The human later in life named Kael Varik was born in the year 5 BBY, on the swampy planet of Dromund Kaas. Kael showed signs of force sensitivity early in life, and was taken by the Empire, and was promptly handed over to the Inquisitorius for training. Kael was only 10 when the Empire crumbled at the hands of Luke Skywalker. She stayed with the Inquisition until it's dissolution, integrated into the Sith Kingdom. Kael was further trained by the Sith for two years, and was chosen by a newly appointed Sith Lord.

It was strange, this Lord Varik, had basically adopted Kael. Kael hated the man, however, she could act. For six years she acted like she loved him, like the beatings she received were punishment for being a bad daughter. Slowly, but surely, Kael began to surpass her master. One day, after a particularly harsh lesson, Kael electrified Lord Varik in front of his underlings. When the fight was shocked out of him, Kael tossed him around the room, and eventually choked him to death with her bare hands. She assumed the title and name of Lord Varik. The first thing she did was kill all of Varik's other apprentices the same day, before they had time to think about overthrowing her.

Of course, she now needed new underlings. Lord Varik returned to Korriban, and took on one apprentice, a female Twi'lek, who showed particular promise in the Force.
