Born on Reach, Paul had been raised as a military brat, with both parents serving honorably in the UNSC Navy. His father was a Lieutenant on a destroyer, and his mother was a pilot. Paul enlisted as soon as he was old enough to enlist, seeing it as his only real career choice. He scored well on his basic training tests to join the ODST's. He volunteered, and joined.

He went through the same grueling specialist training as most ODST's, learning advanced combat techniques and strategies to stay alive in combat. His first jump went off without a hitch, and he was officially an ODST. After three years of service in the ODST's, suppressing insurrectionist revolts across the galaxy, he volunteered for advanced training in the usage of Jetpacks.

After that, he was reassigned to a squad of jet-pack using ODST's that became infamous for their lightning attacks on Innie facilities. The ODST's would jump into combat in pods, then off they go into the air on the wings of a jetpack. He wielded a shotgun for most of these missions, being the teams pointman, and was decorated several times.

At some point however, Paul broke and refused to follow orders on a combat mission. He refused to shoot an Insurrectionist, instead snapping and killing his commanding officer. The insurrectionists brought him into the fold after that, helping him recover from his snap and bringing him into their fold. The next time Paul was spotted was during an Insurrectionist raid on a UNSC Military facility, or at least someone believed to be the renegade Sergeant, and soon reports and rumors started to pile up. Due to this, and other actions, him and the Insurrectionist team he's a part of have garnered quite the reputation.

More recently, a person believed to be Paul Faulson has been reported to have been involved in the training of Insurrectionist Spartans, teaching them the same skills taught to him as an ODST. His actual rank in the Insurrection at this point in time is still unknown, but he is not believed to be in a higher-up officer position. It is speculated that he is merely a trainer of the Insurrectionist forces, or a team leader.

Paul is a fan of tricking and trapping his opponents, realizing that his new home is no match for a straight up fight against the UNSC. He loves lightning quick raids, and then slipping away into the dark. At least one UNSC squad was reported missing, and then later found in a clearing, obviously ambushed and wiped out to a man.
