Tage grew up at the Citadel in the Capital wasteland and was raised by his parents who were ex-slaves from the Pitt and were rescued by the first of the Brotherhood when they came to the Capital. He was one of the first squires that was born and raised in the Citadel. He went through basic training same as anyone else in the fort and once he was sixteen he was put into a patrol squad just outside D.C. He wanted to be stationed in the mall of the city but they wouldn't allow an initiate on such a high-risk station. But with enough nagging he was able to convince a knight to take him on a low-risk mission in the city. The knight's name was Colvin and after running into an unexpected amount of Super mutants on the mission, Tage was able to keep his cool and the squad came out unharmed and mission success. Colvin vouched for the young soldier allowing Tage to go on more missions with higher-ranking Knights and even on rare occasion, Paladins. Tage had never actually made it to Knight but when Casdin left the Brotherhood he offered Tage the rank of Defender to join. Even though Tage cared little for the old ways of the Brotherhood, nor did he care for Lyons' way of running things either, he just figured he'd see more action and gain more respect through Casdin's Outcasts.
He served the Outcasts for the lifespan of the faction until the Brotherhood from the west came and absorbed both the Outcasts and Lyons Brotherhood into their ranks and effectively making the Capital wasteland a fairly safe and uneventful place. Tage left, still donning his Outcast combat armor with a sense of pride. For the next 6 years he would travel the east coast trying to make a name for himself working as a mercenary. He's visited places such as New York, The Broken Banks and spent a short time in the Commonwealth, though last he was there he found it hard to maintain freelance merc work, due to a large faction holding a monopoly on that line of work. Even in the capital the Rangers were the main guns for hire and already having so little work in D.C. anyways. Tage could easily join a larger faction having the combat skills he does, but his stubborn ways keep him from throwing away his rank of Defender, the only real title he's earned, save for any Brotherhood that he comes by that simply address him in a hostile tone as "Outcast".
