Jon was born to Lord Halvar and Lady Nedaya of House Meadswill. House Meadswill's holding was a small town and manor called Snowguard, on the border between High Rock and Skyrim. Jon, being two years younger then Sorven, the heir of the house, and his brother, grew up with him, and naturally, if you grow up with someone, you get close bonds with them. Anything Sorven did, so did Jon, sometimes it was hard to know which was which. Eventually, it was noticable. Jon was the taller and stronger of the two taking after his father, and Sorven had the smarts of his mother.
Sorven was trained mostly of the mind, while Jon was trained with the sword and bow. It was strange to think, but it seemed that their parents wanted them to rule equally, or at least have Sorven be the Lord, and Jon be his warden. Jon's combat skills he learned from three people. An Alik'r warrior for his swordsmanship, a Nord huntress for his marskmanship, funnily enough, this was the first woman he bedded, and a retired Imperial Legionaire for his armor skill.
He slowly formed the way he fought, unique to himself. He learned many things from the trainers, sometimes not pertaining to the subject. From the Alik'r he learned to size up his target. From the huntress he learned to use his environment, and from the Legionnaire he learned what he should truly fight for.
His parents wanted to get him a loyal bodyguard that would always be by his side. They knew that Jon could handle himself fine and dandy, but they wanted peace of mind knowing that he would be safe. They spoke with Jon, but Jon did not want a bodyguard. They thought for a while, until they came to speak with an animal trainer, asking if such a thing could be done. The trainer organized the fiercest thing he could get. An Ice Wolf pup. Fresh from it's mother. They paid a good price for him, and gave it to Jon, he was ecstatic.
Jon, feeling particularly brave one night, snuck out of Snowguard, and went to destroy a bandit clan that had attacked some of his people. It was night, so most were asleep. The few that were up, Jon took out with his bow. He did however get sloppy towards the end. He did not perform reconnaisance properly, and one guard, furthest away from Jon, saw the corpses, and the last few that Jon did not kill had arisen and were ready for combat. Jon, in an adrenalin fueled frenzy, was able to disarm and kill all but one. The final, had his weapon taken, and had Jon's sword pushed against his throat. The young man was scared, evidently by the warm liquid that had ran down his legs, so Jon let the man go. Confident that justice was served.
When he returned, he washed his sword, and his armor the best he could, and went to sleep. This day, was the day his parents decided to tell Jon about his betrothed. Jon was awoken personally by his mother and father, Jon had presumed that they had found out about his elimination of the bandit clan, so had a little bit of a sweat. He was fine after listening to what they had to say, however.
Jon did not understand why he had to be married at such a young age, or why it had to be a Dunmer. He would've rathered a tavern wench from the town. There had to have been a good reason. And there was. Snowguard was getting poorer and poorer, the Dunmer's father had a good deal of money and did not know that Snowguard was poorer then it seemed, enough money to buy his daughter a good husband.
