The Garrison started its career as a scouting vessel for the Galactic Empire. Eventually, sometime before the Battle of Yavin, the ship was disabled by Rebels after jumping almost directly into the opposing force with no aid. It had been sent to scout the system, which was thought to have previously housed a Rebel base. The only part they were wrong about was the word "previously." At some point, the ship somehow ended up being used by a smuggler to get past Imperial Blockades. Between 5 ABY and 12 ABY, the ship came into the possession of a politician and Moff of the Imperial Remnant. It was used as his personal shuttle and transported him and his Stormtrooper compliment to and from ships and planets. Little happened and the ship continued to be used this way until about 18 ABY, when it was reclaimed and outfitted with a few simple modifications, removing some cargo space in return for added signal range and scanning abilities, the ability to act as a simple listening post and a comms array. Along with The Arbiter, the Mu 2-Class shuttle had been selected as a resource for one of the experimental Stormtrooper programs, Scalpel Squad.
