History
What is now the SteelPlate Society used to be a ramshackle town of lost Super Mutants, trying to live their lives in the Rocky Mountains in Flathead County, Montana after the Master was killed. For many years, they went largely undisturbed, occasionally raiding wanderers, but struggling in general to keep supplies for everyone. Fights broke out as many of the Mutants were not satisfied with the way of life and the town threatened to revolt on itself, as temper began to flair and powerplay for leadership caused a great schism between the Mutants. But one day, a female woman appeared to them, escorting two outsider Super Mutants with her. The woman, Charmaine Quinn, was an Ex-Enclave, born from one of their scientists, and she began to make great claims that she could bring to the derelict town of Mutants to glory if they followed her rule.
The Mutants originally did not believe nor trust the woman, but since two Super Mutants had walked into town with her, they listened. She beheld to them some of the Master's F.E.V, which the Enclave had scavenged, and, in a risky move, used it to better some of the Super Mutants. The result was that those whom she used it one would become bigger, stronger, and smarter (since some were Enclave Super Mutants, or second generation, AKA dumber Super Mutants). The experiment caused there to be Super Mutant Brutes and Masters in the town, with one Overlord known as Krager, who became the most loyal to Charmaine. Impressed by these experiments, the Super Mutants quickly began to trust the woman. Going out to scavenge material for Charmaine to work with, the Super Mutants discovered an Enclave Encampment, ready to depart to the Capital Wasteland. Charmaine ordered an attack so that they could rob the Enclave's armor, guns, and metal to use for their own needs. The Super Mutants, to big to wear the armor, broke it down, melded some parts together, and began to wear them in a manner as plate mail armor, which reminded Charmaine of knights from the Renaissance. Soon after, Charmaine crowned herself the Queen, and the SteelPlate Society was born.
Ever since, Charmaine Quinn has ruled the Society, her loyal Super Mutants (dubbing themselves "the Steelmen") following her. She has expanded the territory of the Society down to Flathead County, seizing the lands and settlements there.
