Corvus Blackwater
Character Name: Corvus Blackwater
Nickname(s): Lone Wolf, C.
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Age: 46 (Born in 2244)
Birthplace: Canterbury Commons
Height: 6'1
Weight: Corvus would not be easy to pick up, weighing about 12 Stone.
Eye Color: His right eye is bright blue, his left eye doesn't exist anymore!
Hair Color: Aged grey
Hair Style: Short and shaggy
Facial Hair: Survivalist beard
Skin Color: Tanned
Build: Somewhat muscular, matching his height
Distinguishing Features: His missing eye. The years haven't been kind to him either, he has scars all over his body from wounds.
Profession: Professional scavenger and Curator collector
Skills: Corvus is extremely good at one thing; living. His survival skills allow him to travel long distances without having to stop at settlements for anything. This means Corvus is also good at combat, mostly with a non-automatic rifle of some sort and hand-to-hand combat (for emergencies).
Training: Corvus was taught to hunt by his father, this meant he was taught to fight with rifles and hand-to-hand combat.
Other Abilities: Well, Corvus is friendly. He isn't the most interactive of people due to his age, but he's easy to get along with. This can make him soothing at times with friendly people.
Apparel: Corvus wears mostly leather which has protected him nearly all his life. He often wears long leather jackets going down to his knees because "it feels right."
Weaponry: A hunting rifle, old school lever action with no scope or advanced components. He also carries knuckle-dusters on his person, just in case he runs out of bullets.
Other Equipment: Corvus almost always has a backpack which he will carry his "scrap" in. Most of this scrap would be to trade, others would be to bring back to The Archive. This is quite heavy alongside his leather trenchcoat, but Corvus endures (that is why he is muscular).
Affiliation: The Curators.
Religious Belief: Corvus puts his faith in God (Christian).
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual.
Relationship Status: Widower
Personality: Corvus is a man whose age is taking it's toll... but the knowledge he cannot forget.
Alongside having a strong will, Corvus is also very friendly to those whom show open-mindedness and friendliness to him. To others, he can seem very defensive over the smallest of things. He is a hunter at heart, however... that is an important thing.
Among tales of Lone Wanderers, Corvus see's himself as a lone wolf / hunter who enjoys friendships from time to time, but cannot stay with his friends very long due to the urge to travel (and profit) alone.
Corvus is Christian. His father was a Christian and taught all he knew about God and his teachings (there were some inaccuracy) to his son. So beyond everything, Corvus is extremely devoted to both personal cause (for The Curators) in helping others and his faith in God.
History:
Corvus was born in 2244 in Canterbury Common, back when it was a small and fair little settlement. His mother, sadly, died at childbirth and his father always mourned over it... but his faith made him keep Corvus under the grief and helped him grow. His father wasn't the best of fathers- not very compassionate, closed minded and extremely wary of strangers. It was this behavior, however, that Corvus swore he'd never swoop to, despite his eternal love for his father.
By 2260, at the age of 16, Corvus had been taught by his father to be a hunter for Canterbury Common, trained in weaponry, scavenging for parts and fist-fights. Yes... Corvus often found himself in a brawl with people from Canterbury, sometimes winning, sometimes losing. It was more of a sport and hobby, despite his fathers disapproval. Above all things, however, Corvus's father was Christian and taught all he could to his son, knowing he had a large future. In 2262, his father died near Corvus's 18th birthday and it tore Corvus. He had no other known family still alive.
After hunting for most of his years, in 2271, Corvus moved to Megaton and become a resident there due to a personal liking to the settlement and being sweet on a girl there called Triss. To Corvus, Triss was a beautiful and intelligent woman who could even read and write. They met one day while collecting scrap- Corvus took an interest in Triss when she recovered an american flag. By 2272, they lived together and shared a life in which they thought would be eternal. They got caps by trading scrap while having a personal collection of pre-war artifacts in their home in Megaton, keeping the exotic scrap in secret as a personal hobby.
In 2277, however, Triss fell ill.
It was a sudden cancer which took Triss's life in the later months of 2277 and when she finally died, having not birthed a child, Corvus was heartbroken. He kept his home in Megaton and mourned over his loss for months. For a time, he even had an alcohol addiction, but it was cured by 2279 by constant visits to the doctors. It was only in 2279 that Corvus realized he needed to continue his life and find a new purpose.
It was also in 2279 that Corvus lost his left eye. While out collecting scrap and drinking a bottle of whiskey, unaware of his surroundings, he was attacked by a Raider with a knife. The raider "got lucky" (Corvus would say) and cut Corvus's eye so deep it would never be able to be seen through again. It was one of the reasons Corvus quit drinking.
Being a collector of rare pre-war "scrap" with his lovers hobby in mind, he continued collecting rare items found around The Capital Wasteland. In 2280, he had a tip about a pre-war magazine in the Super Duper Mart. Unfortunately, when he got there, he came across a red-haired woman called Jessica Rose who already had the magazine. Despite the mishap, they actually became quite good friends due to similar interests. Jessica was also a rare-scrap collector, but instead of collecting scrap, she collected books and magazines. They agreed to work together from time to time, finding strength in numbers. But Corvus kept himself distant between the idea of having Jessica as a lover, due to past experiences with his lost love, Triss.
Inbetween the next five years, Corvus mostly continued his existence by helping Jessica from time to time, trading scrap and generally living. It's all Corvus knew.
In 2285, Corvus found a new purpose.
While helping Jessica find more books, they came across the Arlington Library. Corvus warned Jessica this location was full of hated Brotherhood of Steel, and thus, they began sneaking around in the darkness to avoid detection. But while sneaking, they unexpectedly bumped into someone who was also trying to hide. Finding this a risk that could end their lives, Corvus escorted the new shadow and Jessica out of the library to safety. This is where they met Lucy.
To Corvus, Lucy was a strange, yet friendly woman who seemed to enjoy knowledge. Jessica got along well with Lucy, better than Corvus ever could. Unexpectedly, Lucy had a personal like to Corvus as a fatherly figure... which at first he denied, but grew to the idea over the next few years.
On the same day, they decided to explore The Georgetown Public Library, the trio coming across it in the DC ruins, hoping Jessica could find some books here. When Lucy was shot, Corvus was extremely wary when the traps were de-activated by two rather sad Ghouls. They helped Lucy, but Corvus mostly stayed away from the four as they healed Lucy. Over the next two days following this, Corvus slowly began to trust the two Ghouls and Lucy. As they discussed the idea of using the ghouls home (an underground library) to store information of all kinds, Corvus first thought it was a horrible idea.
And yet, Corvus became one of the founding members of The Curators. He devoted all his pre-war items (including Triss's) to The Archive and slowly grew to the idea of The Curators as a faction.
Corvus did this in the name of God and Triss, however. Personally, he had no interest in teaching anyone in the Capital Wasteland or beyond. He was merely, what one would describe, as a solider for The Curators. He would go out, find items of knowledge and give it to The Archive for all the more "intelligent" people to understand. This doesn't mean Corvus isn't a valued member of The Curators.
It just means he isn't like all the other members. A widower with a cause, but a lone wolf among the Wasteland.
Corvus continued The Curators mission until today, where he still goes out and collects items for The Curators while not drawing attention to himself, collecting scrap and game from hunting also. He leaves all the recruitment and radio business to Jessica Rose. But when The Curators need to get something done.... they often turn to Corvus.
