Personal Information
Factional Affiliation: Republic
Rank: Lieutenant

Personality: At first glance, Erin comes across as peculiarly calm for someone who used to be an Imperial pilot, much less one with the sort of background she has. She meditates before taking off, she takes her time when walking through scenic locations, enjoys working on small personal projects when she has spare time, and she seems very devoted to her "family." When work needs doing, she's very no-nonsense and blunt, not harsh or aggressive unless called for, but simply stating what needs doing or simply doing it herself. She obeys her superiors easily and generally is a model soldier in most regards, though when her superiors are away she tends to let out a mischievous streak and will do everything in her power to lighten the mood, even if she's not exactly Little Miss Sunshine most of the time herself. She's terrifyingly protective of anyone underneath her and, regardless of if she likes them or not, feels that she's obligated to make sure that they make it home; and she's also pretty sympathetic of those who need help, though she's pretty new to being able to do anything to help in that regard. That all said, she's bad about holding grudges and is struggling to keep the ones she used to have against the republic buried, though she'll occasionally have a hot-button get pushed and get ferociously angry. Also, she's mildly xenophobic, but when I say that, it's not that she's hostile towards them anymore, but rather she's trying to bury that old Imperial mindset and it's a gradual process; she knows it's wrong and does everything she can to not act on it or outright defy it, but occasionally something slips out.

History
From an early age, Erin was pretty well destined to be a major supporter of the Empire. Her father was a major in the Imperial Navy and her mother the daughter of his commanding officer, both of whom were loyal to their nation and emperor. She was taught all the appropriate doctrines, to hate Force users and about the xenophobia characteristic of the Empire, and while she never quite took the latter fully to heart, she never had an issue with it either. She was born and raised on Corellia and went to school alongside people who would later join both sides of the civil war. Early on she found a certain romance in space battles as well as such things as pod racing, and often went with her mother to visit family friends who worked on starships. Her father was part of her life as much as he could, and despite being an Imperial officer he did everything he could to at least take care of his family, regularly sending messages to them and the occasional gift from the places he stopped off. That said, Erin rarely saw him in person, the last time being when he came home as a surprise for her sixth birthday, about three months before the Battle of Endor. Still, her early life was fairly happy, and she enjoyed her time with her mother and her life in Corellia, perhaps a little ignorant of its status as a political hotbed.
But then came the Battle of Endor. Her father had been stationed on the Executor during its final combat action, and when the enormous dreadnaught nose-dived into the Death Star's surface he died alongside Erin's grandfather and roughly three hundred thousand others. When the news arrived, both Erin and her mother were distraught, and when she went out onto their apartment's balcony Erin saw a flight of TIE interceptors patrolling above she knew what she would have to do. The rest of her time in school was spent studying manically and applying herself with every bone in her body to ensure her grades were top notch and she would be able to find a place in one of the Imperial academies. She was quickly made aware of the sexism in the Navy, but she simply applied herself to break through it rather than concern herself with the limitations. She rocketed through school, skipping a year in the process, and by the time she was seventeen she was already preparing to enter the Imperial academy, even having worked out a way to transfer in from another year to cut corners. Of course, through all this time she was never actually told what her father had died protecting or what the Death Star was meant to do. She was barely more than a toddler when Alderaan was destroyed and was utterly consumed with bitter rage and sorrow over her father's demise. She just knew that the Rebellion had killed her family and that she was going to get some payback. Of course, it took time for her to age enough to actually enter, and by the time she was able to get in, she and her mother had been forced to move homes twice and the rebels were put on their back foot a little bit.
Corulag Academy was rough, even for being the lesser of its counterparts; she had to work twice as hard to get half the recognition of her male counterparts, not to mention she had to pretty much sleep with her back to the wall, but she managed to get through. She scored high marks in flight school and managed to get herself a place in the cockpit of an interceptor with the 115th Fighter Group. It took her a little while to be placed in combat, as her squadron was mostly made up of lesser pilots, so for the first month or so she mostly went on patrol missions, occasionally seeing a Republic ship but almost invariably being forced to back off due to its size or being unable to close before it made a run for it. She didn't care much for her fellow pilots either, as while she too shared a deep hatred for the Republic, they seemed almost... psychotic about it. Granted, she was much the same way when she first joined, but when she saw just how rabid her comrades were about their enemy, it made her start looking in the mirror on a regular basis.
Salvation came in the final days of 17 ABY when her squadron stumbled onto a flight of B-Wings making their way home from some mission. In the fight, her flight leader kept leading her on tactically unsound maneuvers and damn near got her killed, but eventually he was the one who paid the piper and she was left to fend for herself. To her delight, she discovered that she was able to better fight in this situation, and once freed she promptly bagged herself one of the heavy fighters and assisted in destroying two more. Soon after that she was placed with a better wingman, Carron Vol, and the two would begin assisting each other in a more give-and-take capacity rather than being outright subservient. While she considered Carron superior, she was allowed to take the lead out of the pair on occasion. They became so adept at their gemini tactics that they were guaranteed at least one kill between them every time they went into combat... of course within the first six months that still left them with only eight and five kills, each. However, a superior noticed how badly they outclassed their comrades, and soon they were both transferred to the 204th Imperial Fighter Group to fly Avengers.
Unlike the psychos of 115, the 204th was largely new pilots, rising stars of the Imperial Navy under the command of old hands who'd managed to survive the old regime's blunders. The squadron's commanding officer, Lath Shan, was a survivor of the Battle of Endor (though he'd been a rookie at the time), a quiet and looming man who only spoke when necessary, and probably the wisest pilot in the Imperial Navy for all she knew. The squadron was rather colorful actually, and they experienced a far more relaxed atmosphere when not behind the stick, often playing pranks on each other and otherwise rough-housing whenever "Papa Shan" wasn't looking; though even when he caught them he usually just told them not to break anything. During this time Erin developed a relationship with Carron, nothing that one would call an actual romance but they were close enough that they were almost declared a couple by the squadron. Of course, with all this said, the 204th was still a member of the Imperial Navy with all of the pomp and circumstance appropriate, and when on duty they did what they could to be on their best behavior; they were occasionally caught off-guard when goofing off, but those times were few and far between. It was dangerous work though, within the first two weeks Erin saw more combat than all of her time with the 115th, and despite Papa Shan's best efforts inevitably they began losing people. The Avenger was a wonderful fighter, and it kept them pretty safe, but even then there was only so much that one could do to minimize losses. Still, Erin became one of the standouts of the squadron, scoring 35 more fighter kills by the beginning of 20 ABY and participating in several bombing and attack runs. However, as this went on, she saw plenty of friends come and go, even Carron eventually getting killed by a Rogue Squadron pilot (whom she promptly blew to kingdom come). It made her deeply introspective and encouraged her to avoid getting attached to her fellow pilots, something which ironically helped her better learn from old Shan. Eventually she managed to worm her way up to the position as the squadron's functional XO; their personnel officer functionally held that title, but she was given far more respect from the boys than him. Her score rate fluctuated after that, as most of the time she spent her time keeping her boys alive rather than actually focusing on kills, but that said she had a fairly steady climb throughout that time period and she developed a simple ambush technique that helped both her and the rest of the 204th start getting a wild number of kills outside of major battles. Of course, all of her attention was read as motherly by her squadron, and she began earning assorted nicknames from the boys, her favorite being "Auntie B," or "Aunt E.B." She took pride in her work, and during the time in which she controlled the 204th's second flight, she only lost one pilot under her command, meanwhile second flight as a whole took out sixty craft.
When Moff Vark took power, things started to get shaken up pretty bad, several of the people on their ship getting arrested for speaking up against their new Warlord, and those who didn't often seeming rather irritated. Erin never cared much for the habit of singular rule, as Papa Shan had told her how badly Emperor Palpatine had screwed over the fighter corps, but she was smart enough to keep her trap shut. For the first two years, the 204th kept doing as it had always done, going out on missions sent in from above and doing what little they could to try and help keep the Empire from falling to the upstart rebels. But then a cascade failure began to break out. First, in the same week, both Colonel Shan and Erin's own mother were arrested for treason, though the way it was done made the squadron think that it was done to keep them quiet (Colonel Shan was 100% innocent, but Mrs. Barthet had accidentally been dating a Republic spy). The next week, someone let slip to Erin what the Death Star was and what had become of Alderaan, as well as what her father had been defending over Endor. Then, word leaked to them of the disaster at Yavin. THEN, to make matters worse, Erin began experiencing visions in her sleep and would occasionally notice small objects "mysteriously" falling over whenever she was angry, something which she quickly realized was a sign of Force sensitivity. Perhaps at this point things could have been salvaged, but nothing was done to placate the 204th or any effort made to tighten surveillance around them. Not long later, Erin found an old classmate of hers whom she knew to have joined the rebellion; however, when she captured him, she insisted on being allowed to have a heart-to-heart conversation with him. While she showed no hint of being swayed by his words outwardly, internally it was a very different story. She heard of all the horrors that the Empire had placed on them, of the Sith (whom she didn't even know were still around), and of the way the war was going. And then she was made to watch as he was tortured to the brink of death. The strained loyalty she'd been working with for so long snapped that day, and she began entering into deep dilemmas as to her next course of action. She couldn't bring herself to abandon her boys, but she also couldn't keep fighting for the Empire, not with this knowledge under her belt. The answer fell into her lap when the squadron was sent out on a mission to act as a distraction for a group of bombers... a mission which proved utterly disastrous, killing a fair portion of the squadron, including a few of the old hands. The fact that so many of them survived was actually a miracle and they were nominated for awards afterwards... but it was too late. The 204th now knew that the Empire had thrown them under the bus, and now when she went to all the people loyal to her with a plan to desert, they were more than willing to listen. After stealing a shuttle and a few Avengers with Erin managing to spring her Republic friend (as well as a few of his comrades) from the brig, the bulk of the 204th's veterans disappeared into space before their Star Destroyer could do more than fire some lasers vaguely their direction. Now, the plan had been to make for a neutral planet, perhaps something under Hutt control or on the Outer Rim, that way the 204th could find some place to hide out or found a mercenary company or otherwise debate their course of action. Unfortunately, their shuttle was having hyperdrive problems and they refused to leave Erin behind, so instead they made straight for a nearby Republic stronghold, where they were captured.
Truth be told, Erin had fully expected to sit out the rest of the war at that point. The 204th was given pretty decent treatment, even being allowed to live in the same prison and given extra protection, since they'd willingly stood down and showed no interest in resisting. Attempts were made to get them to defect, but while they held no loyalty to the Empire at this point, they also didn't want to fight against their brothers in arms. The deal was that once the Imperial Remnant was considered too weak to be a threat, they would be released from their prison and given jobs, likely bureaucratic in nature. However, that changed when a Jedi entered the prison. This fellow, a mirialan knight from Nar Shadaa named Avris Ukylin, had begun visiting prisons in search of Force sensitive individuals, likely under the thought of assisting others from his sort of criminal background to find the peace that he'd experienced. Ironically, it took him a while to discover Erin's status as sensitive to the Force, but when he did he offered her a chance to see about joining the Jedi, perhaps to help improve conditions for her comrades and see them freed prematurely. She agreed very reluctantly, the debate raging for the better part of a day and involving all of the 204th deserters, and eventually she was sent off to Tython. There she was introduced to the ways of the Jedi and given the beginnings of their teachings, as well as being forced to spend more time than she would've normally been comfortable around aliens. Ironically, she was more uncomfortable about the Force. Regardless of her preconceptions, she did all in her power to comprehend the Force (initially thinking of it as a tool) and apply herself to the teachings, a process which she eventually found calming and helped her come to peace with her past, including the death of her father. It was probably the happiest she'd been since before Endor, and while she admitted to having difficulties calming her old Imperial mind, she became very sincere in her efforts to accept the ways of the light side. However, it was discovered that while she was Force sensitive, she was woefully weak in such regards and after two months of attempted training was barely able to do more than move small rocks and pieces of fruit (we're talking strawberry size) around, and even then it strained her immensely to do so for more than a couple seconds. After talking with her master, they agreed to abort her training, but instead of considering it an outright failure, she found herself properly encouraged to undergo the process of defecting and joining the newly minted Republic Special Forces. The choice definitely surprised her boys, but when she explained what she experienced they at least accepted it, and agreed that it was probably for the best.
Since then Erin has passed her special forces training with flying colors and begun going on basic missions for the Republic. Whenever she's sent out solo, she's kept clear of the Empire due to her sympathy towards certain members, though she has been brought in on group efforts before and performed appropriately. She's been given an X-Wing as her personal transport, though she's been tinkering with it a little to make it a little more to her liking; many have joked that she would rather have a TIE Avenger again, not realizing that that's actually the case. The 204th has also been released into society, all of them have different jobs but they ive in the same complex on Coruscant; when Erin has time off she joins them and is considered a resident.
