selona has detachments of forces from all over the Confederacy in preparation for any possible threat from the Blackbriar forest. Along the border there are many small forts housing the different races, and the number changes regularly, but sticks to around 1000.
Brief Description: The Moon Elves of Selona, are often stated to be the exact opposite of their sun Elf counterparts in Assanor. This seems to be far truer than people believe, if certain records are read and compared. It is said that in the beginning there was only one pure elf, and they found it to be a lonely existence, and so they decided to produce children. In some feat of accidental magic, now lost to time, the elf split his being in two, creating two elves. One was a sun elf, and the other was a moon elf. Whilst being in love, the two eventually found their differences to be too distinct, and as such separated. The Sun Elf moved west, and settled in Assanor, whilst the moon elf settled in Selona. The two then sowed their seeds and created their races. It did not stop there however, as the two races were drawn together over the expanse that was later known as Castien. It is said that it was here, that the wood elves came into being when the two races met. Unfortunately for the two races, the wood elves grew to be defiant in their protection of the land they called home. At around this time the forest of Melhesari grew. This divide would almost permanently divide the races, and they wouldn’t, until recently, unite again.
In their isolation, the moon elves developed their religions and culture, preferring the night to the day. They began to romanticize the dawn and dusk as if remembering the times when they were one with the Sun Elves. Out of their isolationism, the moon elves were said to have created two subraces of Moon Elves. The Drow came first; their rugged darkness was built out of their emotions, seeming morally corrupt, and in some cases, even evil. Second came the wild elves, born to moon elves who sought unity with the wood elves.
The Moon elves over time began to develop skills in enchantments and heavily focused in magic. Moon Elf silver was created, made to be stronger than steel, and deadly to creatures weak to it’s properties (See werewolves and other such creatures of the night).

The Moon Elves are the biggest race in Selona and they roughly make up around 60% of the population. With milky-white skin, and grey eyes, they are said to be mirrors of their name sake. They often have white or black hair (though some believe this to be really dark blue). Unlike their Sun Elf counterparts, they are almost all magic users, and are at their strongest during a full moon. They have specific skills in their crafts, particularly with their ability to make silver stronger than steel.
After living life isolated from their beloved Sun Elves, the Moon Elves have found their satisfaction within the Confederacy, and now many have found themselves Sun Elf partners.
Mount of choice: Moon Elf mounts are flying feathered, four legged bat like creatures called Orsi, these mounts use echo-location to find their prey and take a lot to be tamed.

{Drow - Click to View}
Similar to their Moon Elf “parents”, the Drow are highly religious and are all magical in some aspect. They make up a significan portion of the population of Selona. Drow are highly motivated by their emotions, feeling everything that much deeper than any other type of Elf. They are drawn to the darker sides of life far more easier too, but if they find something to fight for, they’ll put their everything into it. Unlike their Moon Elf “parents”, they have dark purple or blue skin, with white or sometimes blue eyes. They almost all exclusively have white hair, though there are some differences.
Drow can be telepaths (requiring contact) which makes them perfect animal breeders and they are able to sometimes become one with their animals. This has been documented to work on sentient life too, however this is considered a crime in Selona.
Mount of choice: Drow can use any mount, depending on what they fancy, aand they do this by ‘merging’ their minds with the beast, making it become an extension of themselves. Some have been known to use giant spiders.

{Wild Elves - Click to View}
Wild Elves were born when the Moon Elves reached out to the wood elves many years ago. They were wild and sometimes rabid, and fiercely strong. Most of their features were inherited from the Wood Elves, with brown hair and green eyes being predominant features. They are somewhat barbaric and tribal nomads, appreciating strength above all else. They have no real religions, besides that of hunting, which they do ritualistically in the swamps they inhabit. No other elf race to date could be considered as uncultured as these, however, they do seem fond of the various elven crafts and collect them as ornaments to decorate their tents.
Mount of choice: Though the wild elves haven’t really domesticated any animals to speak of, they can sometimes be found riding elk.
