Growing up as a slave is always rough, but growing up in the Pitt makes it so much worse. From an early age, Rex's job was digging up, and braking down whatever junk he could finds for the slavers. A loner in a cruel city, he would regularly earn beating from the slavers, and get into fights with the other slaves. As he grew up, Rex was moved to assembly for showing great promise with rebuilding the more valuable objects he found. When the lone wanderer fought for Pitt, Rex realized what the outcome would be, and chose the moment to escape. Leaving was easier with a battle raging away from his planned trail to freedom, But between battling the trogs, scaling rubble, and crawling between cracks, was nowhere near simple. The battle was over well before he was free, but with the start he had, Rex made it out intact.
The initial shock of freedom left Rex unsure of what his next move would be, since he had no real knowledge of the surrounding area, let alone much about what was father out there. Only knowing he never wanted to go back, Rex followed the Allegheny North. The journey wan't to long before he ran into his first problem, a pack of four feral ghouls, slinking around a pile of ruble in the outskirts of Pittsburgh. The ghouls charged Rex, tripping over each other to be the first one to eat him. The first in range of his machete, was easily dispatched, with a well placed blow to it head. Two of the ghouls made it around, to each of his sides. While Rex disabled an arm on the one to his right, the other tore it's claws into Rex's side. Rex then pushed pushed it off of him, and charged the last ghoul in front of him, plunging his blade threw its chest. With adrenaline coursing threw every vein in his body, Rex made quick work of the final two ghouls. Panting from exhaustion, and clutching his bleeding side, Rex realized he just survived the hardest fight he had ever been in. Knowing he needed to recove, Rex continued down his path until he found a building, still in decent enough shape. Being an old novelty shop, Rex was able to find the rags he needed to wrap himself up with, as well as some food, and a shotgun with shells behind the counter.
The next few weeks for Rex, was continuing his journey down the river. During his hike through the old Pennsylvania farm lands, he battled with radroaches, radscorpions, mutant hounds, bloatflies, and all other beast, until he finally ran across something much worse then he ever faced, a yao guai. With only a few shells left, and still unsure of his abilities with it, Rex prepared for the end. As the beast ran straight at him, Rex unloaded on it (wishing to go out fighting), he could hear several different gunshots going off around him. before he knew it a large carcass collided with him, knocking him unconscious.
roughly a day later, Rex woke up in a bed, as a young woman dressed in long blue dress, and a bonnet on her head. Rex spent several days at the farmstead trying to help out with their daily chorus, learning to shoot from them, as well as trying to understand their odd language. On the fourth day of his stay, a small group of traders showed up. With an interpreter now available, Rex was able to thank them for their kindness, as well as learn about the culture they came from, called Amish.
Not wanting to over stay his welcome, Rex offered his help as a guard, and traveled with them for a time. During there travels, they reached everywhere from The Erie stretch, to the capitol wasteland, as well as the common wealth, and everything in between. During his first job as a caravan guard, Rex picked up his current gear, from the different settlements they stopped at. Rex finally separated from the group while they were staying in Canterbury commons, due to them making a trip to the Pitt. Rex tried to make a life in the Capitol wasteland, but without any real practice at staying in one spot, Rex would frequently get in trouble with the law, and have to go to other settlements. Now a days Rex can be found on the road, protecting caravans from raiders, anywhere within the American north east, seeking out adventure, and often convicing the merchant to take a brake on their travels, so he can explore a really promising looking ruin they just came to.
