The woman lives for thrills and caps, often driven towards goals of financial gain and adrenaline. Strangers often views her as a confident, loud, dangerous woman. Unbelievably loyal to Orson ( though oddly prone to manipulating people with sexual advances when violence or blackmail is out of the question ), Roxanne will follow Orson the end of the Wasteland while joyously killing anyone who threatens their safety or money along the way.
Roxanne has a form of bi-polar disorder, and occasionally struggles to control her ever-changing mood and thoughts. Her time with Orson has seemed to ground her more firmly to reality, ironically, as they have acted fairly irrationally and caused much suffering, pain, loss, and chaos to the residents of the Mojave. It seems the more Orson and Roxy commit horrible acts, the more comfortable and solid she seems to become in her persona. A true sadist and iconoclast, wreaking havoc across the Wasteland seems to be her main goal. Her real intentions are difficult to read for even veteran bounty hunters, due to her fluid personality and constantly hidden motives.
The Boneyard and the California Wastes
( 2257 - 2275 )
Born in the Boneyard ( Los Angeles ) on August 13th 2257, Roxanne DeLago's parents were poor NCR citizens living in the crowded rubble of L.A. Her father enlisted in the NCR to help support his new family when Roxy was still breast feeding. This was when Roxy's troubles began. A single parent dying of radiation poisoning, her mom had no family in the area when she grew ill. ( She had been a former raider, and had never known her birth family anyway. ) The child watched as her mother get worse each day, and the toddler was at her side when she died in a fit of vomiting and convulsing. Her father was still deployed in the NCR army, and was no where near the Boneyard when his wife passed away. By the time anyone found Roxy, she had been with her mother's corpse for three days. Hungry, dehydrated, and scared, the toddler was given to a local orphanage until her father returned. Her father's older sister, Alison, was one of the caretakers of the place. Roxanne suffered from deep depression, and as she aged to a young girl her violent outbursts and mood swings caused others to shy away from her.
In December of 2271, Roxanne had been working for a chemist and his crew. At the age of 14, she was already a street-smart kid that had began to find a place in the world. Or so she thought. The abandoned apartment building they had been using as a base of operations was raided by a rival gang. Most of the chem pushers and the chemist himself were found and shot one by one. Roxanne suffered a fate far worse.
In 2273, after nearly two years of abuse, brain-washing, and neglect, Roxy's sanity had been all but lost. Chained in the basement of the 22nd Street Hotel, the girl spent countless days lying cold and alone on the concrete. She had grown malnourished and gaunt. The young girl's hate was the thin rope keeping her tethered to any semblance of sanity. Eventually that too, was broken. She became and animal. When the leader of the thugs returned for another visit to his slave, she made it his last. Roxy shot the man in the gut with his own pistol, scrambling to get the keys as he flailed. After unlocking her shackles and executing the man, she fled from the Hotel. She ran into a gang member during her escape, shooting the woman with the boss' pistol without thinking twice. Discarding the weapons and taking the dead woman's clothes, Roxy disappeared again into the slums of the Boneyard.
2275. Roxanne, now 18, travels out of the Boneyard with a merchant caravan, having stolen and hustled enough money to buy her way to the Long 15. Along the way she is caught stealing from the caravan's stock, and is left on the trail alone with only the clothes on her back and a single bottle of water. She meets up with a traveling family, claiming to be a widow and her young husband killed by raiders. When asked how sh had escaped, Roxy replied that she didn't want to talk about it. The family foolishly bought her story, and agreed to allow her to travel with them. That evening, Roxy caught the father alone some distance from the road. She advanced upon him, and in the hours that followed he told her of why the family was heading to the Mojave. A dead relative had left some caps and some property to them all.
Two days later, she murdered the family with the father's hunting rifle. Burying the bodies and taking what loot she could use or sell, the young woman continued to the Mojave Outpost.
The Mojave Wasteland
( 2275-2282 )
( 2275-2282 )
When Roxanne finally made it to the Mojave Outpost, she tied up her newly acquired pack brahmin and sat around the bar for a few days drinking. Asking around, she found that her father was somewhere in the Mojave, near a town called Primm. With no other real goal in mind, and adventure in her black heart, Roxy continue on towards the nearby town her in which she may find her father.
As told, she found her father in Primm, drinking at the Bison Steve. The man hadn't seen his daughter since she had been a baby, so when Roxanne told the tipsy soldier her name was Gwendolyn Bishop, he believed her. After luring him to one of the hotel rooms with sexual innuendos, the eighteen year old girl shot her father in the stomach with the .32 revolver she had stolen from the merchant caravan. She then relieved him of his weapon as he bled out, and explained to him that she was his daughter, and blamed him for her mother's death. She left him on the floor of the hotel room, writhing in pain.
2277. Roxanne wanders the Mojave, robbing poorly armed or poorly witted travelers. Often, she kills them. Her home is the broken ranch left to the family she murdered several years ago. She gathered quite a nest egg in the Mojave, and the young woman booby trapped her home. For a time she hooks up with a raider turned loner named Gregg. Gregg and Roxanne have a successful run for over a year, gaining much profit and unfortunately much notoriety. In an attempt to throw possible bounty hunters from her trail, Roxy murders Gregg as he sleeps. The young woman then gathers what she believes will be useful, then torches the farm.
2278. Robbing a merchant caravan after shooting the guard, Roxy made it half way to Freeside before the associates of the merchant found her squatting in an abandoned rancher's house. Carefully removing the dining room piano's wires, her wire traps killed one hunter and injured another. Finding the injured hunter as he bled out, the young woman relieved him of his weapon. When the other two hunters circled around to the basement entrance, the girl appeared behind them silently. Aiming the assault rifle, Roxy whistled loudly. She then fired upon the men when they turned to look back up the steps. Emptying the magazine into the hunters, she then examined her new toy as smoke rose from it's barrel. The R-91 Assault Rifle would be a fine addition to her gear.
2279. The young woman had been renting a cabin in Nipton. One day while hanging around the scummy town, waiting for work, Roxy's life changed. She had been squatting behind a ranch house in the shade, watching the road for any straggling travelers attempting to reach civilization before nightfall. The man that emerges from the Mojave horizon was not your average waster. He had high roller written all over him, and Roxy decided to keep an eye on the fella.
That man, of course, was Orson Aconi. His jet black hair and piercing blue eyes stood out from a distance, and the young woman shadowed him for a few hours around Nipton. Something about him was different. She had never seen an MP40 before, but it was more than that... he wasn't a type she had seen before.
It seemed Orson was quite the gambler, calling out Big Burt: a particularly sly mountain of a man, hustling him at cards. When Orson's negotiations went south, Big Burt but on his spiked knuckles and his friend drew his revolver. And that's when Roxanne emerged from the shadows of Nipton, casually putting a .32 round into Burt's eye with a smile. She then snatched the wrist of Burt's partner before he regained his thoughts, forcing him to aim his weapon at the ground as she smashed the grip of her revolver into his nose. As the man dropped the gun and cried out, Roxanne DeLago slit his throat. As she looted the men's corpses she introduced herself to Orson as the Desert Angel, and advised him to stick with her so she could show him the ropes in Freeside. But first, they had to hide. And before they left Nipton, he would have to help her rob the mayor to repay her.
Although their meeting had been odd enough, their relationship became downright twisted. The mayor turned out to be an easy hustle, and by the time his assistant found him, the couple had been half way to Novac. From there is began, and from there it grew. A crimson caravan shipment went missing. Bodies of a few chairmen were found dead in Freeside. The Khans lost an entire shipment of Jet. With each passing victory, Roxanne and Orson became an experienced, tricky, and deadly team. Their strategies have advanced, and their tactics have become refined to a grisly art. The few bounty hunters that have gotten close to the lovers either disappeared or were found dead eventually.
The sinister pairing of Roxanne and Orson was a match made in Hell. They operate incognito, and clean their targets out with impressive efficiency. And currently they drift across the Mojave and southern Nevada: leaving few clues, many empty safes, and much bloodshed behind.
