Name: The Sons of Cain
Type of Faction: Private Army
Faction Leader: The Enoch, goes by the name of Jerrod, well into his seventies, a former guard from New Jerusalem. Missing two fingers and almost senile, he’s expected to die soon, so the veterans lead mostly in his place.
Active Characters: N/A (as of now)
Other Notable Figures: General Proctor – NCR general, the one who hired the Sons of Cain.
Goals: To rid the land of tribals, raiders and other such scum.
Beliefs: Whilst a lot of their beliefs revolve around that of Mormonism, and their belief in God, they believe that God has abandoned humanity and as such his rules should not be followed. They believe that law is theirs to hand out, regardless of the consequences. They believe that tribals, raiders and mutants are the source of all the wasteland’s problems and as a result should be eradicated where possible.
Allegiances: New Canaan formerly, themselves currently, and the NCR temporarily due to them being contracted.
Enemies: Caesar’s Legion, The Scorchers, any raider/tribal group, organised or not.
Headquarters: Klamath Outskirts Merc Camp
Locations: Utah, north Nevada and Oregon
Armaments: The Sons of Cain rely on ballistic weaponry, and do not as a whole use any energy weapons, neither do they use ‘big guns’. Depending on how new or how old they are to the organisation depends on the quality of their guns. Older more experienced members will use .45 auto pistols, a remnant of their days in New Jerusalem. Newer members will just use the usual 10mm or 9mm, that are common throughout the wasteland. Assault rifles and .45 smgs are quite a common sight on their patrols, and they will come with explosives, either dynamite, flashbangs, and the less common frag grenades.
Armor and Uniform:
Most of the sons will wear an outfit similar to this, with wide brim hats, a black duster with leather armour underneath. Some will have additions to this, such as sun glasses, or ammo belts and what not, but it’s pretty much uniform across the board.
Vehicles: None
Technology: They own quite a few HAM radios, as well as personal radios to contact each other in the field.
Other: They have a few camps scattered around southern Oregon, ten-twenty miles out from each other. They’re more concentrated around the hills around Klamath, usually numbering around five guys a camp.
Numbers: 230 fully trained Sons. 20 or so hired staff (secretaries, cooks, ect), 40 odd Veterans (which includes all of the leading figures), and about 50 trainees.
Oregon currently has 150 of the Sons stationed in Klamath and the surrounding areas. Their numbers comprise of 10 vets, 15 trainees, 6 staff and 70 regular Sons.
Forged in fire and bitterness, the sons of Cain have been around for the past fifty years. Whilst their numbers have been small, their numbers have grown rapidly in recent years, due to the rise of tribal groups such as the Khans, the Legion and other such groups. They are overly aggressive in their attacks on tribals and raiders of all kinds and never take prisoners. In their eyes God has abandoned Earth, turning his back on his children, and thus the Sons of Cain have taken the law into their own hands on multiple occasions.
It all started in New Jerusalem, back in 2233. Whilst the details are scarce from objective sources, the Sons of Cain will tell you that the town was attacked by greedy savages, who demanded supplies from them on a regular basis. When they ultimately refused the savages demands, they attacked in full force, uniting with tribals to outman the Mormon defenders. Heroically, as they would say, they defended the town in a battle that raged on for days. Hundreds died in the defence, the rest were injured. No one got away without a scar on that day. Those that survived abandoned the dead in the streets and were led by a new prophet north, towards a town that would become New Canaan.
Over the years, a voice rose in the town, arguing that they should march south and defeat the savages who took their home away from them, but their leaders disagreed. They claimed they had found their new home and were satisfied in their belief. Around this time a new prophet proclaimed himself, and another man, a missionary went east and produced an organised tribal group known as Caesar’s Legion. With their leaders shamed, several of the families broke off and departed New Canaan, heading north to prepare themselves for the time they would move south against the savages and retake their home. One part of this group was the aggressive “Sons of Cain”, who had taken on the belief that humanity had been abandoned by God. Whilst their faith that he exists was never broken, they began to believe that the law was theirs to uphold. Their anger and bitterness turned to hate and soon enough they would kill tribals on sight without a second thought.
Through the years following, they became nothing more than just another private military group, dressed up in dusters and “pretending” to be lawmen. Some spread out and took jobs to kill tribals and raiders, essentially becoming bounty hunters in Northern Utah, whilst others just went on their own campaigns. Smaller towns hired groups of them to defend them from tribal groups, whilst usually resulted in barbaric slaughters, leading many to ultimately regret hiring the group.
The strength of the group rose, and tales of their acts began seeping across the state boarders to the neighbouring settlements, but around this time news that New Canaan had been burnt by the White Legs reached them. With a sad snort, many of the Sons of Cain couldn’t help but think maybe if they’d stayed, they could’ve changed things. They swore however, they’d one day get the strength to march south and drown the ground in savage blood.
Now, however, the Sons have turned their attention to Oregon, after being hired by General Proctor of the NCR. Drawn by the promise of a constant wage, and the potential of new recruits (when they learned of the situation in Oregon with the tribal and raider groups), they eagerly accepted, sending one hundred and fifty men to the city on the edge of NCR territory. Now they battle anyone who the NCR orders them to without question and fierce determination.
