Character Name: Lautrec Carim
Nickname(s): Lord Carim
Race: Breton, suffering with the Montalion strain of vampirism.
Sex: Male
Age: 244
Birthplace: Wayrest, High Rock
Height: 6'0
Weight: 167lb
Eye Color: The iris is bright red, glowing in the dark, and the cornea is as black as night; an unnerving combination.
Hair Color: Black
Hair Style: The neatly trimmed style of a nobleman; his vampirism has made sure that his hair has remained in a constant state for centuries.
Facial Hair: Clean Shaven, for the most part.
Skin Color: Extremely pale, though it varies slightly based on how often he feeds.
Build: Lautrec is quite athletic and has toned muscle, but isn't the strongest man alive. This lack of strength is made up for by his vampiric agility.
Distinguishing Features: Physically, he is rather memorable; his face is almost skeletal, his skin as white as one of Skyrim's winters, his eyes glow more vividly than candlelight and his prominent fangs hang from his lips due to their sheer size. Lautrec also has a rather distinct voice; although distinctly Breton in tone, it appears to have a refined yet alien touch to it due to his illness warping his vocal chords. His voice is often overshadowed by his words, however; he is extremely narcissistic and a true sociopath, speaking down to even his brothers and clansmen as a result of the power he holds and how it has corrupted him.
Profession: Lord of the Carim Clan, descendant of the illustrious Montalion bloodline.
Skills: Lautrec is a seasoned expert of the art of swordsmanship, having fought many a rival vampire lord with his family heirloom, "Melnibone", and can don lighter armours with great skill and flexibility. On the other hand, he's no fool when it comes to stealth either, having to have spent a plethora of years in hiding in his past. Being of Montalion blood gives him a higher agility than most and he's both a decorated acrobat and a master of athleticism.
Magic: Unlike his ancestry, magic is not Lautrec's strongest suit, but he's experienced with it's powers. The darker arts of Conjuration are open to him, being able to raise the dead, turn the dead and summon lesser Daedra to come to his aid. Lacking a shield, he uses powerful lightning magic from the Destruction school to stun his foes and singe their flesh. As a Montalion, he is able to open a portal to certain marked places, though requires a lot of focus and a little luck to hit his mark.
Training: From the days of both his youth and adulthood, he was trained to hone both magika, blades and armour; he followed in his family's tradition of "the Nightblade", using the black art and professional skill with a blade to vanquish his foes. After his father infected him with vampirism, he was taught to hone his skills and how to select his prey but has mostly developed these skills over long periods of time as a vampire and not through training.
Other Abilities: Being of vampiric blood, he is able to drain the lifeblood of his victims through his sharpened fangs and has heightened strength and agility due to his condition, doubly so due to being of Montalion blood. However, being undead comes with prices; sunshine is Lautrec's destroyer, but as a result of living in constant darkness his eyes are adjusted well to the solace of the shadows. His Montalion blood gives him the power to cure paralysis if he is afflicted with it; a handy tool against any would-be vampire hunters.
Apparel: Lautrec wears the fine attire of a Breton nobleman, made of the fanciest silks and cloths available. The clothing itself is dark blue with red trim, and he always sports a cowl and cloak with the same colour scheme to hide his appearance. Both his fine leather gauntlets and greaves are made of the purest leathers, albeit they are both littered with cracks and show signs of age. An amulet is always worn around his neck; a gold amulet with a blood vial encased within it and jeweled, the word "Lifeblood" etched into it in the Breton tongue.
Weaponry: Melnibone (pronounced mel-nib-oh-nay), a mithril-steel hybrid broadsword with the imbued power to snatch men's souls after death, with the Carim crest on the hilt.
Other Equipment: Lord Carim keeps a stock of black soul gems on his person at all times, and occasionally a few healing potions or poisons depending on what the situation warrants.
Companions: Lautrec sometimes brings his underlings with him, but prefers solace.
Affiliation: The Carim Coven
Religious Belief: He acknowledges that Daedra, Aedra, Sithis and the Ideal Masters all exist, but does not care for any of them.
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: Looking for the ideal mate to continue the Carim dynasty and the Montalion Bloodline.
Personality: Lautrec is a rather tragic figure, having been a fairly empathic and emotional man before his inheritance of the family's tradition. The labels he was given as he adapted to his condition became truths; he gradually accepted that it was it was in his nature, or blood (no pun intended), to be evil; to be the bad guy. This humble and pure origin however is no reason to sympathise with him as he currently is; from both the power he was given as a noble and the power he was granted from his disease, he has become obsessed with control and is a borderline megalomaniac, almost a sociopath. Due to his love of plays and Breton theatre when he was in his youth, he has a rather dramatic, some would say melodramatic, flair in his actions, speaking in profound and refined terms with an heir of comedy almost due to how over the top they often are. His greatest desire ever since his indoctrination into the Montalion bloodline is to spread his influence and his "gift", in order to attain even more control and power than ever before. Some might call his callous for cruelty towards people, but he uses it to feel as though he is dominating whomever he may be being unkind towards; to install a fear that makes him feel empowered.
To some people's surprise, he is insecure about his illness and hates evening talking about it, hiding behind a hateful perpetually evil mask. It suits his blood to be nothing more than a plain-dealing villain, and he embraces this all too well.
Lautrec Carim of the prestigious, or at least once-prestigious, Carim dynasty was born to a noble family in the influencial region of High Rock known as Wayrest. His upbringing certainly differed from that of an average Breton child, but not in a bad sense; he was in some ways spoiled materialistically and shown very little punishment whenever he did something bad, but he wasn't arrogant due to the fact his elder brothers often put him down and picked on him. Although it was compulsory that he would have to learn of the history of Nirn and the theoretical side of Magika, he did take a keen interest in academic studies for the most part. His real interest, even from a young teen, lied in Breton theatre; surprising for someone as introverted and quiet as he was. While he rarely ever acted in plays, he was a fan of watching and studying them, especially if they were able to evoke an emotional response. While his elder brothers focused mainly on becoming great noble warriors, he preferred visiting theatre's across Wayrest and beyond if his mother allowed him. Of course, he was given combat training as was customary as part of his education, but at this point in time he cared not for it.
Unlike his siblings who went on to join the Fighter's Guild or become explorers, he went into professional acting. The status he had as a noble gave him some sway with the variety of acting guilds located in the region, but that's not to say he wasn't good at what he did and he went on to act in some fairly famous productions in his life, working alongside other famed actors. It was around the time that he had established himself as a well-known actor that his father, whom he had rarely seen for most of his life apart from in his bedroom cloaked in darkness, began to take more of an interest in him, though with ulterior motives. After several months of growing close to Lautrec, his father inflicted him with vampirism, welcoming him to the Montalion bloodline and revealing what the Carim "dynasty" really was. Upon having this happen to him, Lautrec shed tears that for the first time would not be spilt upon the wooden floor of a stage production. The transformation was traumatising; the pain he felt in sunlight was unspeakable, causing him to retreat to his manor and sometimes even having to take shelter in the basement to alleviate the pain from sunlight entering the house. Without knowing how to feed, his appearance grew grotesque and warped, as did his voice. Lautrec's father had deliberately left him to suffer in order to test his strength, and only after a week or so of being a vampire did he visit Lautrec and begin to groom his successor.
Under his father's wing, Lautrec discovered how to feed, how to hide from the sunlight and how to disguise his ailment in public at night. His life revolved around physical training and combat techniques, learning how to fully grasp his new found dark gift. Like his father before him, he was groomed to be a Nightblade; a magic wielding swordsman who favours the shadowy cloak of the night. The training he undertook went on for several years, after which Lautrec had grown
