Clayton Boswell lived in the shadow of Wyoming's mountains, on a ranch out on the range. His father was a rancher, raising animals and making a living for himself out on the homestead. He taught Clay everything he knew, and Clay grew up learning how to shoot and hunt. The Boswells traded what they did have, for what they didn't, at a small nearby settlement. Clay soon learned how to live off the land, and how to hunt. His father gave him an old 30/30 lever action rifle to hunt with, and Clay brought home extra meat. Clay soon got a little too big for his britches, and went out hunting some Yao Gui. Now, the Yao Gui back east are mutated black bears, but the grizzly yao gui are a whole different animal. Clay didn't seem to notice that what he was out stalking for, was also stalking him. As the gui charged Clay, the bullet from his rifle grazed the animal, due to Clay's panic. Luckily, his father was there with 45/70 guide rifle, putting the beast down. Clay realized that he still had a lot to learn.
Clay lived on the ranch for years, perfecting his shooting. He soon got his hands on a single action revolver, which he became quite skilled with. It was around Clay's 17th birthday that he first really had to tangle with dangerous predators, of the two legged variety. A group five raiders came to the ranch while Clay's father was away. Clay grabbed his revolver, knowing that he had to defend his mother, siblings, and land. Clay holstered the gun, and took the 30/30 off the gun rack, sliding the rounds into the loading gate. Clay made his way to some cover, un-noticed by the men. Clay saw one in leather armor, making his way towards the house. By the way he held his combat shotgun, Clay could tell he meant business. As the man walked by Clay, Clay jumped out of cover, and put a shot in the back of the raider's head. Clay quickly worked the lever, and fired a round off at another bandit, who was charging at him with a tire iron. The bandit fell to the ground as the rifle round hit him center mass. Clay ducked down as 10mm round wized by his head from a handgun. Another man was making his way towards him with a combat knife. Clay jumped out, putting two rounds into the man with the gun, but was attacked by the knife wielding brigand. The man thrusted his blade at Clay, cutting his arm. Clay quickly swung the but of his rifle at the man, knocking the knife out of his hands. The two then wrestled over the rifle, and Clay let go. Clay then drew his six-shooter, sending a piece of lead into the man's gun. The bandit was then struck with a bullet in the head, as the two remaining men fired upon Clay. One was armed with a hunting rifle, using iron sites, while the other had an old pump action shotgun. Clay took one out with his revolver, while the other one fell dead, as a shot was fired from Clay's father's guide gun. Clay's father later gifted him a .357 lever action repeating rifle.
Clay continued to work on the ranch, but soon found work as a guide, guard, and mercenary in the area. Eventually, he decided to go on an adventure, when a trader was looking for guards to go down to the Mojave with him. Clay volunteered, and said his goodbyes, and went off down south. Clay's part ventured into Utah, going through Salt Lake city, or at least what is left of it. They fought the giant mantises that inhabit the region, as they made there way to the Long 15. Clay's group of ten men were ambushed by White Leg raiding parties. Luckily, they were able to fight them off, but three of their own died. Two from "storm drums", and one forma tomahawk tot he head. They kept a low profile on the rest of their journey to the south, avoiding the White Legs, and the Legion. Eventually, they reached Nevada, and continued down to New Vegas. Clay was relived to have made it so far. He decided to make some extra caps doing caravan work in the area. Although he thinks of home often, the are many interesting opportunities to be had by Clay down in the Mojave Wasteland.
