Down some lonely road in the middle of the Mojave rode a small caravan. It was comprised of only two brahmin pulling carts, but curiously had about three times as many armed guards as usual. And these weren't just guys who could tell the difference between a plasma rifle and their own ass like run of the mill guards, either. These were some of the best that money could buy. This caravan wasn't carrying water, caps, or food. It carried something much more unusual. One of a kind, in fact. Inside one of the caravans was Spencer Evans, bound and gagged, soon to be dropped miles outside of his home in New Vegas onto a cold highway. He struggled to free himself from his bondage to no avail. His screams could not be heard through the rag in his mouth. He was tired, confused, hungry, and most of all, terrified. He suddenly felt the caravan come to a halt, and after several antagonizing minutes of quiet conversation, the tarp covering him was suddenly lifted and he had about a dozen guns pointed at his face.
"Now are we gonna waste this guy, or what?" asked a timid member of the guards.
"That's what we're getting paid for, ain't it?" chimed in another.
Suddenly a radroach leaped at their brahmin. It took off the road running at full speed while the men stood dumbfounded.
"Fuck it, just leave the target here. He'll get killed out here anyway, just won't be from us. Now we need to get the cattle back," said the leader.
The armed men threw Spencer on the ground and kicked him a few times before hurrying towards the runaway caravan. He felt warm blood soak his gag, but was unable to do anything about it while he was constrained.
Once they were out of earshot, Spencer managed to work the gag off his face. He rolled over and did the one thing he knew he could: scream at the top of his lungs.

The sand of the mojave danced across the ground as a slight breeze pushed through the desert. Kaiden took a deep breath in as he lined up his shot. The dry air stung his lungs as he began to breath out. He softly squeezed the trigger once he was sure that he could hit the lone giant ant. Then at the last secong a scream tore through the area. Kaiden jumped from the sudden noise and the bullet went over the ant.
"Dammit." The young man hissed under his breath as he grabbed all of his stuff and went to investigate where the scream came from.
Making his way up the next dune he laid down and looked through his scope. Judging by the sound of the scream he should be close enough to spot the man who made him miss the shot. He started to scan the empty desert in front of him, noticing that there was a faint road up ahead. The sand washed over the hot asphalt, hiding the road from anyone looking from a distance. As Kaiden scanned the length of the road with his scope he grinned. The man seemed to be tied up and laying on the ground.
"This is a little more interesting then I thought." The merc thought to himself as he took his time and slowly walked over to the man.
"You look like you got yourself into a bit of a jam." Kaiden said to the man as he knelt down beside him and started to untihAgue rope. As he looked at the man Kaiden realized that he looked a bit familiar. "What's your name, stranger?" He ask once the rope was untied and the man was free.

Michael Eldridge heard the scream, most people in the vicinity would have. But would others come to help? Michael was a kind hearted man, and it was his duty to help the screaming man.
Really, he was eager to get back home to the Tops and have a nice comfortable bed to fall on. He had only just came over the last mound, and saw that somebody else was attending to the....Spencer? Michael ran over and crouched next to him.
"Jesus Spence, what the hell happened to you? And why isnt there a woman around your arm?"
The last comment was referring to Spencer's habit of bedding multiple women. But what was his good friend and colleague doing out here, and why was Michael ignoring the other man? That was rude of him.
"Michael Eldridge, trade relations at the Tops."
Michael had his hand out ready to shake the savior of Spencer's.

Spencer looked up in confusion at Michael.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Spencer asked, struggling to his feet.
"What the fuck am I doing here? And what is this place anyway?"
He stood up and doubled over, his hands on his knees and began to hyperventilate. Soon, however, he turned to the man who untied him.
"Wha-? Oh, uhh, I'm Spencer Evans. From the Tops? New Vegas? Listen pally, sorry if I'm being rude but this has understandably confusing way to start my d- night. And th- thanks for getting me out of those ropes. I'll buy you a drink or something."

Kaiden kept his eyes on Spencer while he waited for a name. As he waited he realized the other man run up and turned to look at him.
"Nice to meet you. You may call me Night Owl."
Kaiden wasn't keen on giving his name to people he doesn't trust with his life. When Michael stuck his hand out Kaiden accepted the greeting and shook the man's hand.
Turning his attention back to the man he untied he listened to what he had to say. Letting Spencer's words sit for awhile Kaiden thought to himself.
"I wish we had meant under better circumstances. I guess this is the hand we are dealt though. Anyway it's nice to meet you, Mr. Evans."
Kaiden gave a soft smile as he held his hand out toward Spencer. Thinking about the first question Spencer asked Kaiden found himself at a loss.
"I'm not quite sure where we are. I was just out hoping to run into some coyotes." The young man said.
He took a quick look around the three before looking back at Spencer. Kaiden's hand was still held out as he looked at Spencer.

Michael expected Spencer to be a little bit more grateful, but the man had seemed to be a little shook up. No idea why, however. The gag and tied limbs gave some presumption that he was kidnapped, but he had hoped that Spencer would tell the story.
"What the fuck are you doing here?"
"You know, saving you from a pack of hungry coyote. What are YOU doing here? Long way from the nearest bar slash casino slash woman."
Michael chuckled.
"What the fuck am I doing here? And what is this place anyway?"
"This, my friend, is just outside of a small town on the border of California and Nevada. Some of the locals would be able to point us towards Vegas, home. You want a smoke?"
Michael grabbed a cigarette packet, and picked one out for Spencer, and then another for himself, he then grabbed his matches and lit one, and then lit his own cigarette, and then passed the matchbox to Spencer.

Spencer eagerly grabbed the cigarette.
"I ain't in the mood for jokes, dig? Now get us to shelter so I can figure this out. You said there was a town here? Because from where I'm sitting there's nothing but open road."
Spencer looked down to discover he was only wearing an undershirt and boxers.
"We gotta find something for me to wear. Don't want to offend any locals."

Kaiden looked around the empty area before turn back to look at Spencer. He extended his hand to the man as he spoke.
"Well it was nice meeting both of you. I would love to help you more, but I have to get going."
He waited to see if Spencer would take his hand before turning and walking back to the camp that he had set up about a mile away.

Michael looked around in the direction of the small town, the reason Spencer couldn't see the town was because there was a decent sized mound between the group and the town, obstructing the view.
"Just over that mound."
When Kaiden announced that he had to leave, Michael shook his hand, and wished him luck.
"I wish you luck in your travels, and I thank you for getting to Spencer before something else did."
He watched Kaiden leave, and then helped Spencer walk over to the town, as they arrived, a vigilante there helped them into the town. Once Spencer was in the common room, the vigilante got a blanket and covered him.
"What the hell happened to him, Michael?"
She looked into Spencer's eyes for a moment, and then felt his head.
"No signs of a concussion, it wouldn't hurt getting him to the doctor in the morning though. Make yourself comfortable, boys. Get some sleep, you'll be safe."
Michael left Spencer to sleep on the lounge, and laid down on a mattress on the ground. Sierra however laid down on a lounge in the direction of the door, able to watch if someone walked through.

"Thanks again, you're a real ring-a-ding-ding guy. Come on, Mike, we oughta get to town before it gets any darker."
The two made their way to the town. Once there, they were greeted by an attractive young woman.
"Nothing you have to worry about, doll. Now what does a guy have to do to get a bed to sleep on?"
She took him into the common room and examined him for injury.
"Don't get too close, baby, who knows if you'll ever want to get away from my handsome mug," he said with a subtle wink. "And if you gimme a doctor's number, I'll see him first thing in the morning. Might need a guide- never been here before."
After Michael fell asleep, Spencer joined Sierra.
"Never caught your name, by the way. I'm Spencer Evans, pleasure's all mine."

Sierra was taken by suprise when Spencer started talking, she had hoped he had fallen asleep. She shook her head and looked over at Spencer.
"Sierra Bull. You should really get some sleep. Unless you need something?"
She really just meant that as a "If you are in pain, I can help you by getting some Med-X" But with Spencer's flirtatious nature, he would probably interpret that differently.
Sierra herself could not sleep, so she sat up, and poured herself a drink of whiskey, and downed it. She pointed the bottle at Spencer.
"If you can't sleep, this'll help. It helps me at least."

"Sierra. Pretty name for a pretty girl. Tell me about yourself, Sierra. I wanna get to know you better."
Spencer lit a cigarette. "Smoke?" he asked. "And I see that you can't fall asleep either. Why don't we just talk instead? How did you find yourself here? What do you do for a living? How did you meet Mikey?"
When Sierra offered him the whiskey, he pushed it away and took a drag of his cigarette.
"I don't touch the stuff. Haven't in years. I like to keep a clear head."

Sierra chuckled at Spencer, laughing more at his attempt to flirt with her, then his approach.
"Spencer, you don't wanna know me better."
Sierra eagerly took the cigarette, and started smoking.
"And I see that you can't fall asleep either. Why don't we just talk instead? How did you find yourself here? What do you do for a living? How did you meet Mikey?"
"I s'pose we could. I found myself here out in the ass end of the Nevada simply by drifting from place to place. My skills made me a good choice for a guard. Been itching to leave, though. As of now, I protect shit towns from even shittier people. I met Michael a few days ago when he strolled into town, I like to keep tabs on visitors. Now what about you, Spencer Evans."

"Oh, believe me, I do want to get to know you better. And I swiped the smokes offa Mike, so let's try not to go through the whole pack, dig?"
"Me? Where to start? Well, I work at the Fabulous Tops Casino in New Vegas. I'm very rich and I live in a very large guarded suite with lots of fine clothes."
He took a drag of his cigarette and decided to make himself seem less shallow.
"I was born very, very poor in California. I ran away from home and joined a gang that later became the Chairmen, the group that now runs the Tops. I donate a good portion of my money to help the less fortunate. So now that you know that, I think you should tell me more about yourself."

Sierra leaned back on the couch, and lifted her arms behind her head, and listened to Spencer's history, which she thought it'd be more interesting, but he was probably holding something back, like she was.
Sierra finally cracked, and leaned forward quickly.
"I grew up on a farm, and my highlight of the week was watching the soldiers go through town. I enlisted in the NCR when I was old enough, and they thought I was good enough to be in First Recon."
She paused for a bit, and her hands were trembling.
"I...fought in Bitter Springs, and then quit. I drifted from place to place."
Sierra wanted to get the Bitter Springs part out of the way quickly. She put her head in her hands, the memories returning, and then she lifted it back up, and wiped a tear out of her eye.
"Happy?"
She snarled this at Spencer, obviously not happy with him prying into her past.
