It made a distinctive sound as it joined the others. An all too familiar sound resonated through the Atomic Wrangler, the clinking of glass against glass. It was Sierra's sixth glass of whiskey that night. She planned to drink much more than that. Another sound came through, she could hear it over the ambience in the Wrangler, but it seemed no other could, or no other paid attention to it. It was meant for her.
"Now now. Best slow down a little baby, or you'll be asleep on the counter before the festivities start."
It came from a man in armour somewhat similar to hers, but covered in a cloak.
"Fuck off."
"I'm just looking out for you baby, they got this one gal here, voice of an angel."
Sierra swung around, and pulled her pistol out of it's holster, and pressed it against the man's leg. He smiled.
"Call me baby again and I'll put one round through your leg."
His eyes darted to the gun, his smile widened. He quickly moved, twisted Sierra around and held her in a bear hug.
"You forgot to turn the safety off. Come, I just want to talk."
The man, still holding her, walked over to a table, and let her sit in a chair. He did the same. The singer he mentioned beforehand had just come onto the stage.
"Liam. And you are?"
"Sierra."
"Pleasure to meet you."
Liam moved his hand across the table, leaving it open to a handshake, Sierra eyed him. He retreated.
A woman walked over, a waitress of sorts, and asked Liam what he was having.
"A beer for me."
He looked at Sierra, and answered for her.
"Bottle of whiskey."
