General News
Welcome back to the second week of the Nexus weekly news. As stated last week, we're still working on these edits to the general rules, so let's go ahead and get right on down to the sections.
Fallout
Since last week, we've managed to get a little bit done. We know it's going slowly, but building new guides from the ground up isn't the easiest thing. It's important we hold to canon, so before anything can be put up, we first try to make sure that all our information is on point. A good example of this is the newly renamed VDSG Catalog - Vaults.
As we allow users to create their own canon locations here on Nexus, it's important that we keep things consistent and believable. While we may encourage this, a noticeable problem is presented when vaults are concerned. Vault-Tec only made so many, and if they're to be spread across the United States then a particular state can only have so many.
What you'll see with this newly updated guide is a list of vaults, separated by both their state, and the information we have on them. If you've made a vault in the past and don't see it on the list, don't worry. When you go to make the resubmittal for the time jump, just be sure to point out that you have a vault on your profile, and we'll add it to the list. It would take considerably longer to try and locate all the mentions of vaults in every profile we've had submitted, and then determine if they have a conflict with any of the newer canon, so in the interest of time we're going to hold off an adding a vault to the list until we're almost positive it's being used.
Furtheron this point, and something we didn't hold to before, is that we are going to hold to the canon of the original vaults. As mentioned in the guide, and above, Vault-Tec only made 122 official vaults. While you're welcome to add things such as bunkers, military vaults, and other installations, the Vaults themselves will be limited to the 122 noted, and even then only so many can be placed in each state. You'll note in the guide that many states have a counter next to them (Total Vaults 0 of 1) and the vaults known listed beneath. This is to indicate the known vaults that could exist in a state, based either on its population, wealth, size, or location. When considering on whether or not to try submitting your own vault, make sure you take note of this. The Capital Wasteland, already has 7 vaults, and adding any more would keep other states from having their own fair share.
Lastly for this week, is the work done on the Creature Catalog. What was spoken of last week has mostly been finished, with all currently known creatures from Fallout 4 added to the list. The last thing to do (at least until the Creation Kit is released) is to reorganize the table - which if any of you have tried making one that size, it can be a bit unwieldy at times. Next up will be fully overhauling the Technical Threats into the new style.
The Elder Scrolls
There's still nothing new to report on the Elder Scrolls front, though with the continuing information coming from Elder Scrolls Online, we may find things that need adding at some point or another.
Halo
For the moment, there's still been no further discussion on what precisely we're doing with Halo, if much of anything. That being said, Halo Wars 2 was originally slated for 2016, so we'll be keeping our eyes open for any further news on that.
Star Wars
Last week we talked about the Ship guide, but this week we have something a little new in the works as well. With a galaxy at war, and four major factions all vying for control, it can be a bit confusing as how precisely they're doing so. In the Clone Wars, we see a lot of information concerning the inner workings of the Republic's military operation, but the question remains how the newer groups will all react.
Many people have been pleased about the First Order's new trooper armor, especially that sweet looking Chrome suit. We'll be giving that to the Imperials as they still exist in our canon, and detailing military ranks, specializations, and so on in this new guide. Hopefully this will make things easier for anyone looking to engage in full scale battle with these groups and their characters.
- Immortal, signing off.
