Personal Information
Factional Affiliation: Chiss Ascendancy, Imperial Remnant (contracted)
Rank: Medic
Sexual Preference: Mostly heterosexual
Relationship Status: Single
Personality:
Despite the Chiss reputation for being arrogant and aloof, almost to the point where the average citizen mistrusts them on principal, anyone who knows Tiwa knows she’s nothing like the stereotype. She is charming, polite and educated, that much is true, as can be heard in her voice, but she is often kind and quite friendly. You could definitely say she has a good bedside manner. That being said she can grow to be frustrated with her patients, especially ‘repeat offenders’ who ignore her warnings. Despite this, she is overall a good doctor who cares for those under her care regardless of who or what they are. Her ethics to heal is a belief she holds above all else, which is why she has no qualms about healing the Imperial Remnants. In her mind everyone is entitled to medical care regardless of whom or what they are, which sometimes puts her at odds with certain people. Nonetheless it has fuelled her eventual dream of owning her own hospital, which she would use to aid whoever comes through the door.
Whilst she does care for all life, she is by no means a pushover. In fact, she is rather lethal when pushed. She is not above jamming a scalpel in the throat of an attacker when necessary and has made sure she is adequately able to defend herself. She lives by the mantra “Don’t make your doctor mad, they’ll kill you and they’ll do it quickly. You won’t feel a thing and therefore you’ll never know it was coming.”
On a more personal basis, Tiwa is a lot more reserved than your average citizen. She is often reluctant to let people in and even then she prefers to remain professional with them. Why she is like this, she doesn’t rightly know. In her mind it’s probably just some remnant of Chiss civilisation. She doesn’t often like to drink alcohol, though she’ll often opt for tea instead, further highlighting her need to remain ‘prim and proper’. When she does let people in however, she will care for them more deeply than any one of her patients. She will keep them in her life for good, though since that has never happened before; she is yet to fully grasp what that would be like.
History
Born on Kinoss within the Chiss Ascendancy, Tiwa was daughter to a rather well-to-do family. Her father, a politician, brought in quite a lot of money, as did her mother, who served CEDF. It would’ve been no real surprise that the girl grew up with a figurative silver spoon in her mouth. Like all Chiss she was expected to do well, and since her father had greyed far before his time, social standard dictated that Tiwa was to be extraordinary.
To a point Tiwa was, she was bright, smart and a rather friendly girl. This was much to the chagrin of her father, who wanted a stern an authoritative child, much like him or her mother. He wanted someone who would take his place eventually, but he never got that. Instead he got a girl who was too concerned with the safety of others and idolised doctors. It was immediately obvious that that was the path for her, and she wasn’t going to be convinced either way. When she came of age, much like every other Chiss, at the age of fifteen she decided to leave Kinoss. She travelled to Sposia with the mind to accomplish that desire to heal and become a doctor.
For three years she trained to become a doctor of medicine at an academy on Sposia. She learned quite a lot of the basics. She showed an aptitude for retaining information and then putting it into practise when she needed to. She didn’t manage however to get much experience in the field during her training due to the short time she spent at the academy, though what she did learn there would stay with her permanently.
In 18 ABY, Tiwa’s training at the academy was cut rather short, when news of his father’s death reached her. It appeared that he had been assassinated by a rival political faction, something of which was considered normal to Chiss. His assassination didn’t honestly surprise Tiwa, though it did spark her desire to get away from Chiss space. If Tiwa was honest, she didn’t feel safe after that point. She wondered how often other people got killed as a result of political ideas and thus she wanted out. An opportunity landed itself on her doorstep at that point; a head-hunter for a medical contractor’s organisation visited the academy. They were there to find potential recruits to steal away from the academy and put them to work in a military capacity over the Ascendancy and beyond. Immediately, Tiwa took up the offer and transferred out. For the time being she forgot her dream of becoming a doctor and took up a year’s worth of intense training to become a battlefield medic. Given her previous years at the academy, she had covered the majority of the theoretical side of the training and thus that was easy. The physical training did tire her out quite a bit, especially as she often found herself tossed about to different locations quicker than she’d ever travelled before. She almost believed she would falter under the pressure but as 19 ABY came around, she realised the training was over. She passed with flying colours and was then offered several contracts the company had to offer. When she noticed one of the contracts took her out of Chiss Space, that was the one she took, and thus she was transferred.
The contract landed her up in the service of the Imperial Medical Corp, working for the Imperial Remnants. Her contract entitled her to quarters in the capital of Bastion, Ravelin, and she was soon assigned an overly small apartment within the city. Thankfully, the placement of the apartment served her well. It’s proximity to military transportation as well as the Imperial medical training centre. Her attendance at the training centre came at an incredible blessing. It allowed her to learn about human and alien anatomy, and continue her training to become a doctor. She was rather surprised that human anatomy was so close to her own, since she’d been told all sorts of things about the species outside of Chiss Space. It seemed that the feeling was mutual as she found herself the source of much interest from her fellow human students. Unlike many of the students however, her contract forced her to leave on assignments and get attached to any vessel or company that required medical personnel. So whenever she would return back to Bastion she would be met with new students and thus never really gained any connections. When she couldn’t return however, she studied whilst in the field, wrote papers and researched in her free time.
Four years into time with the Imperials she eventually got a firm grasp of Imperials having studied them during her time among them. She began to see their bigotry towards non-human races. She too had bared witness to such acts, though on the whole Chiss seemed to be tolerated and even liked in some circles. Nonetheless she was often faced with rude individuals, and sometimes things became aggressive. She soon learned to keep a vibrodagger on her person at any one time, particularly when on her own. As she travelled she realised that the bigotry became more and more concentrated as she got closer to Bastion, and on the borders and on particular planets the bigotry often became somewhat diluted. Still, things like health were often things reserved specifically for humans, and most aliens were left to fend for themselves. Tiwa, having seen this and gaining ever closer to her dream of becoming an actual doctor soon realised her actual dream. She decided to put her money away to buy a building and set up hospital for everyone regardless of species and economic wealth. Of course she would do it far away from Bastion, though the actual location of said hospital remains fully up in the air. Still, she maintains her contract with the Imperials, and is often carted off without any real autonomy. Even if a lot of them are aggressive and bigoted, they have as much right to be healed as anyone else. That’s what she believes anyway, though she was sure many disagreed.
