Weaponry: Jos never leaves home without his trusty vibrodagger on one hip and his scrap CDEF blaster, which has been repaired so often it barely has a shell anymore, with many of it’s innards exposed. It aint pretty, but when you’re a poor son of a gun trying to do business, you’ll take anything. He also keeps a similarly scrap slugthrower under the counter if things get really rowdy, which most often than not, they do.
Equipment: Jos doesn’t keep much on him, as he never really travels that far from his cantina, but when he does, he usually is found wearing a badge of freedom, referred to as jedahag in Huttese to signify his freedom as a former slave.

Personal Information

Rank: Owner
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual, though he hasn’t seen a female Nikto, which is his usual preference, in quite a while.
Relationship Status: Single
Personality: Jos is a grumpy old guy for the most part. He’s rough around the edges and with spikes to boot he doesn’t seem very friendly, also that cold unblinking expression doesn’t help matters. He’s quite hard to get to know for many, though those that do get to know him often find he’s quite a bit more than just a grumpy guy sat behind the bar. Most people will often just rather talk to the pretty Twi’lek standing at the other end. Jos is quite mistrusting of people, particularly those that work for the Hutts, having seen his species kept in metaphorical and sometimes physical chains. That being said, once he’s grown to trust someone, he does so implicitly.
Jos is used to the many rumours spread about him, and whilst some are true and others are not, he secretly enjoys living up to them. He likes himself to be seen as something of a fearsome warrior and a hero, which is why he never quelled the rumours that brought about his nickname Legionbane. It might also help deter anyone from messing with the great Legionbane and so far it’s worked.
Personally, Jos is quite an optimistic guy. He has embraced his freedom, and whilst most free Nikto have fled Hutt Space, Jos decided to stay and make his little realm better by being there. Restoring a little order to a cantina might not seem like much, but having a safe communal area means an awful lot to people. Since he arrived, Jos has noticed a small decrease in crime, even if things do get rowdy regularly, in his arrogance he believes he is to blame, though he can never be too sure.
History
Being born in Kintan’s desert was hard enough as it was for any Nikto, but being born into slavery too was just downright merciless. Nonetheless all Nikto were, and as such, so was Jos. Some kindess, if you could call it that, was spared children, and they were able to remain with their mothers until such time that they could be separated and trained to work as slaves. As with most Nikto it was only a few years before Jos was sent to train as a slave soldier. He was to join a Hutt security force. There he would be expected to be brutally efficient in his duties, and that was reflected in his training. Mistakes weren’t allowed. Those that made mistakes went off to work in the mines… if they were lucky. Jos didn’t make mistakes, at least not any that were caught. Instead he turned out to be rather good at his task and soon was ‘promoted’ to active service, and so joined a cadre of Niktos servicing the minor Hutt warlord Nimmi in his palace on Astar.
Astar was a small insignificant world on the borders of Hutt Space, relatively nothing went on there. Though he never said it, Jos really wanted something to happen. The only thing that ever did however was Nimmi wanting someone executed. They never really put up a fight, and together with his other Nikto enforcers they eradicated their target and returned to their duties. These duties included a lot of standing around and looking mean. Occasionally some Imperial officer would come by and demand something from Nimmi, Nimmi would give lip service and the Imp would be on their way. Jos often found himself subconsciously reaching for his gun. At the time he wanted to go toe to toe with one of these imps to see how tough they really were. The opportunity never came however, as the Rebellion sparked off elsewhere in the galaxy. Soon the Imps were only barely concerned with the Hutts and soon things went back to normal.
Years of agonising, dull torture passed, and whilst he went through very little in the way of actual conflict, he was itching for a fight, and soon he would get his wish. Nimmi had been expanding his businesses off world when news came of Jabba’s demise. Within a few months, Nimmi found himself under siege on Astar by a rival Hutt clan. Jos has stated many times that that day was the first time he ever experienced excitement. Whilst the palace was battered, Jos fought on the perimeter walls along with his other brethren. It wasn’t until there was a large push when Jos realised he was fighting members of his own race. It dawned on him that the Hutts weren’t really fighting; they were using them to fight their battles for them. He fought nonetheless, those that showed any sort of doubt now was likely to be shot. Regretfully, he gunned down his own people, and with every one of his own people he killed, the hatred for the Hutts grew stronger. After the battle was done, Jos stood looking over the field. It was hard to tell who was fighting for whom. No Hutt had a uniform for their troops, or a set standard of armour. They all looked the same. As Nimmi slid out of his hiding place deep within the palace, he chuckled. Jos wanted to kill him right there, but he knew he’d never survive. During his time he had heard of slaves that earned their freedom that was his way out. If he escaped he would be hunted by Bounty Hunters, and he’d just end up dead before he could get off planet. So he needed to earn his freedom.
With a renewed sense of purpose, Jos became a ferocious fighter. He stood above the rest of the men, and soon earned the ‘rank’ of captain. That just gave him more responsibility, but it also earned him respect… To an extent, he rather liked that.
At age thirty-seven, whilst Jos was protecting Nimmi from yet another assault, Nal Hutta was assaulted by an unexpected force. Suddenly all hostilities ceased between the Hutt clans, and talks began. Before Jos knew it, they were now allied up with several other clans and were unified in facing another enemy. This time however, they would be facing against droids. There was something inherently creepy about fighting a soulless army of metal, Jos realised this the first time he went up against them at the battle of Circumtore. Aboard the station, Jos and his men assaulted the droids who had occupied it since they arrived. Needless to say the Levy droids proved to be a dangerously effective weapon as two of Jos’s men had died in the first five minutes of battle. Soon enough the whole station was a warzone, explosions rattled the places, whilst security forces appeared in aid of Jos’s men. The Levies held up their defence, seeming almost infinite in number. Jos continued to fight, as more of his men died around him. No wonder Nal Hutta fell so quickly, he thought as he saw station security men go down from a rocket blast from the bulky war droids.
The Black Sun Pirates ultimately joined the war in favour of the united Hutt clans, and Jos’s badly beaten unit was ultimately relieved when their fleet arrived at Circumtore. Eventually the droids there were beaten, but there were heavy casualties. It didn’t end there however. As soon as Jos’s unit was replenished he was sent back out to fight, and fought many battles across Hutt Space in bloody fields, muddy rain forests and all other manner of foul landscapes. All the while Jos drowned in the blood of his fallen comrades. Jos survived in the end however, and as the final year of the war against Nasrii started, Jos was pulled back to Astar, where he would yet again suffer another assault on the palace. This time however, he was facing an entire droid invasion force.
As Jos set up the defences, a rumour spread into the camp that a Hutt named Gutta had leaked the location of Nimmi’s palace in order to convince Nasrii to allow his clan to defect. Nimmi was obviously outraged at the idea, but after seeing the invasion army, he had no choice but to surrender to Nasrii and avoid any unnecessary loss in profits. After that point on, Levy droids were seen all over Astar, as it became one of many worlds under Nasrii’s overarching thumb. It seemed all had but cleared, until Nimmi ordered the Nikto to assault Gutta’s palace with their entire force. The Nikto seeing how suicidal that would be, given Gutta’s alliance with Nasrii began to show dissent. Fearing Nimmi’s reaction to the dissent, and a potential, Jos put fourth an idea. He suggested that Nimmi set free any Nikto who survived the assault on Gutta’s palace and proceeded to kill the Hutt. Nimmi, though frustrated was intrigued by the idea, and with a laugh said fine. Both of them knew that it was likely none of them if any would make it back, but there was always a chance.
Jos and the Nikto boarded gunships and soon set off for Gutta’s palace in a neighbouring star system. Landing in the dark, Jos and his men marched towards the palace and once in range, the gunships began firing, lighting up the palace and the surrounding settlement like a wildfire. The other Nikto launched an assault from the ground and soon enough the whole place lit up. The fighting was brutal, Gutta’s Nikto had never seen anything like it, and the other side was fighting with such desperation they were put on the back foot immediately. Even with the reinforcing Levy droids, the ferocity of Jos and the other men proved too much for the defenders.
By dawn, Jos and thirty of his men had made it into the palace and were fighting in the halls. Many pillars had fallen and sun was trickling through the cracks in the wall. Unrelenting, Jos lead the charge, and though he didn’t know it, many of his fellow Nikto outside of the palace had fallen as more defenders had arrived from across the planet. Soon their escape was cut off. Pressing on Jos and his ever decreasing men count made their way into the throne room. They were almost shocked to find Gutta stood there with a pistol and firing at them as soon as they got inside. Jos ordered some of his men to stand watch as he moved across the room, shooting the Hutt in the arm and making it drop it’s pistol. Immediately Gutta began backing up, against the far wall of the palace. All the while Jos was shouted at in Huttese, he advanced on the Hutt, until Gutta couldn’t retreat anymore. Jos went to raise his pistol at the Hutt when it pulled out a thermal detonator… from somewhere. Jos wasn’t entirely sure where from, frankly he didn’t really want to know. As Gutta threatened to blow them all up, Jos just shook his head, shooting Gutta in the chest. The shock of the gunshots must’ve made it relax it’s grip cause suddenly the thermal detonator dropped to the floor and Jos began running. The explosion sent him and his men crashing to the floor. Gutta, or what was left of it, exploded, but soon disappeared as the floor gave out and fell away down onto the ground below where many droids stood waiting for orders.
Disorientated, but alive, Jos and his men managed to pull themselves up and onto a gunship as it flew onto their level and carried them aboard. Even under gunfire it managed to pull out and get away thus granting all those within her their freedom.
Back on Astar, the fifteen or so men from Jos’s squad, plus the three that were in the gunship were awarded their freedom, even if it was begrudgingly, and were sent on their merry way with a meagre bunch of Wupiupi. For many of them it was just enough to get them to a spaceport in order to get jobs heading out of Hutt Space, for others they just blew celebrating… As for Jos, he was done playing war. Ultimately he spent his way to Lyran Station. After looking at his options, and noticing a for sale notice on the holonet, he decided that’s where he needed to be. And thus, he brought a crummy old cantina off a guy, who just wanted to get out of Hutt Space. He knew that if he got out of Hutt Space, he would probably never return. What was he good for anyway? Fighting, that was it… There were plenty of fighters out there, but in Hutt Space he could do some good. Lyran Station was as good as any, and after arriving at the station, it was clear it needed some help.
Since then, the cantina has become a local safe spot, employing the locals and paying… a decent wage. Well as decent as one gets in Hutt Space. At least it’s not slavery. Every now and then someone from Jos’s unit will show up and tell a tall tale of how Jos once shot a Hutt in the stomach and it exploded killing a legion of droids. Of course that story is far from the truth, but Jos likes it… and well, that’s all that counts in the end.
