“Lady Meridia... I only wish I could be as grossly incandescent as you. Perhaps one day, I will be thy chosen champion”
Gared was born into low nobility in Wayrest, and on the day of his birth, it is said he was visited by Golden Saints under the command of Meridia, who asked of his family to raise him to be a warrior. As such, as soon as Gared was able, he was placed in squireship in the Knights of the Rose. For nigh a decade, Gared learned the ins and outs of swordplay, smithing, and destruction magic, though his specialty of shock magic surprised his teachers. One day however, a month into his Knighthood, he saw a vision of Skyrim: a place with a Sun as their symbol. As word spread of the reforging of the Dawnguard, Gared headed east, to Fort Dawnguard.
Gared arrived and began furthering his training, mastering the arts of facing the undead. However, in his travels for the Dawnguard, he came across the shrine of Meridia and was in awe, for he had been chasing the sun his whole life and never knew why. So he left the Dawnguard and searched out the Knights of Meridia. He found them, hidden among the wilds, praising the sun goddess, and saw a knight, a man who wanted to find his own sun. And so, they took him in, making him a Knight, and taught him their ways. Then, when he was in his late twenties, they proclaimed him a Knight Templar, and upon it, they granted him a Sword of the Endless Dawn. However, he knew his place wasn't among the Knights, but wandering and seeking Meridia's blessings. So at the age of thirty, Gared left. Where he is now, nobody knows.
