It had been quite a boring wait for Teek, sitting quietly in his hiding spot out behind a jewelry store in the city of Anvil. He'd spent the past several hours waiting for the sun to finally sink behind the horizon, eventually casting Tamerial in darkness. Then another hour or two of waiting for the candlelight in the upstairs bedroom of the building to finally go out, a sure sign the proprietor of the facility had finally called it a day. It was just a little past 11:00 pm when Teek finally emerged from the bushes, his limbs a bit sore and stiff for sitting in one place for so long. Fortunately the bushes he'd been hiding in were just one backyard over from his query, and he wouldn't need to risk showing himself on the streets out front. Being out this late would surely bring questions, and if he was searched the items on his person would have made it painfully obvious what he was out doing. Teek wasn't focused on the risks however, rather the reward as he quietly slipped over the stone wall separating the store's backyard from the residence's one he'd been hiding in. Staying low, the Argonian would quickly make his way across the yard to the back door of the jewelry store. Once there, the reptilian would take a knee and slip his pack off of his back, quickly retrieving his lockpicking kit from it and open it up. After selecting the proper tool and one of his many lockpicks, Teek would silently go to work on door's lock. While it was a fairly high quality lock, within a couple of minutes a faint tell tale 'click' would sound, a clear indication he'd been successful in picking it. Ever so delicately, Teek would grasp the handle and turn it before slowly pushing the door inwards, disappearing into the complete darkness of the store before closing it gently behind himself. Once inside the pitch black room, the thief would work a little magic, casting Night Eye upon himself. After being blinded for a couple of seconds, Teek's eyes would quickly adjust to the night vision, and he'd scan the room. Many shelves and display cases lined the walls, all jammed pack with valuable pieces of jewelry and accessories. With footsteps so light one would likely have to strain to hear them, the reptilian would get to work picking open the cases and putting the contents into his pack, gemstones specifically going into one of his empty coin purses.
A minute would go to five, five to ten, ten to twenty and so on and so forth. Teek was in no hurry, so long as he remained quiet, which he was very good at doing, he could remain there in the store for hours. To rush the tedious task of clearing the shop would have been sloppy, better to take ones time and do it right the first time. Right away it became clear that this would be a lucrative haul, provided the gemstones Teek was getting his hands on were of good quality anyways, he'd take the time to appraise them properly after he was finished and somewhere safe however. While a few of the locks on the various cases were rather stubborn, all would fall to the well practiced hands of the Argonian, with over two decades of experience under his belt, Teek would boast there wasn't a lock in the land he couldn't crack given enough time and the proper tools. Slowly the reptilian's pack would fill with loot, in just a few more minutes the store would be cleaned out and he'd be ready to make his exit.

Ah the anticipation of waiting. Some other thieves that Casara knew had often said that it was like the tensing of a bow while out hunting; you track the deer for a while, wait for it to get into the perfect position, you tense the bow, and then... RELEASE! The young altmer was in the tensing moment right now, crouching behind some barrels in a nearby alley. Her hood was pulled up and her equipment being checked as the moon rose and the proprietor of her target store went about his nightly routine. She had spent some time casing the place a few days ago, claiming that she was looking for a ring to enchant proper-like and wanted it to be just the sort of thing to be proud of, even amongst her family at home in Summerset. Through this she discovered an interesting fact: the good stuff wasn't out front in the display cases. Oh, there were some good examples, and she intended to collect on those, but she had every intention of getting the good loot first, in case something went awry. Eventually the lights went out and she saw to her delight that all was ready for her next heist. Making sure that she had her mask in place and her hood pulled tight, she quickly slipped over to her target area and to the window she'd planned on using for her entrance. Looking about to make sure that there were no guards nearby, she quickly whispered a jump spell and leaped onto the balcony gracefully, landing with a the lightest of taps. She'd debated using the doors or even a downstairs window, but she knew that those would be better locked, and while she was pretty good with a pick, she didn't want to waste the time. Whispering a few more words her hand glowed faintly against the lock of the window, and to her delight it came open with the softest of clicks. And just like that, she was in. Child's play.
Once inside, she could take a breath of relief and take her time a little more. The owner was still happily snoring, dreaming his little jeweler dreams in his jeweler house with his jeweler wife. Creeping downstairs, she didn't even go into view of the front room--she went straight to the man's office downstairs. Initially she didn't see any safe, but after checking the first of the two most obvious locations, in this case behind a painting, she would find her prize. Grinning to herself, she would quickly pull out her lockpick and begin working the safe, taking her time so as to be as quiet as possible, not wanting to wake sleeping beauty up there. While she didn't like to boast, she was confident in her abilities to crack locks, she just felt like she was better when there was no chance for an audience. Eventually the safe was opened, and it came open with a soft creak. She winced briefly, pausing everything as she tilted her head up, listening for any sign that the man had woken up, but all she heard was sawing logs. Fine by her. Pulling out a bag, she began filling up on all that laid within--nothing went untouched in there, even things which looked worthless could at least be sold to someone somewhere for a septim or two. She wasn't even registering what she was putting in, just making sure it wouldn't jingle or make noise--she could worry about her haul once she was gone.

It didn't take long for Teek to finish clearing the rest of the main showroom, but he wasn't quite done yet. It wasn't uncommon for jewelers to keep some of their more expensive items hidden away in back store rooms or private offices, usually locked away, why not take a little extra time to sweep the backrooms, the really tedious part of the job was behind him after all. Ever so stealthily, Teek would make his way towards the nearby hallway leading to the back rooms of the building. The first was indeed a store room, but one filled with junk rather than anything valuable, old furniture and cases mostly, with a few other odds and ends stuck here and there. The next door led to the basement, a no go obviously, that left the staircase at the end of the hall and a final door across from it. Oddly enough, the door to the last room hadn't been closed, Teek barely gave it a passing thought though, the man had merely forgotten to shut it before retiring for the night. And so he would continue to silently move along, quickly rounding the corner and slipping into the room.
Too quickly in fact, so quickly that by the time it registered in his mind that he was not alone in the downstairs portion of the building, he'd already smashed right into the person, whom had apparently been leaving and crouched over lightly as he was. Their heads would collide with a sickening thud noise, Teek crashing backwards with a cry as pain shot through his head, stars filling his vision. He and the other person had made a terrible clatter, and moments later one could hear a commotion going on upstairs, the clear voice of a man shouting downstairs, followed by the creak of said man descending them. If that wasn't bad enough, one could hear the sound of a blade being taken from it's sheath. Teek didn't bother trying to figure out who he'd run into, or why they were there, in fact he didn't say anything at all to the person, rather he'd immediately scramble to his feet and make for the backdoor. The Argonian had no intentions of squaring off with the owner of the store, things could get messy and any patrolling guards outside could easily hear the commotion, as their patrol routine took them right past the front doors. Running was still an option however, even though the job might have been botched, there was still a good chance Teek could slip away, the items he'd boosted from the main room would still fetch quite a hefty sum, enough to be worth the effort anyways. He'd have to be quick though, he could already hear the muffled voice of the man's wife upstairs yelling for the guards off the balcony, and Teek wouldn't have long before a few of them came running.

Everything had been going so nicely, not a peep from upstairs, seemingly limitless amounts of wonderfully glittering jewelry swept away into her bag, and all done nice and swiftly. It was all that Cass could have asked for in the moment--soon she'd take off for Kvatch and find herself a nice room to begin counting it all up, then meet with a fence to discuss prices and go away with a lovely purse of gold for her trouble. In fact, she was so far in that she was beginning to think about what all she would do with the money she would be getting from this, considering going on a vacation to Elseweyr or something of the like. Still smiling contently, she finished her work and closed the safe, even hanging the painting back up and everything, just for the sake of making things not look too suspicious. And then, as she was leaving the room, SMACK! She felt something crack her across the skull and send her reeling.
Unlike the source of her collision, she didn't cry out--she wasn't nearly as hard headed as the argonian. Cass just dropped like a felled tree when struck, falling on her back and hitting her head again, as if the first blow wasn't enough. Her ears rang and spots filled her vision as she struggled to regain her balance after colliding with whoever or whatever that was. She could vaguely hear a storm of commotion outside, but right now it might as well have been her own ears playing tricks on her. Slowly she regained her senses and got to her feet, the clomping of guards coming finally piercing the constant screeching in her ears. Oh crap, she was still in the jeweler's place! She had to get out of here, NOW!
However, it was too late. Even as she stumbled towards the hall and aimed for the door, she would see a tailed figure go to open the door and get promptly smacked out of the way and fall to her feet, apparently in the state she'd been in during the initial collision. Through the door a pair of guards came tromping through, swords out, one of them pouncing rather quickly on the argonian while the other one jumped deftly over him going for her. "STOP RIGHT THERE!" the man shouted.
"Shit!" Cass snapped and tried to cast a fear spell on him, backpedaling quickly as she did so, hoping that maybe she could at least get out of here without jailtime. Unfortunately, between her ringing headache and backing square into the now VERY angry store owner, she was so distracted that it wound up fizzling out and she was left more tired and with a greater headache than when she started. Before she could do anything more she was grabbed by the collar and pushed towards the guard, who promptly shoved her against the wall and held his sword against her throat. Well, so much for escaping. "Alright! I surrender! I'll go quiet!" she said quickly, uninterested in gaining a second smile
The guard quickly grabbed her hand and spun her around so he could pull out some manacles. "You're under arrest for--"
"Oh shut up! I know what I'm under arrest for you minotaur fuAAAAH!" A quick twist of her arm shut her up pretty quickly, and she would say nothing else as the man finished giving her the usual spiel while the store owner went about repossessing his stolen property. Damn, she'd only been caught twice before--and only one other time was it her fault. Then again... As she was turned back around to be shoved towards the door, she saw a very dizzy argonian dressed much as she was, being ushered away in shackles by the other guard. And if the argonian looked her way, he would notice an absolute death glare being fired his way--that fool had just ruined her heist and gotten her arrested to boot! Even if he didn't look her way, as they were both marched down the streets towards the prison her eyes would remain glued to the back of the argonian's head. At least she had some hidden lockpicks to draw on.

Teek's escape would be roughly cut short before he could even clear the building. As the reptilian reached out for the handle of the door, eager to yank it open and disappear into the city, it would fling open and smash him right in the snout, as if an aching head wasn't bad enough. He was caught off guard enough, and hit hard enough, to be knocked backwards though, fortunately the only thing that had been knocked out were his senses for a moment. The daze gave the two guards more than enough time to pounce on him though. Unlike his fellow thief however, Teek wouldn't try to fight back or escape, better to be taken away in manacles then get a sword through the gullet. As Teek was hauled to his feet, he'd actually get to see the person he'd ran into, not to mention hear them. Obviously an Altmer woman, and a rather mouthy one from the sounds of it. The two guards that had busted through the front to nab her were all to happy to rough her up for her trouble though, even going so far as to shackle her wrists behind her, where as Teek's wrists would be shackled in front of him, the Argonian remaining silent as he and the elf were roughly escorted from the building, the owner yelling all the while. A patrol must have literally been mere yards away when all the commotion occurred, no way two of Anvil's finest could have made it to the back door to cut off his retreat that fast otherwise, a botched situation compounded by bad luck in the end. Probably a good thing honestly, the owner seemed more inclined to just gut them on the spot rather than try to catch them alive...
Teek actually had taken notice of the elf's glare his way before they got moving, as if the whole thing had been his fault, the reptilian shared no such anger towards her however, in all honesty he found it a little humorous, what were the chances two thieves would target the same business on the same night at around the same time? He'd had many unusual things happen to him on jobs before, but this scenario was a first.
-------------------------------------------------
It didn't take long for the group of guards to get their two new prisoners back to the castle dungeons. The pair's weapons had been confiscated on the spot, now in the bowels of the small prison, the guards would take the liberty of stripping the two of everything else on their person, including their clothing. If the search had gotten any more invasive, it would have progressed to the 'cavity' variety, fortunately it hadn't gotten that far, but the pair would endure the embarrassment of being stripped to their skivvies before being given some rather well worn sack-cloth clothing. Once the pair was redressed, their gear and the stolen goods locked away as 'evidence', they'd of course be interrogated. Nothing extravagant, the usual series of questions you'd receive when you got pinched, with a bit of roughing up if you didn't cooperate. It wasn't Teek's first time answering these questions, though it had been awhile since he'd been in this situation. Of course the reptilian would give them false information as far as his name and place of residence went, though he provided believable substitutes and would cooperate without complaint for the duration of the entire process, something the Altmer woman maybe wasn't so likely to do. Once their captors had collected all the information they desired, the pair would be herded together to hallway containing the actual cells. As they walked down the corridor, they'd be able to clearly see a few of the other dungeon's denizens. Some were like them, rather fresh looking by all accounts, others looked like they hadn't been out in years. Teek knew that once the total value of all the stolen goods they'd snatched was tallied up, they'd be getting a hefty sentence, but the Argonian had no intentions of serving any time.
The guards escorting them would eventually come to a stop outside of an empty cell, at which point Teek and the elf would promptly be shoved inside, the iron gate being closed behind them and locked before the guards went on their way, not even bothering to remove the pair's shackles, though a bit earlier they'd at least re-restrained the elf's wrists in front of her. The cell itself was as dingy as one could expect in a dungeon, musty and small, nothing in it but a pile of straw and an old blanket in one corner, and a bucket in the other. Teek would let out a light sigh as he regarded the manacles on his wrists with a frown, the iron chains linking one cuff to the other rattling lightly in the process. After a few moments though, the reptilian's gaze would shift over to his cell mate, and oddly enough a smile would creep across his snout. "So...meet new people this way very often?" Clearly a poor attempt at a joke, Teek wouldn't have been surprised to find the woman still angry at him, hopefully she was calm enough to not try and strangle him with her restraints though.

The path to the dungeon was about as dull and frustrating as anything in the world, and it certainly didn't help that she getting roughed up a bit more than that infuriating scaly screw-up. Of course, the irony of the situation wasn't lost on her, she knew that the chances of two thieves bumping into each other attempting to rob the same store is incredibly slim--unless you were at some sort of special event like a ball or something of the like. However, anyone competent would have checked all the rooms before darting around like a flipping idiot! Wait... anyone competent would have checked all the rooms... Well, guess she was as much to blame as him... well partially... a little bit... twenty percent.
The searching was about as could be expected--actually, she'd been given a full cavity search before, so she was grateful that they didn't go that far about it. It was infuriating that it was men doing that though, couldn't they have at least gotten a female guard to do that?! She just KNEW that at least one of these guys would be getting off to this later on. While it was also annoying that they took her gear, none of it was particularly irreplaceable... well the Thalmor robe would be a bitch to get back if she didn't snatch everything from evidence, but she could put up with that. The interrogation though... that went about as well as could be expected. After getting a black eye for saying her name was "The Count's Left Bollock," she was pretty quick to cooperate, giving them legitimate sounding but false personal information with the typical demeanor of a proper altmer even with the black eye and shackles. Thankfully, once they were done they turned her restraints back around and escorted her out into the prison... where she discovered she was going to be locked away with the very argonian that had ruined her wonderful evening to begin with. Perfect. Worse still, she just knew that it was going to be a long sentence they got; at least they hadn't actually harmed anyone so it couldn't be too bad. Regardless, she had every intent of getting out of here one way or another--and she had more than a few tricks up her sleeve in that regard.
Once they were tossed inside, she would snip back at the guard who pushed her, "Don't let the door bite you on the way out, sweetie!" followed up with a whispered, "Fuckin' prick." Letting out a frustrated sigh, she turned around and took stock of the cell. It was... roomier than she expected... though this was the woman who'd seen what sort of places Thalmor interrogations took place in. Still wasn't very big though. Bucket was a nice touch. God, she felt like she was an inspector or something. Her eyes went to the manacles, and briefly she debated unlocking them with a quick spell, but decided that she'd wait until it was time to sleep for that, in case someone was looking. Pretty standard nonsense.
Then, as she was examining the door, she caught the argonian speaking to her. A plethora of responses came into her mind, several of them grouchy or snippy, but she realized that if she was going to be stuck with this guy, she might as well try and play nice with him. Still, that joke was bad. Letting out a frustrated sigh she turned around and leaned on the gate, looking the lizard square in the eye for a moment before looking down with frustration. "I'd wager we're both better than that; that or we're in the wrong line of work." Her voice was actually pretty unusual for one of her kind, holding watered down versions of both the typical snooty Summerset altmer accent and the nordic accent, and slightly lighter than either would indicate. Eventually she shrugged it off and slumped against the wall, looking up at the lizard with a smile. "I take it this isn't your first time either?" she asked bluntly. No sense sulking against each other--she could get payback on him later if she really wanted it, but it was foolish to think such things right now.

Teek had found the woman's antics thoroughly entertaining, but his smile would quickly falter when he got a good look at her face in the dim light from a nearby torch outside the cell. Quite the shiner she'd received for her attitude, and the Argonian was willing to bet she'd have a few other bruises on her person in a few days. While he genuinely felt sorry for her, and believed such force against a restrained woman, even a mouthy one, was entirely uncalled for, she had done it to herself in many respects. Teek had complied promptly to every command he'd been given, never offering any protest, verbal or otherwise. For his trouble, he hadn't been mistreated too badly, besides the usual down talking he received for being a 'dirty thief' of course, then again she was a High Elf in Imperial territory... Her mistreatment could also have stemmed from her racial origins, if to a lesser extent than her lip, couldn't be helped now however.
Teek also couldn't help but notice this Altmer had a few features that weren't often seen among her kind, her red hair and paler skin being the most prominent, she also didn't strike him as being quite as lithe as most Altmer women were, though she was far from being bulky by any stretch of the word, very easy on the eyes despite her differences from the average Altmer. Even her voice had it's own unique accent to it, clearly discernible as she replied to his little comment. "I'll admit, I didn't anticipate one of the risks I'd have to be on the lookout for tonight would be running into a 'coworker'. This was a first for me." The reptilians smile would return, and he'd shrug mildly to her observations. "I've called the moldy straw of a jail cell 'bed' many a night in my life, but the last time I was locked up was many years ago. Before today I liked to think I was a bit too skilled to be caught anymore, fate wished to issue me a reminder it would seem. I suppose it's good to be brought back down to Nirn once in awhile though, getting an ego in this line of work is never a good thing." Teek would sigh lightly and rub behind one of his horns, his gaze shifting out beyond their cell for a few moments before shifting it back to his cellmate, his smile returning. "Anyways, my name is Teek, and while I wish it were under better circumstances, it is no less a pleasure to make your acquaintance Mrs...?" The Argonian would bow politely as he introduced himself, just because he was clad in glorified rags and in a grimy cell didn't mean he had to give up common courtesy and good mannerisms.
Once properly introduced (provided she would do the same, whether with a fake name or a variation of her real one as he had), Teek would promptly have a seat on the floor, his back to the wall of the cell. "So, if you don't mind me being nosy, are you with the Guild or freelance?"

Truthfully, Cass wasn't naturally uncooperative, she just had a bit of a temper right now born of the shame from getting caught--she was so good at her work normally! That said though, she hadn't even factored in her race for her treatment, mostly just because she was used to being targeted regardless of it and in the frozen north the Nords were hostile whereas the Imperials tended to be the courteous ones. Granted, she didn't think that they liked her down here, but she wasn't afraid for her safety over that nonsense right now... or at least no more so than just her being a criminal.
As they relaxed, her eyes briefly examined her cellmate as he spoke, stretching out as much as she could given their cramped confines. Really, she didn't have a keen eye for argonians (she didn't interact with them much), but from what she recalled he was a rather light-colored example, not abnormally so but she couldn't remember the last time she saw one with such light scales. Pretty feathers though, and while she never found the lizards attractive she had to admit that their eyes were always impressive. His were particularly nice, a rich deep green not unlike hers, though with that unique reptilian twist. He seemed pretty damn fit too--then again you had to be in this line of work.
It was still baffling that they'd somehow wound up in this situation together, and while the scaly seemed to be mildly amused by it, she was still irritated. Not necessarily at him, but just generally annoyed at the fact that bad luck had bitten them in the backside. His explanation that he'd been in jail many a time got a scoff out of her and she rolled her eyes calmly, leaning her head back against the stone and closing her eyes, smirking a little about it being humbling. "I can think of more than a few people that could stand to learn such a lesson," she commented with a scoff, her smile fading as she thought about those imbeciles that she'd once called comrades, prior to that suicidal order of course, "I'm not so used to it, I'll admit, but I've been on the wrong side of the bars a couple times. Though, as such things go, this isn't too bad. The last one I was hanging from the wall for the first couple nights... that was unpleasant." Briefly she opened her eyes and noticed him looking around, and the thought that he might be planning to leave immediately crossed her mind.
However, that wasn't what he wanted... no he was just making sure that nobody could hear them share names. Her initial thought was that she shouldn't give this Teek fellow her proper name, since chances were good that they'd never cooperate again and he would be free to spread it around. Then again, it wasn't like just giving her a more personable one would be problematic; it wasn't like he'd be able to track down her real name unless he got REALLY nosy... but at that point she'd probably have to take care of him. Eh, whatever. "Call me Cass," she told him calmly, bowing her head politely and returning the argonian's manners. Actually, he was remarkably well-spoken for a thief--a bit out of place but definitely appreciated in her mind. His query as to her allegiance got a chuckle out of her, but she quickly looked up at the ceiling with a light smile. "Do I work for the Guild? That's a knotty question, I'd say," she said partially to herself, though he was free to listen in. Eventually she shrugged and gave him a smirk. "You'll find me on a couple rosters, but really I just like access to their fences and let them take a cut. I don't really 'work for the Guild,' strictly speaking. So... I suppose I'd say freelance." Wow, that was a roundabout way of saying things. She looked up a little, double-checking how she would consider that, but eventually she shrugged again and looked back at him, "What of yourself? You a lone wolf or with the pack?"
Regardless of his answer, she realized something rather problematic and a few seconds after his response would widen her eyes with horror and look out side. "Burn me!" she hissed with frustration, looking outside before looking back to her cellmate, her tone slightly urgent, "How long do you think it'll take them to start looking through our gear?"

Teek would smirk at the elf's shared desire to keep their identities fairly vague. "A pleasure, Cass." Her comment on some acquaintances of hers needing a lesson like this would get a chuckle from the reptilian, though like any gentleman, he wouldn't pry as to whom in particular she may have been talking about. It wasn't entirely impossible that they weren't acquainted with the same people, especially if she did a lot of business with the Guild. As far as jail treatments went, the Argonian had to agree with his cellmate, this wasn't all that bad, they had bedding and a bucket which is more than some Imperial jails and prisons had, not to mention they hadn't broken anything on either of them, her black eye was pretty mild considering what all the guards could get away with within these walls. "Never been trussed up like that, worst I ever endured was a metal collar and a bit of chain connected to the wall. It was a bit to tight and by the time they took it off a week later it had left a nasty rubbing, took another week for that to fully heal." Teek found Cass's rather complicated reply to a what he would have believed was a simple yes or no question to be quite humorous, but would avoid doing little more than smirking, if only not to agitate her anymore than she already was given the situation. "I see." Was all the reptilian would say in response before the question was turned around and directed at him, which he would nod lightly to. "They arrange most of my work yes, though from time to time I do an independent job, tonight was one such attempt." Unfortunately for Teek, this meant that the Guild didn't know where he was, and since he didn't have enough gold to even attempt to grease the palms that needed greasing, he'd be stuck here for at least after he could get a letter sent out, if he could get one sent out any time soon. This may have not been a problem if there wasn't going to be a full moon in 3 days...
Cass's follow up question regarding the guards rooting through their gear would get a mild shrug from the Argonian. "I'd be surprised if they didn't put it off for a few hours, if not waiting for the day shift to take over and do it themselves. I'll stick around till the shift change at least, it should be quite easy to slip away then. I thought they were going to get a little to 'friendly' and find my holdout..." With a smirk, the Argonian would shift his jaw around a bit, clearly doing something with his tongue before the end of a lockpick would poke out from between his lips, Teek would then promptly slurp it back in and stash it away once more. It certainly wasn't the most comfortable place to hold a pointy piece of metal, but it was an effective hiding spot at least, it wasn't as if the guards would be too keen on sticking their hands in a mouth full of sharp teeth to check it in detail. "Carrying something they might wish to have a word with you over?" Teek would inquire rhetorically.

Cass almost immediately winced at the mention of the metal collar--no matter who you were or what you did, there was no way that that could be pleasant. Unless you were one of those weird masochists she supposed. Still, he seemed to have gotten out of it alright, just as she'd gotten out of her own experience without any long-term incidences. His description of his own standing with the guild wasn't anything unusual--everyone did their side work after all, even when they worked for them. Some just checked in with the guild to see who was under their protection. After all, if you stole from someone protected, you could get a LOT of very dangerous folks after you. She heard of one poor bastard who got the Dark Brotherhood sicked on him.
However, that was all nothing compared to what would happen to her if these guards saw what she had on her and jumped to conclusions. Then again, she actually had been Thalmor at one point, so perhaps it would be somewhat justified. Regardless though, she wanted to keep breathing with all of her limbs unbroken and her teeth still in place. Thankfully, as she was starting to get a little flustered, the argonian stated his time estimates, which got her to take a deep breath, and then revealed his ace in the hole. Ah, that was a beautiful sight. What she'd give to be able to do that. It actually had her legitimately smiling, so much so that she'd comment, sounding clearly relieved, "Suddenly I wish I was a 'gonian." After that, his question would come up and she'd promptly scoff, leaning forward into her hands and groaning to herself. "More like they'll take me out and beat me to an inch of my life," she responded quietly, chewing on her lip after the fact. Yeah, this was going to get ugly if she didn't get out soon.
Of course, after she said that, she realized that her words combined with her race could lead Teek to some pretty bad assumptions. Looking at him, she sighed and told him hurriedly, "It's not what you're probably thinking. Well... it probably is actually, but it's something I lifted. Not mine." A bold-faced lie, perhaps, but one she'd gotten used to. Sighing and grimacing she looked out the window and tried to focus. Great, so she might get killed because of some incident over something that she'd bailed out of years ago. Wonderful. Absolutely brilliant! Yeah, she was leaving tonight. Looking at her shackles, she experimentally tried moving her hands around and discovered to her delight that she could manage the spell she'd needed, unlocking her left manacle with ease. "Well, at least there's some good news," she whispered to herself.

To her comment about wishing to be an Argonian, Teek would merely smile and shrug noncommittally "Well, we can't all be perfect unfortunately." Teasing of course, he may have had an ego at times, but it wasn't really that inflated. As Cass went on to mention she'd likely get a beating for whatever it was that was in her possession, it got Teek all the more curious about what exactly it was. Of course he wouldn't ask, as with so many things, it wasn't any of his business and would have likely come off as a bit rude. If he had to guess, he'd have bet it was something relating to the Thalmor, that would have been an easy way to earn the ire of an Imperial, or rather a jail full of them. That being said, Teek wouldn't have believed her if she'd told him she was a Thalmor agent, since when would those high and mighty elves 'stoop' to common thievery after all? Come to find out it was something she'd stolen, and Teek was more likely to believe that, if the item or items in question were indeed related to the Thalmor, Cass had boosted them. Teek personally tried to avoid any jobs that involved the Thalmor, whether they were on the receiving end of his skill set or his benefactors. Truthfully, it made him more paranoid when they were backing him, as he always feared a proverbial (and literal for that matter) dagger in the back, or lightning bolt up his arse when he'd completed the job. Realistically, being in the thieves guild afforded a solid deal of protection, but a good thief was always wary and on guard.
The Argonian found himself smirking as the elf weaved her little spell and unlocked one of her manacles, a handy bit of magic that must have been, if he'd been more interested in magic he may have tried to pick up more than what few spells he knew, but as it stood his other non-magical talents filled the gap just fine. "Manacles are a good start, but do you know enough to unlock cell doors or evidence chests?" Teek wouldn't have been surprised if she could unlock their cell door, but he'd have been most impressed if her lock-busting magic was strong enough to crack more complex locks, such as those most often found on evidence chests, even he often took several minutes to crack those open.

While she might have been more than a little panicked, Cass was still able to crack a bit of a smirk at the little racial prod he gave. Yeah, she might have thought of altmer as perhaps a little above the others in nature, but she also knew that those genetics led to logical idiocy and, as the old saying went, pride comes before the fall. The altmer might be the natural powerhouse, but they were about as sharp as a bag of apples if they truly though that they were invulnerable to the other races. In other news, she was grateful that Teek was keeping the questions light as to what it was that she had on her--it was natural for thieves to keep things secret she supposed. To top that off, her being an agent would definitely be about as believable as her saying she was in fact Azura in disguise, at least considering how they met. What interest would a jeweler be to the Thalmor anyways? Okay, so she was safe for now, but again that would last only as long as the guards didn't start looking through their stuff.
She smirked back at him a little at his query; she might have been good with magic, but she wasn't quite as good as she would've liked. "I might be able to handle the door," she admitted as she rubbed her wrist, making sure to keep the manacle close enough that she could make it look like it was still attached if someone walked by, "But the chest one of us will have to handle it the old fashion way. At least if past experience is something to go by." One of these days she intended to get that good--imagine all the heists she could manage if she was able to unlock anything just by casting a quick spell on it. However, for now, she had to rely on her other spells. Still, at least there were a few things she could do. "Still, it's not the only trick I have." She paused and looked out the door as she heard footsteps as one of the guards came wandering by, clearly a bit tired from the way he was dragging his feet but otherwise not really doing anything out of the ordinary. Once he passed by, she paused and added to Teek with a slight grin, "Think you could keep up?"
