Service Record
The Helix was a sneaky attempt by Arakyd to slip a heavily-armed "freighter" past the Imperial Bureau of Ships and Services. Officially, its design was for it to be able to defend itself from pirates and act as an escort for other freighters or even a fighter in pinch situations, that said though it was far and away over-armed for its size of freighter. The Bureau of Ships and Services ordered a stop to production six months after the type's debut and demanded that all owners were to strip the ships down to meet with regulations. However, Arakyd sold what stock they had (which was actually respectably large considering) and those who purchased the ship rarely obeyed the demands. While not particularly fast (at least compared to most fighters), it's remarkably maneuverable for its size and a well-armed opponent, not to mention has the resilience benefits of being a freighter.
This Helix was sold three months after the type first appeared to a Corellian freighter captain who'd just lost his ship to pirates. Originally named the White Shadow, he took out a pretty big debt from a loan shark to get the ship, but unfortunately was unable to pay it off, even by smuggling. Eventually the loan shark collected and confiscated the Helix, renaming it Gilded Mynock and gave it to his personal enforcer. This enforcer would be a big hassle for some time, entering into "forced reclamation" of those who defaulted on payments and occasionally outright shooting people out of the sky with the ship. However, eventually the loan shark would get into trouble thanks to his goon's actions and the freighter would be confiscated to be sold at auction. Here it would be purchased by yet another smuggler, this time saving the name of the ship and taking it on quite a few runs. Eventually, the ship was confiscated yet again after a bad bet in a pod-racing match, at which point it was briefly owned by a planetary governor, but before the paint was even dried it was stolen and given to Senator Therrin Faar, who renamed it the Ice Prince. It would remain in the senator's hands for some time, mostly serving as his personal pleasure ship, but eventually a run-in with the law would see him fleeing from bounty hunters. Eventually he would be caught by Jan Salincho who would capture both the bounty and take the ship to get a new ID transponder, labeling it as the Thin Line and placing it in his name.
Since then, the ship has been serving as Salincho's personal ship, both as a fighter to capture bounties, both in their ships and out of them, and as a freighter to haul cargo. While its previous owners had done a good job of keeping it upgraded, the ship's engines were always in need of improvements compared to the rest of the craft, so it would undergo an overhaul there, as well as the power core. Despite its age and track record, the Line has mostly gone without serious damage, seeing a few strikes but so far being repaired and well-maintained. It has seen hundreds of worlds and continues to go on many a journey, and hopefully it will see many more.
