"The Pines on this side of the Frostbacks were thick, trunks as wide as an Ogre and taller than a High Dragon. They were treacherous, too, for beneath their smothering canopy lay dangers a plenty. Hidden ravines big enough to trap a Qunari, beasts that would swallow a Dwarf whole and Elvhen Dalish - ever wandering since the loss of the Dales at the hands of the Chantry. Home to Giants too, over all a horrible place to live. For those pansy City Folk." Hello and welcome to the Black Empo- Dragon Age Freeform. It's going to be a simple affair, Zen's already pegged up for a place and perhaps I could be persuaded to stretch open another slot or maybe two but I'd need to see a pretty pretty please. an awesome character, a love of Dragon Age and a respect for its beautiful lore. If you can't already tell it's going to start in the pine forest on the Northern slope of the Frostback Mountains, Orlais side. Anyway, on with the Character Sheet! I hate these.... {Note: This is also going to be a little experiment of mine. I won't ask for a character history or background, I want you to keep that in your mind, make it up on the spot - whatever. Just remember it and we'll use our own genuine shock at a character's history to paint a pretty ":0" face on our in-thread characters. Think of it like you're playing uh, Dragon Age, and you come across a potential companion. You don't know about that companions history until you chat with them a bit. Even then things are a mystery for some. Unless you check the Wikia - but that's cheating so assume you're the first player ever Feel free to edit your character sub with things that have been revealed in the thread if that takes your fancy.} Name: Duh. Gender: Double Duh. Birthplace: Just to get a hint of what your accent will sound like. Age: Yet another Duh. And don't put "Dragon" I'm not asking for the Chantry calendar here. Appearance: I want this one to be a biggy, after all it's the only thing we have of your character without their history Equipment: Weapons, Armour, Potions, Herbs, Food - whatever. Stuff. You know the drill by now. Personality: Not that concerned with, actually considered removing it alongside history. Yknow what consider it entirely optional, if you fancy diving 100% into my experiment of surprise then ignore it completely. Quote: Slap a short quote of your character here, anything. Any way they would've reacted to any situation to give us a hint at what your character is like. Consider it a condensed version of your Personality - which makes it entirely optional too. I probably should have mentioned, the date is the summer of 9:40, the Orlesian Civil War and the Mage/Templar war are in full swing and the veil has already torn in some places. Not quite as bad as Inquisition paints it, for now it's just a rumoured occurance.

Name: Idwal Ar Yggrol O Wyvernwood. Gender: Male. Birthplace: Wyvernwood Stronghold, Frostback Mountains, Feraldan. Age: 38. Appearance: Idwal is a tall, gruff Avvar Barbarian. Standing at roughly 6'8" and built like a Qunari Karasaad. A mountain of a man, Idwal is a fearsome sight to behold with his greatsword or without. His hair is long and a brown like the bark of a tree. Often it is tied back into a rough ponytail, although sometimes he simply leaves it down and wild. He also sports a full beard, thick yet short, that he keeps trimmed with his knife. His Avvar blood is clear in his rough-hewn face, sharp and rugged. The years have been somewhat kind to the man, with only crows feet and a wrinkled forehead marring his face. His eyes are a dark blue, and are probably the youngest, kindest, looking feature of the man. Equipment: - Outfit: Idwal wears a grand suit of Orzammar-forged steel chain link, lightweight yet incredibly sturdy. It looks as if to have been through many battles, but to those with the eye for these things it has clearly been fixed up by skilled hands and forged within recent years. The chains are so tightly bound that they rarely make a sound. There exists an emblem of some type of fierce bird upon his left breast in blue leather and gold trim thread.
The chain link itself covers his entire torso and ends at just passed his shoulders on both arms. Here it takes a short break, exposing the tightly muscled arms before ending in mid-forearm length leather and plate steel gauntlets.
The chain-link ends midway down his thighs, covering a pair of thick, comfortable, leather breeches trimmed in warm fur. Finally he wears a pair of boots of similar make to his pants, only being capped in a plate of steel.
Similarly his chain-link is also trimmed with greyish-white fur, by the looks of it from a wolf and it seems to extend through from the leather underneath. He wears a cape: long, thick and made of fur like that of the rest of his clothing - yet seemingly too large to be from a single wolf if a wolf at all, perhaps the beast was something far larger.
Idwal does not wear a helmet or hat. He plans not to be so foolish as to allow a blow to the head. - Weaponry:
- Other Equipment: Carrying a satchel made of sturdy leather, with bands of iron keeping the straps sturdy. The buckle that holds the top flap down is bound by a strong lock, the key is kept on a Silverite chain around his neck.
In this satchel is much of his worldly goods, including travel goods, and many things he wishes none to see. One notable object he pulls out often is a small crude wooden carving of an axe.
A small coin purse at his waist jostles with the sound of borderline poverty, yet the ringing sounds as he rummages through his satchel hint at much more in there.
Finally, Idwal carries a sharp dagger used as a hunting knife, utility took and skinning knife attached to his left hip. In rare circumstances he may use the long blade as a weapon. Personality: Never has Idwal met a situation he couldn't work his way out of, either by fist or the guile and charisma so unnatural for someone of his size. Indeed he has been nicknamed by some of his clan as the "Fox in Bear's Skin", for his love of charisma, knowledge and subterfuge are unusual for one of his stature. All Avvars are suspicious of their gods, who may be offended by any slight that he may not understand. As such, if he were to undergo any misfortune then he will go out of his way to appease his native Gods. Idwal is known for being an honourable, generally kind soul. But his world is a harsh one, and it has left him suspicious of most - especially city-born and more so Orlesian ones. He does however have a fondness for Dwarves and all things Dwarvern, believing the people of the Mountain Father are truly worthy of honour and respect. Quote: "Everything is temporary, your life, my life - even the mountains become pebbles in time. The exception is a strong name, a legacy - good or bad. That can last forever."

Name: Calene Aldaren Gender: Female Birthplace: Elven Alienage, Val Royeaux, Orlais Age: Thirty-one years Appearance: Calene is certainly on the short side, maybe grazing five feet in her thickest pair of boots. Despite spending her formative years malnourished and living in the cramped squalor of an alienage, she sports a decently athletic figure with more than a hint of femininity. Her hair, a sun-bleached light brown, is most usually kept at a moderate length. She keeps it pulled tightly back to expose a sharp widow's peak and the vallaslin ritual markings that branch across her forehead and temples. These features frame a heart-shaped face and accentuate a pair of expressive, forest-green eyes; these are set above high cheekbones and a sharp, straight nose. Her decidedly thin eyebrows are frequently pulled down in something resembling serious expression, a look often supplemented by a general hardening of her eyes and an ever-so-slight pursing of her rather full lips. Equipment:- Apparel:
- Weapons:
- Other Equipment:
Personality: Calene's pretty much totally bought into the Dalish culture and mindset. She's still perhaps overeager to work words of Elvish into conversation where she can, tends to savor the still-somewhat-unnatural syllables as they roll off her tongue. There's still an Orlesian lilt to her voice, though, and that's something she has tried for several years now to eradicate without any particular success. The fires of hatred and fear that once scorched at her soul have since cooled off, filling Calene with a more rational distaste for those willing to abuse power or positions of stature. Oh, she still harbors distrust for humans, but no more than any other Dalish; she recognizes it's not fair to judge all based on the actions of some. Maybe the teachings of the Vir Tanadhal, the Way of Three Trees, have calmed her a bit; Calene does her best to live by the Dalish mantras and philosophies, and irrational racism doesn't exactly fit into any of them. Instead, she tries to be reasonable and logical - mature beyond her years, maybe. She chooses to focus more on the present and the future than the past, tends to forgive quickly and forget much further down the line. Quote: You know, I'm having a really hard time with this one so I'll write it in at some point. I'm not good at the whole 'generate a one-sentence summary' thing. I'll probably redo the personality because I'm not too satisfied with it, either.

Well there's a backlog of people wanting to join in, but none of them have made a character sheet yet nor joined (because the thread is at a closed off point in the story right now). I guess if one of them doesn't pop in when we get to a village or something, you can join!
