General News
For the time being at least, rather then continue making news section for 'no news,' what we'll be doing instead is merely excluding certain sections from the news update when there isn't anything notable to include. Hopefully this will keep the information quick and concise. Moving on then, let's get right into it.
Fallout
A major addition has been made in fallout this week, for those of you that didn't see it go up already. In our Post Fallout 4 Canon thread, the long awaited addition of the Commonwealth has finally been made. Be sure to familiarize yourself with everything that's happened, as some of it doesn't go down quite the way the game might have portrayed.
We thought long and hard about how to include the Commonwealth and make it a useful environment for roleplay. Where the game is concerned, obviously you have to make a choice. While some may prefer the Brotherhood, fighting against synth slavery, or just a strong desire to rescue their son, the game seems to make it necessary for you to eliminate the other factions from the one you choose. When it comes to roleplay, it's important to leave these options open (and make the events seem feasible for normal humans). In short, we believe the decisions we've made here will help balance things for everyone that interacts in the canon, and still allow you all to create your own stories in the Wasteland.
All that's left now canon wise is an update to the West Coast, and in anticipation of that the minor overhaul to the character template is being worked on at present. I hope you all are looking forward to it!
Star Wars
If you didn't already know, Star Wars is going to be an ongoing process for us. While we have separated our canon to eliminate major characters, there's always new information approaching, and in such an expansive universe it's difficult to keep canon consistent. What do you include, and what not? As was mentioned last week, there's currently a military guide in the works, and you've seen the ship guide. But where Star Wars is concerned, we don't have quite the same extensive guides as in our other sections.
Be that as it may, with so many things on the table it can be difficult to find out what guides we actually need. As most of the information is available on the wiki, it's also important we don't overdo the information we place here. As such, one thing we've talked about is working on a more extensive canon guide, that determines what is (Disney's current EU) and isn't (The Yuuzhan Vong War of course) in our canon. Stay posted, and we'll let you know more as we decide on more ourselves.
