The racket the gnomes were making was slowly dying off as Nalfien continued to stay crouched near the wall. It wasn't until there was complete silence that he stood once more, and took slow light footed steps deeper in, using his infrared vision to follow the footsteps left behind from the gnomes.
It wasn't until he heard the sound of ground displacing that he froze once more. He waved his left hand, and began to feel his body grow light as he levitated further up the wall. Stopping himself by grabbing hold of the cold wall with his left hand, he prevented himself from going any higher into the pitch black that was above him. He knew of what could possibly lurk higher up in the cavern walls, but he was not about to test to see if any of those creatures were around.
Nalfien slowly began pulling himself along the wall a good 12 feet off the ground, progressing further while being on the search for the source of the sound of ground being disturbed.
