Initial excitement was instantly burned away. It was nice that she was being offered help, by not one but two people, however Victoria didn't know how to respond to the third man. Sure, she wasn't a stranger to being flirted with, hell she'd even get what she wanted that way from time to time. But it was never quite this... upfront. She could clearly smell alcohol, he was practically reeking of it. Regardless, this man's words had injected her with disgust. She threw her hand forward, attempting to bring it down upon the poor sod.

James looked down at the ground when the man attempted flirting with the scientist girl. He was however, shocked with how he approached it. James let her slap him, and then stepped in front, and got very close, and whispered to him.
"You do not treat a woman that way. People that do, get hurt."
James snarled, and turned back to Victoria. He searched through his memory for her name, but he couldn't remember. He also wanted to know more about the job, he'd roll the two questions into one.
"I didn't catch a name. I'm James, Paladin in the Brotherhood. What's the job details? Don't worry about paying. I get my payment from the happiness of others."

The strange man hurriedly dashed to the Anacostia Crossing Metro, dodging numerous suspicious Rivet City guards all the way. With a look of determination, he spread apart the metal gates of the ruinous, crumbling station and began to head inside and hid in the darkness, his gun at the ready and golf club in hand. Was it a foolish notion to believe anyone would seriously come and meet him? Even if it was, there was little he could do.
After about 15 minutes, he began to grow anxious inside, but didn't show it. Growing restless, he began pacing up and down the halls of the metro with the golf club being used like a cane.
'Have faith', he thought to himself.

Sander had to admit, he was a little surprised at how bold the mohawked man was - but not so much as to threaten him, as had the more heavily armored individual. He examined the power armor close up with a hint of awe; he'd never seen a member of the Brotherhood of Steel up closebefore. Sander had to wonder, though, just what one such Brotherhood Paladin was doing out here in Rivet City. He'd lived here for years, and he'd never--so far as he knew--seen a Brotherhood member up close. He supposed, though, that that was none of his business - the Brotherhood supposedly went where they chose, interacted with outsiders only when they felt like it, and this guy must have just felt like it.
"You could at least offer t'take 'er out to dinner first," Sander chimed in only half-seriously. He didn't want to adopt a hostile stance; the guy was getting it worse enough as it was, seeing as he was being slapped and threatened, but he couldn't exactly say he approved of such forward methods of asking girls out, no matter how attractive they happened to be.
Either way, he wasn't entirely confident about working with a Brotherhood of Steel member - whether because that armor tended to attract attention or simply because he was nervous about having never encountered a Paladin before. Perhaps he'd show up at Anacostia Crossing sooner rather than later, if only to avoid that discomfort.

The years spent fighting in The Colosseum had toughened Jack considerably, so the slap barely registered to Jack as painful. He knew what this meant however; he'd gone too far again. He nodded to himself, trying to work out what to say.
"I guess...I guess I deserved that. Thank's for your time miss, have a nice evening and good luck with that research you gotta do"
He went to turn and leave, but the Brotherhood guy stood in his way.
"You do not treat a woman that way. People that do, get hurt."
Jack stared at the Paladin's back blankly for a second, then snorted and turned around, to see the man he'd shoved past, he looked a little nervous, but still managed to joke.
"You could at least offer t'take 'er out to dinner first,"
Jack burst out laughing, and slapped the man happily on the arm, making him stagger sideways from the weight of the metal.
"Yeah, I guess my technique needs a little work, I'm sure a little radiation poisoning would definitely make me look better"
He continue to chuckle as he walked past to the bar. He paid his tab for the night, and was mildly dismayed by amount left in his bag. "That settles it then" he thought to himself. He grabbed is rifle from the bar-top, and stomped out of the bar. When he left the stairwell, he took a deep breath of fresh air to remove the remains of alcohol in his brain. He met the city guards stare-for-stare as he walked past, then set off across the bridge in search of the weird guy in the suit.

Victoria actually felt ever so slightly bad about what she had done, seeing the man's sudden politeness. At the same time, however, she had a few helpful looking mercenaries to attend to. She turned to them, ready to give an explanation.
"Sorry about that. Anyways, onto the job. To put it simply... Vaults. Rivet City doesn't really know much about them, and we're looking to fix that. The particular Vault I need to study at this time is Vault 106. Now, Vault 106 is, um... interesting. It's reportedly filled with gas that can cause minor hallucinations. Along with this, I'm not 100% sure where it is, it's just somewhere south-east of a place called 'Arefu'. I also need to find a Vault with a society living there, as there are reports of a couple around, but I don't know numbers or locations. I'm willing to pay for both protection and information, if you know anything about all of this.
Victoria stood silent, awaiting a response, hoping that wasn't too much information too fast. She rubbed her eyes, still rather tired.

James stood back. He took in all that Victoria had said. He knew where Vault 106 was, he also knew where a vault with a society was, Vault 101. The Citadel helped with that information.
"I know where 106 is, and 101 is the vault with a society. When do we move out?
James knew that the information was classified, but how would the Brotherhood find out, they were assholes anyway.

The man had begun playing golf with bits of debris in the metro, laughing to himself as he passed the time. He never expected anyone to come, but becoming disillusioned is never easy. He began whistling "Let's go sunning" quietly and continued to hit the fragments of debris. They often smashed into even tinier fragments upon being hit with the club, but what else was there to do? The whistle became song, and grew louder as time passed. Surprisingly, he wasn't a bad singer.
"Let's go sunnin'! It's so good for you, let's go sunnin', 'least the sky is blue...!"
A lone feral ghoul emerged from the depths of the tunnel and the song had ground to a halt. The club was raised as the ghoul approached and was swung right into the left temple of the sub-human. Blood sprayed and bone scattered almost in an orchestral manner. The man grinned and stopped. The new sound was deafening; silence. The man lent up against the wall and sighed, hope slowly fading.
"What else is there to do...?"

Kirra walked along the bridge to Rivet City, giving a slight nod to the guards as she past. One of them she had never seen before, but she remembered the other one from her last visit. She moved to her old family room. As she arrived, she felt thankful that they hadn't removed any of the stuff.
After dropping her backpack carefully on the bed, she took out a few things and left them in the room, taking the rest to sell in the marketplace. Then she strolled off to have a look around. She passed through Flak and Shrapnel's, selling spare items of clothing, armor or weaponry and buying ammunition for her current weapons.
The last stop on her route was, of course, the Muddy Rudder. Because none of her visits would be complete without a few bottles a whiskey and a few stories and tales of the drunks inside. The first thing she noticed was that there was small crowd of people crowding around a young woman. She decided to take a few steps closer to see what they were talking about.
Then she realized something, the young woman within the group looked awfully familiar. "Wow, is that Vicky?" She said out-loud, not noticing she did so. She then felt a wave of embarrassment as Victoria looked at her.
(Okay, so for those who don't already know, i finally got my character approved and allowed into this thread. I look forward to typing with you all. P.S to Unit and zenios, for being so generous and letting me in.)

[I'll settle for eternal debts of gratitude. Maybe a soul or two. c:]
Vault one-oh-six... Was that the number the other guy had been wearing, the guy in the suit with the Vault jumpsuit underneath? No, that was one-thirteen or something. Not that Sander was really happy with the whole being-involved-with-Vaults thing anyway. Part of it was that he simply didn't understand them, didn't get the reason they were still opening. The other part of it was probably that he'd never met a Vault resident, present or former, who seemed really sane.
Not that the guy who'd announced he had plans and money to hire mercenaries just a few minutes ago had really struck him right, anyway. He felt at least a little more comfortable with this nervous young sciency type; at least she came off as a little more than a confident salesman. But if Vaults were involved... it was possible they were going to end up working together anyway. Oh, well. He'd stick with the young--though, again, she very well might have been older than him--scientist, if only because she creeped him out less.
"For my part," he offered, "I don't know much about Vaults or any of that stuff. But I do protection just fine if you're looking for another hired hand or two."

Jack walked along the road to the Station, wiping centaur blood off of his trench knife. The creepy little bastard had jumped Jack as he was turning a corner. It was all Jack could do not to vomit when the centaur had retched onto the wall next to him.
When Jack finally arrived at the Station, the sick feeling in his stomach had gone, and he was ready to work. He looked around the outside of the station for a while, but finding nothing, he walked to go inside. The pitch black darkness behind the entrance led him to pull out his pistol, and switch the flashlight on. He called out.
"Hey! Yo? You in here fella?"

As Jason arrived at the station he realized that there was nothing established here. Was it too late to help that scientist chick? He thought to himself. This felt a little odd and eery. Maybe it was inside. He went inside the station and didn't see anything except one of the other mercenaries.
"Some business ploy." Jason remarked. "Not exactly the best place to formulate a meeting with mercenaries."

"Great! If you could lead us to whichever is closer first, that would be great, Mr. James. Speaking of which, I forget to mention, my name is Victoria. Pleased to meet you."
She replied to the rather tall, power-armour clad man. The other man chimed in, explaining he could only offer protection.
"That'd be fine. I need all the help I can get, really. I don't have many caps, but I should be able to offer you two some. So, we can really move out whenever we want. I'll have to make some preparations, but it'll only take around 20 or 30 minutes. Should we meet back here then?"
She was about to get a reply when a familiar voice yelled out her. Was that... Kirra? She glanced over to the direction of the voice, and lo and behold it was.
"Sorry, can you please just excuse me for a minute?"
She asked the rhetorical question with a hint of excitement in her voice. Victoria turned towards Kirra, almost running and almost tripping over her own feet.
"Kirra! It's so good to see you, where have you been all this time?"
She reached out her arms to hug Kirra, awaiting a response.
