Eris sighed quietly to herself as she woke up at the crack of dawn. Her usual morning ritual. She was only 18, but was the leader of a group near the GNR headquarters. Now you may be thinking 'What business does an 18 year old girl have running a whole place' well needless to say it wasn't planned, but last year her parents passed away. She did her best, but many were still skepticalto actual follow her orders and listen to her. Thanks to Argo though people were finally starting to listen.
Today was going to be an interesting day, they were having there monthly (or what they assume to be monthly) birthday party. They had these about once every 4 or 5 weeks to celebrate the residents birthdays. The ones who didn't actually know there birthdays just choose a time to celebrate it. Hopefully they wouldn't have to fight any super mutants today, but it would be a lie if anyone said that didn't happen quite often.
She got dressed and brushed her hair and tied it in a ponytail. Then she turned on the radio over the intercom. That was her way of showing today was a party day. She hummed along to Don't Fence Me In as she headed to the common area. Most of the residents of Mallsterdam were up and atom already.

The desiccated corpse some referred to as Dr. Lazlo Bell was making his way through the wasteland bearing many a shiny object, he quickly made his way to the shanty that was his house avoiding any creatures that may lurk in the capital wasteland, he had finally pried the parts out of the wreckage of that is the scrapyard and made plans of reassembling them onto the top of his house. - if you could call it that -
After arriving at his abode he began laying all of the parts out before him Lazlo was no mechanic and was not entirely sure how all of the wiring worked but he was gonna make an attempt regardless, he grabbed a match from the pocket of his mercenary troublemaker jacket and lit a smoke, as he gazed over the parts.
The good doctor scratched what was left of his rotting head, as he picked up one of what would later become a support beam for the antenna, he grabbed a drill from inside his home and began working, he took the assortment of light weight support beams he had scavenged and began arranging them on top of his building, "I'm no Radiologist but I think the taller the antenna the greater the range" Lazlo spoke chuckling at his radiologist comment.
Time had passed and the sun began to rise as he slowly pieced together his radio antenna, he put both hands on his hips gazing up at his creation and admiring it "After all these years I finally made it" If Lazlo had any lips left he would likely be smiling, he lit another cigarette as he made his way inside his tiny one room house.
He twisted some wires together forming a connection between his radio and the antenna, Flicking some of the ash into his ash tray he began to speak into the rusted microphone.
"Hello to all the dehydrated masses out there this Doctor Bell and I am here broadcasting to you from channel-" Lazlo paused for a moment to look and see what frequency he was broadcasting on.
Meanwhile back at Mallsterdam a citizen was making their way to intercom and began fiddling with the dial and accidentally happened upon the good doctors channel.
"Aww yes this is channel 11.7, if any one out there is in need of medical attention or a lively debate about the medical world we live in today, and you happen to own a ham radio please feel free gimme a ring" Lazlo spoke with a sense of satisfaction while he listened for a call.

Eris' ears perked up as she heard the transmission. "Doctor, we need a doctor." she mumbled and rushed to her room. She messed with the Ham Radio getting frustrated with it as it crackled at her. She shook her head and finally got the frequency.
"Hello, Dr. Bell? If you are there till my name is Eris. I own a small city and we would much enjoy having a doctor as we have very limited medical knowledge." She sighed softly to herself tapping her fingers on the desk. She lit up a cigarette and taped her fingers again. "Please contact me if you hear this." what could being polite hurt she thought.
Some of the citizens were getting uncomfortable wondering what she was doing trying to get a hold of this stranger. But, as usual, Argo stepped up "Now give the little lady a chance now. Ya hear me?" he said.

Lazlo sat quietly as he listened to the woman explain the plight of her city he inhaled a lung full of smoke before speaking "Well not a question but I may be able to help you and your fine city" his voice was raspy and low pitched, he flicked more ash into it's appropriate tray.
He looked over to his calender to see if he was busy, though after a moment he laughed at himself remembering his calender was from 2076, and that he hadn't had any plans for the last almost the last 200 years, he cleared his throat (not that it would do his voice a justice) as he spoke again "Yeah know little lady I'm quite comfortable right where I am what is in it for me?" he said questioning the girl.
Lazlo reclined back in his chair listening for the leaders rebuttal.

She heard his reply happy that he was still on the frequency, but now she had to think. "Well, I got a nice city here. Been around for the last 18 years and we don't have much problems in the city..." she paused blowing out some smoke "I know it is difficult to find food and weapons and such out in the wastes. We have lots of food and weapons, of course you can't get any for a year or so. But, we got some injured folks here. We go out on mutant raids quite often and a doctor would be nice. We've lost..." she swallowed hard fighting back tears "...we've lost a lot of good people because of how bad our medical knowledge is. And if you had anything you wanted maybe we could provide it."
She sat back taking a long drag of her cigarette and sighed. Now all she could do was wait for his response. She sighed softly thinking of her parents. Maybe they could've been saved if they had a good doctor.

If Lazlo had any tear ducts he would likely be crying at such a sentiment "There is allot of heartbreak out there in the wastes, and it's affecting everybody" He reclined once more in his chair contemplating about his long deceased wife, he ended this soul searching pause with a puff of smoke.
"Alright I'll help you but I've got some demands, First of all I need my smokes if you can supply me with plenty of those we'll be set, secondly I need somewhere to work that's in doors otherwise you'll have too many patient deaths" Lazlo sat back in his chair thinking of anything else he might need, while simultaneously smashing his cigarette and lighting a new one with a match.
"Also I want 85% of all medical supplies your scavenging teams find out in the wastes, and one last thing..." Lazlo took another pause from his demands "Oh yeah and I also want the blood of your first born child." he turned his microphone off so the woman on the other end couldn't hear him laughing.

She smiled excitedly and chuckled at his last comment "Well we can sure supply those cigarettes and our whole city is indoors you'd have two or three rooms for your clinic and plus your own house if you'd like to call it that. No problem with the medical supplies, but you might have to wait for my first born child. We are approximately 10 miles east of the GNR station and I would provide you with a pip-boy." she nodded putting out her cigarette.
She then leaned back "We do have security here, but I can wait for you by the entrance and bring you in." She tapped her fingers and lit another cigarette. She knew she was doing the right thing bringing a doctor in. "I hope you don't mind a few ghouls, we have a few that live here."

Lazlo got excited he was finally going to leave his home which he had grown bored of seeing as how he had been living there for the last almost 200 years, he responded into the microphone attempting to hide his excitement "Hehe I'm surprised you didn't notice I'm a ghoul from the way I talk, and in fact I specialize in ghoul anatomy and medical function."
he had already began packing his things, he began listing out the things he would require smokes, med ex, smokes, blood packs, smokes, suture kit, smokes, and smokes after packing most of his things he remembered his rifle and pistol which he placed against the wall in preparation.
Lazlo came back to the microphone, after getting his things packed and then spoke "Don't worry about the First born child thing, that was just so I had something to give up in the negotiations, also it may take me a while to get there I am a few miles outside of DC also i'm no Super mutant hunter and I'm not well equipped enough for such a fight"
Lazlo went outside for some fresh air as he waited for a response from inside he re-lit his cigarette having gotten sick of all the fresh air, he gazed up to see his radio tower remembering that he would have to leave it all behind after just having erected it.
He went back inside to further wait for a response.

"Well if you would like I can meet you in case any super mutants come along. And I really didn't notice, probably cuz of so much crackling. If you would like me to meet you at your home just tell me how far and which direction." she smiled and nodded. She took a nice long drag and looked around waiting for a response.
She stood up and stressed and looked out of her house. She knew this would make her parents proud and maybe, just maybe, prove she was a good leader.

Lazlo thought a while about what his method of getting to the city would be, he knew it would be very difficult to get through the ruins of DC, he looked over at his messy room while thinking, his eyes wondered over to a trash can full of caps there was likely several hundred caps in total there but Lazlo didn't do much trading in caps, although he figured he should bring it along regardless.
He grabbed the microphone and spoke "I think the best method for me to get over to you would be if you met me just outside of the DC ruins I can make it there myself but I am not well armed enough for such a fight."
Lazlo began further packing his things while waiting for a response, he put all of his medical supplies into his satchel, and slinged his rifle over his shoulder, and then grabbed his 10 mm pistol kissing his fingers and then touching the engraving on it which simply said: "Charlotte"
He sat back down in his chair and waited for a response.

"I can surely do that. Thank you so much for helping out my town." She nodded again and put out her cigarette. She stood up and looked around. She changed into her leather armor and began to pack her trusty .9 mm submachine gun and a plasma rifle, plenty extra ammo, food, and purified water. "Hope fully there won't be too much trouble." she mumbled. Argo could help out taking charge of Mallsterdam while she was away. It shouldn't be more then a few days anyway she thought.
"So I will meet you on the east side of the ruins if that is alright?" she said over the Ham Radio. She grabbed her pack of cigarettes, she couldn't forget those. She looked around again and thought if she needed anything else.

"That's correct I should be able to get over there in a matter of hours." Lazlo waited a few minutes for any response and then Left his tiny house waving goodbye to it as he walked away.
He reached into his medical bag and grabbed out a pack of smokes, lighting a cigarette with a match he began humming to himself, as he walked down the charred street, he made sure to stay vigilant looking in all directions to make sure he was not being followed or hunted.
Lazlo checked the mail boxes of each burnt out house he passed looking for anything of value on thing in particular jumped out at him as he reached into one of the mail boxes he found something that surprised him, he clutched the object and looked at it in disbelief.
what he had found was several 10 mm rounds, although he new it made no logical sense for spare rounds to be in a mail box, he began speaking to himself while looking at the ammo "It must be my lucky day." his face stretched as he attempted a smile he shut the male box and put the spare ammo in his 10 mm's magazine it was now full, he then continued on his journey to DC.

Eris headed out after letting Argo know she would be back in a matter of days if not sooner. She double checked everything and headed out. She wondered how she would know it was him and just chuckled. She would figure it out. She had also grabbed him a parkstroller outfit that had been dyed purple and leather armor. He would need both. She hoped he wouldn't mind the outfit.
She walked out the door making sure it fully shut behind her and began to head east. She lit a cigarette and hummed some songs while she walked. She kept her eye out for feral ghouls, super mutants and raiders. She was trained to see enemies from a far so she usually had a pretty good warning before being attacked.

The journey was long and put wear on Lazlo he was able to stay a live by hunting rad roaches, and the occasional feral dog, although the meat was bitter he couldn't complain he had been eating like that for most of his life, although he was craving squirrel stew, every night he had to find a car garage, burnt out building, or improvised shack for shelter.
Lazlo made sure to avoid any confrontation with creatures that could eat him hole and only had one incident where he happened upon a yao guai, though he was lucky it got distracted by an Albino rad scorpion the two fought off slowly making there way away from Lazlo he was glad he didn't have to stay and fight, though he wishes he could have harvested the meat of the loser.
As the days went by he grew closer to his destination, as he got closer to the ruins of DC he could clearly make out gun fire and could hear the sounds of super mutants, he looked above the noises of chaos and saw the partially destroyed Washington monument, it conjured up memories, in particular memories of the first date with his wife, which they shared by the reflecting pool.

Eris sighed, she had just fought off five super mutants before arriving at the meeting spot. She had a nasty gash on her forearm and a few bruises on her face, but she didn't care. She ran into Lazlo sooner than she thought and at first wasn't sure if it was him.
"Hello, traveler. Might you be Doctor Bell?" she said as she puffed on a cigarette and sipped some water. She eyed this man closely. He was a ghoul and there really weren't all that many around D.C. it had to be him she thought. She looked up at the stars and sighed thinking of her parents. Quickly she turned her gaze back to the ghoul. She knew better then to reminisce too long.
