Born to a military family on Redoubt, she was a happy child, an only child. She enjoyed schooling, and socialisation. Her family strongly encouraged her to follow in their footsteps and enlist in the United Nations Space Command Navy. Her parents were asked if she wanted to join the SPARTAN-V Program, but they all declined, as her parents knew the stories of failiures. She still wanted to enlist though, and she did.

Matilda was enthusiastic about everything Marine. She gained the friendship of everyone she talked to, and kept in touch with all of them.
She's mostly been stationed on Redoubt for most of her career, but she's happy being so close to her family.

She rose the ranks quite normally, and as long as she's in the field, she's happy. She's been looked at for commanding a squad, but until they tell her to, she's happy to be a part of anything.
