Service Record
The Alderaanian Wraith initially saw service under the command of Nava Orion with the name Alderaanian Jesterduring the year 3 BBY, running Imperial blockades to deliver medical supplies to non-human worlds that the Empire had blocked off and left to starve. The Corvette at this time was a typical Corellian Corvette, with only minor modifications to the speed. In the year 0 ABY, sometime before the destruction of Alderaan, the Rebel Alliance and the Captain of the ship, Nava Orion, came into contact on the planet of Dantooine. There Orion and his crew were formally sworn in as members of the Rebel Alliance. It was celebrated by the mixed crew.
It was only sometime later that the news of the destruction of Alderaan reached them. The Alderaanian Jester was renamed the Alderaanian Wraith, and went on the war path.
Under the steady hand of its Captain, the ship fought during the Evacuation of Yavin to cover the valuable transports that carried the arms, equipment, and the men to use them away from the doomed moon. The ships gunners scored several kills on the TIE Bombers that swarmed them, before receiving the order to jump to hyper space.
Captain Orion then took his ship to face down the Dathomir Quarantine, and the Blackwing Virus. They dropped valuable medical and food supplies from above the surface to the various survivor communities that had arrived, risking time and time again Imperial blaster fire. Most of the supplies were confiscated by Imperial patrols, but some of it got into the hands of the refugees. For those it reached, the supplies were a gift from the heavens. Captain Orion, apparently smiled during many of these runs, seemingly satisfied. He'd stand up from the Captains chair, and watch from the viewports as the supplies reached those precious few who could outrun and out hide the Imperial patrols.
From there, the Wraith fought in numerous operations, from the destruction of the second death star to the Ackbar Campaign. It was during the Ackbar campaign that the ship won its fame. The ship scored three kills during the Campaign on ships of an equal or greater size and armament, the most famous incident occurring when the Corvette jumped out of hyper space escorting three Rebel transports by itself.
They found themselves under attack by three Tartan-class patrol cruisers.
Acting quickly, Captain Orion ignored the Imperials call to stand down, and opened fire. The Imperial's were new, untrained, and untested. And they were facing a crew of veterans who had been seeking vengeance since the destruction of their homeworld. The battle left the Alderaanian Wraith severely damaged, but standing on top. Two of the patrol cruisers had been destroyed, and the third had surrendered to the Rebels. Captain Orion was a hero overnight.
A decade plus later, and the Alderaanian Wraith still serves the Rebellion. Except now, it's the Republic. The veteran crew has seen many of its best and brightest leave, but Captain Orion continues to serve. When the call was given out, looking for a Corvette to be modified based on the schematics recovered from the FarStar, Captain Orion answered it.
The Alderaanian Wraith now awaits its next mission, resting on the islands of Halawa. Its Captain, an old and grizzled veteran of two decades of war, is rarely seen at the beach where so many of the new crew spend their time off-duty. He just wanders the halls of his ship, and listens to the recording of the final transmission he ever received from his family.
"I love you father, come home soon."
