As a young boy, Derek lived in one of the founding states of the NCR called Dayglow. his childhood was a traumatic one, with his adopted ghoul parents disregarding his health and with the human kids nearby constantly abusing him for having "zombie" parents. The accidental death of his parents by mysterious circumstances left him an orphan, stuck on the streets with an increasing Psycho.
When Derek grew older, he left the NCR for other lands. His first kill was commited after happening upon a highwayman, who's murder was described by Derek as "The greatest feeling he had ever experienced". Derek stole the man's armor, spiked knuckles, and his pistol, and began his mean streak of murders and thefts across the ruins of the U.S.
Derek's only known motives for these various killings are pure greed and his psycho addiction. His frequent raiding of anyone he comes across and his bankruptcy of small stores across the wastes through the trading of items gained from this have caused him the gain notoriety as a so-called "legal thief". These small stores often end up destroyed and their owners dead if Derek is recognized, they refuse to take the items, or Derek dislikes their personality .
The victims of Derek's killing spree range from wanderers to NCR soldiers. He has no apparent ias against any and all political groups.Derek will often take the bodies of these victims and strip the flesh from them, dressing them to look like Brahmin meat and other foods to attract inwary wanderers looking for a food trader. The bones of these victims are either hidden in a shallow grave or some hiding place nearby, or ground into bone meal. This is often sold along with the "meat" as a condiment.
